boynigel Posted September 11 Share Posted September 11 If it's in the manual, then i'm blind. my apologies. Type, "how to backup helix stadium" into YouTube search? zero results...all for OG Helix. It was so intuitive with OG Helix- right in the File dropdown you could find, "backup system" or something to that effect. boom, done. No such option that i see in the computer app in the File dropdown. i can export individual (or groups) of presets, but i prefer to be able to save the presets, AND the whole system's setting as it was at the time of backup. I have a card reader for multiple physical sizes of SD Cards. I will periodically use the Maintenance screen to eject the SD card. I then use the reader to backup to my USB drives and a special backup hard drive I have. It may be a little convoluted but it does work well. Also, at one point it was suggested backing up the complete folder structure of the SD card this way. It helps if you format a new SD card and the folder structure is not rebuilt. The only "at once" trick I found does not backup global settings. However, if I highlight all my presets and perform an export it does backup all the preset individually at once. msj12345 Posted September 13 Share Posted September 13 The SD cards are small so dirt cheap. Go into maintenance and eject the card. pop it into your computer and copy the entire card into a folder. Then take another SD card and copy it all back onto the new card and pop it back in to the Helix. This way you know your backup works as you are using it. You have a copy of the existing card on your laptop and also a spare card you can quickly swap back in if needed. Then simply cycle the two cards the next time. Would be really nice I agree and sounds simple enough unless files are locked exclusively when in use so can't be accessed by two process at once which may be why its done in maintenance mode? You need to understand that individual backups of these items can’t just be reloaded independently at a later date and expect things to work together properly. By ‘things’ I mean the tightly integrated set of data that exists on the Stadium device. Among other things it contains User Presets, Setlists (aliases of Presets), and Showcase Songs (containing Flags that can reference Presets). If you simply load a backed up copy of your User Presets you can easily break any references to existing Presets contained in your Setlists or Songs. With OG Helix you only had to keep Presets and IRs compatible manually. With Stadium there are more individual items that you can export/import individually yet are interdependent: User Presets, Setlists, Songs, IRs, and Clones.
