guitarcd
I have been using my HX Effects as the hub and brain of my large pedalboard for years, including lots of different devices controlled via MIDI through the Command Center. The problem is that all of these devices previously were 5 pin midi. I will be getting a device soon that takes MIDI cc commands, but only connects via USB c. Googling and searching, I've only gotten info for hardware on sending from USB devices into 5 pin MIDI, or 5 pin MIDI out into a computer. Is there a simple connection of 5 pin out to USB c via a cable? Do I need some converter? Has anyone here been using their Helix or HX device from their 5 pin midi out to control a USB midi device via Command Center, and how do you physically rig this up? Thanks. silverhead
Have you tried Global Settings to enable the HX FX to send midi over usb? That should avoid the need to use the 5-pin midi jacks.
rd2rk
Helps to know what exactly you're trying to control, but assuming that it requires a HOST (it's intended to be connected to a computer) this should work: H2MIDI Pro - CME - The MIDI Experts You could also route it through an iPad or iPhone using a a MIDI HOST program such as AUM and a hub, but if you do this, be sure to get a hub with a power connector to keep the i-thingy charged during extended use. Again, useful to know the details of your use case.

I have the HX Effects on a pedalboard that I seem to re-configure every year or so. I've used the HX Effects as my central midi controller to run different loop switchers, preamps, and even my HX Stomp at one point. I am currently waiting for a Valeton GP-5 to arrive via mail-order. It has a USB C in, accepts cc midi control, and I don't believe it needs a host because I see some demos of people using setups with devices like Mwave Chocolate plus only to control it, I'm thinking I shouldn't need to add an ipad or my phone to my pedalboard (would rather not)... I'm just trying to figure out how to physically connect a 5pin midi out from my HX Effects into a USB in and send cc commands, hopefully while keeping the USB port on the HX Effects free, because when I take it home from my gigs, I connect that port to the computer editor to program this rig. You need an adapter that acts as USB-C Host (not device). See @rd2rk 's post above.
