I was warned that the space would be tight so I figured..."why not!" I never really used my amplifi for guitar. I use it at home as a wireless speaker for my families iDevices. My thinking was we need a good speaker and if I can plug a guitar into it...BONUS! I never played with the iOS app. I never considered ever using this thing in public ever. And then.... I was pleasantly surprised. It couldn't have worked out any better. About a week prior to the gig I downloaded the app, quickly dialed in some tones (a clean, a crunch and a lead) I was liking my results so I got the FBV3 shortboard foot controller and I was off and running. Plenty loud enough for what we were doing. Great lead tone saturation without bursting everyones ear drums. The clean tones were a little thin and I use a Stratocasters so that thinness was accentuated. To compensate, I rolled off the strat tone knob and it did the trick. Very good Amplifi! I may be on the road to using this amp more. I've got a few issues (thinner tone, limited foot switching, low volume, among other issues) But it may be workable! Impressed so far! Very impressed and disappointed at the same time. It's is a software thing I am sure. I hope this get resolved in the future software releases. I read through the thread. Thanx for that. None of that is my issue with the foot controller. I don't care about the colors of the foot switch. I want to turn on and off EVERY effect. I don't switch form a Plexi to a Twin. So I don't have issues with the delay. It works well for me. Bank up / down to get a different set of sounds, with some variations, organized in the same order... at least using my FX100. Still trying to find out if the Aux in on the 150 is mono or stereo? I'd like to run my FX100 as my modeler into the 150 as just an amp...if the 150 dies, I can go direct with the FX100, if the FX100 dies, I can use the modeling in the 150 (...may need a FBV Express II). Backup with identical patches. :) My AMPLIFi kit is sounding and working great for me...though I still have GAS for the Helix. Dialing in tones is brain dead easy with the app IMO. Not sure what the actual SPL rating is for the 150, given the 150 watts are shared by all 5 speakers. How much power does the 12" get? How are the 150 watts distributed? What is the actual SPL? Pufferaway67 Posted August 6, 2016 Share Posted August 6, 2016 When I tried using the Aux In for Pod Pro XT processing, the volume was very low as compared to plugging the guitar directly into the normal input. I believe only the 4 drivers are being used for that signal path, not the celestion, so running your guitar signal through a processor and that input won't give you the full range sound the amp is designed to provide. So power is being separated to drive the various speakers and I'm certain 50% plus is driving the celestion.I've used my 150 at a 5 piece hard rock band rehearsal and the volume level is good. I have extra volume to spare when using the amplifi with the standard guitar input and iOS; even use my old FBV "Longboard" to control it! Some features of the old FBV don't function as they did with the Pod Pro XT... but changing banks/tones, adding/removing effects and volume work just fine. I have yet to experiment with the "wah" pedal assignment to particular effects control, such as delay length or effect mix level, but plan to when I have extra time. For the cost of this amp and the iOS updates to date, I'm pretty happy to have a solid combo to use for rehearsal & writing sessions. :) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Arrange tones into banks and then go back and forth to set volumes where you want to have them... functions pretty much the same as any system with multiple banks of editable sounds, just done in an app. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm considering adding the 30 to my live rig - it's a complex rig so won't bore you! Has anyone done any gigs with the 30? How does it handle in gig situations? No vocals, just an instrumental. Worked out very well... 2) At a rehearsal of a classic rock band, with another guitar, keyboard, bass, drums & 2 vocalists. Had to turn it all the way up, just to hear myself. Obviously, not ideal, despite this little beast being quite loud on its own. I don't think this would work well, even mic'd and going through the PA, especially if you had to depend on hearing your instrument without the benefit of a monitor. I used to play in a trio with another (acoustic) guitarist and a bass, and we'd play coffee house-type settings. cbrillow Posted May 7, 2018 Share Posted May 7, 2018 This is a simple solution, but it does require a minimal amount of technical/soldering experience, and the ability to measure and adjust the voltage to 9Vdc priot to connecting it to your Amplifi 30. I used the 12volt battery from my Fender Amp Can as the input to the DC-DC converter in the following Amazon.com link: High Current DC-DC converter The battery used isn't critical, as long as it can supply 12Vdc, with adequate current to satisfy the Amplifi. The batteries used in computer UPS equipment work well for this. Just select the one that gives you the most current at a price that you find attractive. I also use a G10 running from a USB power bank -- works great!
