AnthoAllan
Hi everyone, I’m part of a duo (guitar and drums), and I use my Helix to play both guitar and bass parts simultaneously. Here’s my current setup: 1. I connect my guitar to the Guitar In on the Helix. 2. One output goes to my Marshall JCM 800 amp for the guitar signal. 3. Another output processes the low frequencies and sends them to an Orange Dual Terror amp. This setup works great and allows us to create a full sound. However, I’d like to add a new feature to expand our creative possibilities: using the Looper. The issue I’m facing is: • The Looper only works on one signal path (either guitar or bass). • When I start a loop with the Looper, I lose the live bass or guitar signal, which limits our options. My goal is to find a solution or a routing setup that allows me to record a loop with both the guitar and bass parts at the same time, while still being able to play live over the loop with a riff or melody. Do you have any advice on how to configure this, ideas to optimize my setup, or examples of routing that would work for this configuration? I’m open to any suggestions, even if additional gear is required. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi, I’m not entirely sure that I understand what you are doing, but from your description it would appear that there is a single guitar input which is being processed to produce both guitar and bass sounds. If that is the case, my guess is that after the guitar signal enters the Helix it is then split into 2 separate paths. You could try adding the Looper before the split, then once you have the loop captured and you switch to playback both the looped and non-looped signal splits as normal to produce bass and guitar at their designated outputs. If it is actually more complex than your original post, please provide more details. Note: The onboard looper is not exactly designed to be a “performance” looper, I have several external dedicated loopers suitable for various applications. It might be worth investigating the outboard options. Hope this helps/makes sense.
rd2rk
Load the attached preset. Plug your guitar into the guitar input. Plug your bass (or whatever) into the AUX input. Plug 1/4" L/MONO Out into your guitar/power amp. Plug 1/4" Right Out to your bass/power amp. Your guitar, live or looped, will come out your guitar amp. Your bass, live or looped, will come out your bass amp. Simply switch the looper from Record In/Out to loop or play live.
