slowrower
I updated to HX Exit 3.70 Before updating the firmware plus I did a backup. My Helix was at 3.60. I followed the instructions and repeatedly kept getting a failure. I did a reset and used the Line 6 Updater (Turned off/on Helix, Unplugged USB cable). I selected 3.71 Update which started and about 3/4ths of the way I get a Failure. My Helix now goes into boot failure mode which shows up on the screen when it starts up. I cycle power and USB and try again, no luck. I held down the far right two-foot switches to go into "update mode" and started the firmware up date again. It failed once again this time much sooner. At this point it is a paperweight. Any thoughts on the next steps? (BTW: I did not start HX Edit to update via it as it never worked), I used the Line 6 Updater to install the firmware which I downloaded manually. I followed the sequence if installation failures to the letter. Please Help ...
Hovnarren
The exakt same thing happened to me. Although I used the HX edit to update the software. Now my HX stomp is stuck in boot. It won't start. I've tried to hold down all three pedals to factory reset but again, nothing happens. My additional issue is that my brand new Macbook Air won't let me install the Line6 Updater. The reason is that Apple doesn't know if there's spyware in the files. Can someone pleasse help me, and us. I guess we have the same problem, but you at least have the updater on your computer. Hi, One important thing to remember is HX Edit cannot connect to any HX hardware device that is in a “failed” state. I keep saying that I am going to stop doing this, but to save me from lots of typing - this is a cut ‘n’ paste from a while back. This is the usual “Fail Safe” solution provided by members of this forum. Follow this link, read it thoroughly, and follow the instructions given. Take Note: this installation technique described within was for an earlier version of the Firmware. Any references to version numbers should be the very latest available for the new 3.70 Firmware. The method for “Offline” updating is identical. Hope this helps/makes sense.
bassbene
In case you use Mac and have a somewhat up to date MacOS: Keep the Updater/Edit Window in focus all time. (As stated in the release notes) It caused me the same trouble and mild panic attacks...

TheRealDriller
This happened to me with the last update and I nearly lost all my presets having followed all instructions to the letter. I got it fixed eventually (after much stress!) with huge help from from Line6 over the telephone for which I am very grateful. i just came here because I just saw there was a new update (3.72 Jan 24) and wanted to see how it was going. i will NOT be upgrading, my machine is working fine as it is and I don’t want to take tte risk. It’s a shame because I like keeping machines up to date but this just isn’t worth the stress. My advice to others (just my regretful POV) is to hold off updating if you can unless you enjoy base jumping and other ultra high adrenaline things :-D

Hi, If, as you say, you "followed all instructions to the letter", then how would it be possible lose all your presets? The Release Notes for all Firmware Updates clearly state:- "HX Edit knows when a new update is available and will walk you through the entire update procedure for both hardware and software, including backing up everything to your computer. " (My Bold and Italics added to clarify). Before installing you should make a backup if the entire contents of your hardware device! This is normal practice. Also, the "new update" that you mention dated January 24th, was actually Firmware v.3.71.0. There is no v.3.72. The next rumoured update, according to Digital Igloo in a post over on TGP, "we're shooting for some time this summer (EDIT: or fall). 3.80 will be quite a bit smaller than 3.70". Ho, hum, although looks like you will be missing out. ;-)

The latest version of Helix firmware is v3.71.0. The latest version of HX Edit is v3.70. There was a minor firmware update that did not require an HX Edit update. Make sure that you these versions installed on your computer and Helix.

Usually, when you can’t see any of the updated amps and effects it’s because your HX Edit and firmware versions don’t match. As noted in the post above from @silverhead , HX Edit remains at v3.70 even though the firmware is now. v.3.71, which was a quick “bug fix” update. When you updated the firmware to 3.71 , part of the update process requires a factory reset. If you didn’t do a reset, that may account for you not seeing the new stuff, or maybe you’re looking in the wrong place. For example the “Bassman” that you mentioned, is actually listed as “US Dripman Norm” and can be found under the Bass Amp section. (code -8212). Hi, This crops up every once in a while - just type 8212 into the search function on the main page of this forum and see how many hits it returns. IIRC, best guess is this is due to a corrupt preset. Also, when seeking assistance from other users, it’s a great help to know exactly what computer and operating system you are using. Hope this helps/makes sense.
