COMMAND CENTRE - How to copy ALL command centre settings to another preset?

I have finalised command centre foot switches etc to (finally) be reasonably usable and I need to transfer them to all my (used) presets

In the menu items there is 'Copy/Paste/All' but this does not copy names, led colours etc

How is this simple task done? What am I missing here?

Cheers

  • markwesse changed the title to COMMAND CENTRE - How to copy ALL command centre settings to another preset?

Not missing anything. Copy All does not, in fact, copy ALL.

Also, it only copies what it DOES copy for the active Snapshot. If the other Snapshots have different settings they need to be copied separately.

I'm pretty sure this has been posted on Ideascale, do a search and VOTE!

If not, post it and post a link here. I'll VOTE!

I dont know all of the 'logic' in the saves/copy commands, but.....what works for me when designing a preset is that I go to snapshot 1, I setup my layout, I choose copy all, clear all (kicks you out of Command Center, I hate this part) then go back in and paste all.  This then applies my one snapshot layout to all snapshots.  Which is what I want being that I don't use the 'stacked' snapshot approach.

I'm not sure if the paste all, carries over from pasting into preset 1, saving, changing to preset 2 and then pasting again.  I rarely have songs with the exact same layout next to each other (only thing that varies really with me is number of snapshots) to try it out, but maybe worth a shot?

As mentioned on the other feature category...there is a bug with login where if you originally logged in using FB, fb is now broken but remembers your email address which you cant use to log in or create a new account :(

Before any of that though...a simple table advising what does and does not get copied would be pretty helpful and save a lot of time

Yeah, I use only snapshots instead for sound control and stomp for Ableton/guitar synth and external gear because the midi cc's etc from the 6 switch looper are pretty well useless for controlling anything external (I put in a feature suggestion for a null looper here but cant log in to ideascale). This layout (snaps/stomp) works ok but I then need the command centre/stomps on every preset and when you paste all to another preset, it drops a lot of info eg names, colours etc if that makes sense

In reality...snapshots are a bit half baked...for them to work well, you need to be able to choose which actual numbered snapshot a parameter listens to (or All) and each stomp needs multi state...then we would be cooking with gas!

Yeah thats not the issue; there is a software design oversight when you click 'copy all' and it doesnt copy all

Workarounds like this are pretty poor tbh (but I appreciate your reply); using native doesnt even let you edit the command centre stuff at all

If I copy a preset is kinda pointless as I simply want to add repetitive functionality to a preset which is reasonably common

I simply need to paste a command centre preset as per expected functionality

Cheers

Well. to be fair it DOES copy the FUNCTIONALITY, the switches DO what they're configured to DO, they just don't LOOK the way they were designed to LOOK.

Yes, I totally agree, COPY ALL should mean COPY ALL, because words have meanings, but that includes the word FUNCTIONALITY.

Speaking of which, since the FUNCTIONALITY of a Command Center configuration can depend on how the Snapshots interact, there SHOULD be a way to choose whether or not COPY ALL means just THIS Snapshot or ALL Snapshots. Kind of a PITA to have to perform 8 COPY ALL and SAVE functions when COPY ALL should mean COPY ALL!

Yeah...it does..but seems whoever was delegated to the code/brief...they really couldnt have understood the need/function

re: snapshots...absolutely

Just basic library functions

would be nice to have a matrix view in command centre too...like the matrix for controller on the edit page
