Helix Control/Command Centre random reassignments

Hi all.

I've set up my bottom row on the Helix Control to have all 5 of my snapshots.

Command centre assignments are correct - but when I select a snapshot, itself and 2 others change assignment to Snapshot Up.

I continuously reassign and save but it keeps happening.

One snapshot takes a double press to correctly select - the first press turns on a stomp which i save and unassign continuously.

Any help on why this is happening would be amazing.

Hello!

It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with your Helix Control. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem: Ensure your Helix Control is running the latest firmware, as bugs are often fixed in newer updates. When assigning snapshots to footswitches, make sure to save the preset after each assignment Panorama Charter to ensure the assignments stick. Sometimes, controller assignments can interfere with snapshot assignments, so clear any unnecessary controller assignments to free up space. If the issue persists, consider performing a factory reset, but remember to back up your presets before doing this. Using the HX Edit software to manage your snapshots and assignments can sometimes be more reliable than doing it directly on the device. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be worth reaching out to Line 6 support for further assistance, as they might have more specific solutions for your problem.

This is new behavior in the Helix. You need to go through every single snapshot and create command center layout when that snapshot is selected. It’s annoying. But you can basically change the layout and what buttons do whenever each snapshot is selected.

You can avoid this by setting Global Setting -> Preferences -> Snapshot Edits to Recall. With this setting your snapshot edits will be retained while you navigate among different snapshots. You will need to Save the preset when you're finished not after each Snapshot edit.

To expand on what @theElevatorssaid -

When you assign a FS to a function, HX Snapshot in this case, that FS retains that function in ALL snapshots. If you the assign that FS to go to a specific snapshot all of the other snapshots retain the DEFAULT - in this case, NEXT, which is the same as Snapshot UP. So, when you get to the destination snapshot from Snapshot 1, the FS assignment in that snapshot is NEXT by default. You have to assign a behavior for that FS in EVERY snapshot.

IOW - if FS1 in SS1 calls SS5, FS1 in SS5 will be NEXT unless you assign it to do something else, say, go to SS3. When a function in a SS is assigned to a FS, that FS must be assigned to a specific behavior in EVERY SS else those Snapshots default to NEXT.

And I personally don't want to have the Helix save snapshots without my confirmation.  This is definitely a new behavior for Command Center, and it would be very nice to be able to make it work the way it worked in 3.15.  It's very flexible with the new behavior, but you now have to re-save your Command Center 8 times if you want to have the same layout for all 8 snapshots.

Helix doesn't SAVE a Snapshot until you SAVE the preset.

I don't recall how it worked in 3.15.

I seem to remember that the FUNCTION of a FS was always set the same in all Snapshots.

Didn't it used to set all Snapshot BEHAVIORS for a switch the same until you SAVED the preset?

IOW - set a FS to HX Snapshots FUNCTION and the BEHAVIOR to go to a different Snapshot and it set that FS to THAT behavior in all Snapshots?

I like the way it works now, as I would rather set the FS FUNCTION's BEHAVIOR in each snapshot per my needs.

I could be mis-remembering how it worked previously, I'm not sure what I had for dinner last night... :-P

Only ONE save is necessary if you have Snapshot Edits set to RECALL.

I do a lot of tweaking where I need to tweak certain snapshots.  And let's just say, saving everything at once is extremely problematic for me.  I want to save exactly what I want and when :)  Sometimes I make a tweak to a snapshot and I discard that modification.  Sometimes I want to save only one snapshot at a time, not all of them.... My presets are pretty complicated.

So again, prior to the recent update, command center allowed you to designate what each button does, but that layout would stay the same in the preset.  I know because I've created my command center layout many times, it just took 8 assignments and all worked as expected.  Now, the layout is configurable relative to the current snapshot selection.  Great?  yeah!  Is it for me?  no.  I only use snapshots personally.

I use the command center to be able to disable up/down buttons.  So if I want to use my left-most buttons and not accidentally change the preset, I press the mode button--the screen looks the same minus the up/down buttons--all snapshots are in their old place.  Also if I accidentally press the mode button I don't have a blank screen... because I don't ever use the stomp mode.... lol  I used to play a lot of stuff that relied on frequent sound changes, so I wanted to minimize any chance of going into the wrong preset, or going into a view where all my snapshot buttons are gone.

I must be misunderstanding your workflow, because you cannot, nor have you ever been able to, save a single snapshot. Snapshots are saved by saving the preset, which saves ALL of the snapshots in whatever state they're in. Snapshot Edits=RECALL prevents the loss of your changes between snapshot tweaks, WITHOUT saving the preset, unless you change presets WITHOUT saving, in which case all changes are lost, so maybe that's what you mean? I must be misunderstanding because I know that you're no rookie at this, you've been at it a long time and you're a performing PRO. Whatever, the important thing is that your workflow works for YOU, so ROCK ON!

It sounds like you're having some frustrating issues with your Helix Control snapshots. Try updating the firmware, performing a factory reset (after backing up your settings), and clearing all assignments before reassigning them. I’m not the best at organizing information, especially when it comes to writing a literature review. My brother told me about academized.com/buy-literature-review Academized, and it was such a relief. They took my research and created a clear, well-structured literature review that saved me hours of work. It’s definitely a service I’d recommend to anyone who’s feeling overwhelmed by their assignments.

Thank you.
