Restoring only SOME of the original factory presets in an HX stomp. Is there a way?

Hi there; I've had an HX stomp for about 2 years and have used it live a lot for shows where there were no cabs allowed (band plus orchestra) etc.

Rather stupidly, when I first got it there were no factory presets on it but I knew nothing about what to expect out of the box or that it needed a factory restore/reset... I just went directly to making my own presets and now I have about 30 of them. If I do a factory restore or whatever you call it I'll get all the factory presets I never had but will lose all my custom presets I put so much time into.

How do I restore the factory presets that should be in the empty spaces on my preset list without losing my custom presets?

Is there somewhere I can just import specific factory presets from?

You can’t select specific factory resets to restore so you’ll need to proceed in several steps. First use HX Edit to save all your custom presets individually to a folder on your computer. Then perform a factory reset to restore all the factory presets. Finally, import all of your individual presets into your preferred locations. If any custom preset will overwrite a factory preset that you also want to keep then you’ll need to relocate it first.

Hi,

It might be useful to read through the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide 3.80 > pages 27-29 - Creating & Restoring Complete Device Backups, and Extracting Files from a Backup.

You can access the guide by clicking on the Question Mark icon in the lower left corner of the HX Edit GUI window, from where you can download a pdf of the information.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

one thing you can do is save your individual presets in a folder on your computer.  You can drag and drop presets from HXEdit to the folder and vice versa.

I wanted to do exactly what you were talking about.  My work around was to copy the presets I wanted to a folder, some from the factory defaults and some were mine.  I then copied an empty preset onto all of the spaces in the set list (I did this just to start with an empty set list... just to be cleaner).  Then I copied the presets from the folder into the setlist in HX Edit.  it works great.  Drag and Drop is very easy.     I also do this same sort of thing with my Helix Floor.
