ezaz
Hi I have my dreamrig with JTV, pod hd 500x and the l2m. Is it possible to change the settings of the l2m with link 6 link like changing from PA to acoustic to electirc and so on? If not, maybe a good option for the next ypdate for Pod HD 500x
silverhead
Yes you can do that. The L2m speaker mode setting is saved with the HD500x preset, although it's not obvious. You have to manually set the speaker mode on the L2m to the desired state and then SAVE the preset on the HD500x. After doing that, the speaker mode is automatically reset each time you recall the HD500x preset.
Tboneous
Does the HD500 do the same thing?
silverhead
Yes, as of firmware v2.1 and all subsequent releases.
dx2ylhv1a
Does output of the L2M mirror the speaker mode setting? So if I'm in electric guitar mode and the output is going to FOH that is what is sent to the PA? Thanks

I have copied a reply I made from a similar query which might help... Run a DMX cable between the Pod and the L2 using L6 link. This way you can switch speaker modes per patch depending whether you want electric or acoustic tones. You cannot save the speaker modes via HD edit though. To get the Pod to change modes dial in your tone as normal using HD edit, manually switch to the required mode on the Stagesource speaker the hit save on the Pod, not HD edit. If you save via HD edit the speaker mode will default to PA mode. Hope that helps, good luck
sinistralx
Is there any difference between the Lin6 brand L6 Link cable and a regular XLR cable?
silverhead
Yes. There are basically three types of cable with XLR-type end connectors. Standard XLR cable is designed to carry an analog audio signal. Both DMX and AES/EBU are designed to carry digital information, which is the type of information used in L6 Link communications. Wkipedia can help you get much more info if you like. In practical terms, standard XLR will work OK as an L6 Link cable over short distances.
