  1. :D Wait, how many different accounts do you have here? I just received notification that an different user had posted this same response, nearly word for word... interesting... did you immediately delete it when you realized you were logged in to the wrong account? Very interesting... I now wonder how many of the 30.43% (NOT the 50% you stated) of those responding to the poll who thought your idea is a great one were really just you voting under different aliases...? (Psssst... I think having multiple accounts might be a violation of the Line 6 TOS... you might want to watch that...Jdenkavanicus... :) ) Aaaaand neither do you. Wait, I actually do have a CLUE... there was a poll... but time will tell, won't it? Let's keep those fingers crossed... What you are doing here is what is commonly known as "projecting"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection Wait... by that token all you need to do if you don't agree with my opinion is "mind your own business', and all you need to do if you don't agree with L6's decisions is "mind your own business" If you are that afraid of people disagreeing with you maybe you should rethink your decision to post your opinions in an open forum on the internet. You started this thread then attacked everyone who didn't agree with you, I brought up some points you didn't like and you attacked me. Not necessary or productive and you need to calm the "lollipop" down. As much as I think implementation of your idea would be a colossal waste of time and resources and a distraction from work Line 6 could be doing to move the JTV forward, I did say many times and I will repeat: I don't have any problem with the idea of you getting what you want, and I think the steps that would be necessary to make it happen (ala carte modeling) would likely be necessary in order to enable L6 to add features (new models) and real improvements that more than just a few people would like to see. In any case, rave on brother, you give them windmills heck. I already wished you luck in your pursuit, what more do you want? :D :D :D Done and done!
  2. We get it. You think the best use of Line6's limited resources is to give you and the other 4 people who simply must have the old sounds with the new features what they want. Polling shows the majority of us don't give a lollipops-arse about having access to the old sounds with the new features as we are happy with the new sounds and we are okay with rolling back to 1.9 or earlier if we really want the old sounds. Maybe if you keep complaining about it you will get what you want, good luck. I believe they would have to create an ala carte system in Workbench and the JTV firmware to make this possible so I guess it wouldn't be a COMPLETE waste of L6 time, effort, money and brainpower, as the groundwork would be laid for adding some models that more than 5 people would actually be interested in... It took Line 6 around 10 years to make any real changes in the Variax models, in the spanking new firmware we have access to fewer guitars than we started with (no Tele Thinline, Les Paul Custom, Les Paul Gold Top) so things are not trending in your favor. Dear LORD, I hope we don't have to wait 10 more years only to be told the big new development is the Jdenkavitz Signature Model 3.0 Firmware with E-Z access to all those "vintage" Variax sounds from the past... future ad blurb: "Get the sound of 2003 on your JTV - NOW WITH SIMULATED PLINK, KLANG AND WARBLE FOR MAXIMUM AUTHENTICITY!!!" Future thread: "Thank You For Doing Jdenkavitz's Thing, Now Please Make Plink, Klang, And Warble Available In Workbench: Ive had to go into workbench to wrangle changes to approximate the setup I had with my old Variax and I'm still not pleased" Eh, okay, I'm done with the ribbing. You have stated your opinion and everyone has voted, let the Sharcs fall where they may... In a users support thread... erm, what did you expect to happen? Have you gotten around to talking to someone from Line6 about your idea? What did they say? Is it possible or not? re they already working on it? Did they force you to sign a NDA? They should make one of the terms of an NDA that you can't tell anyone you have signed and NDA... IMO EDIT: P.S. I think it is HILARIOUS that people voted their JTV 2.0 "a worthless pile of 'lollipop'" if they cannot access the old models with the new features. This means that until the day 2.0 was released they thought their JTV sucked, only because it didn't allow them to turn every guitar into a 12 string...? Or blend mags with their piezos (wait they could do this already with a PodHD)...? People are funny!
  3. Those were different times... " Announcement: Changes in Line 6 SupportHide Details Hello Line 6ers, We want you to know that we’re changing how we provide you support. Previously, our forums were used as the mechanism to ask the Line 6 tech support staff and the community at large a question. The forums are still a good place to find advice about tone, computer configuration, and subjective questions about sound and application from other Line 6 users. The way to ask our tech support staff a direct question now is via a support ticket. To create a support ticket, please go to http://Line6.com/support and select 'Contact Technical Support'. To see your ticket, click My Account, then click Support Tickets. Before asking us a direct question, we ask that you please look at our Knowledge Base, video tutorials, forums and manuals, as the answer you are looking for is probably already there. Additionally, a search made in our forums may show that your question has previously been asked and answered. Marking a post as a question tells the community that you’re looking for help. Doing so also gives other members the incentive to answer it for points you can award them for helpful and correct answers. Best regards, Line 6 Support by Line6Drew (Oct 16, 2012)"
  4. I am reminded of this thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/893-line-6-please-bring-back-x3-live/
  5. Hmmm, the signal path at the moment is JTV, Headphone amp, headphones, ears... so the ears should go before the headphones or before the preamp...? JTV 1/4" out DI to ears?
  6. Me too, did not notice any latency in the 12 strings with standard tuning and measured only around 5ms. When switching to alt tunings I noticed a big latency and measured around 17ms, or an additional 12ms when compared to standard tuning. Measurements were made picking single notes with a standard plectrum, no strumming involved. And while the friction from the extra six strings on a real 12 string might slow down picking or strumming if strength and angle of attack were the same as on a 6 string, the notes would certainly not take longer to get to my ear just because there were 12 strings - this is what I am hearing on the 12s with alt tuning, the alt tuning is causing a longer delaybetween the time a note is struck and it reaching my ears.
  7. Also, I am not 100% sure that what is going on in the 12 string emulation is a simple pitch shift - glitches in the 2.0 software show the processing is behaving differently than a regular pitch shifter. If you have not already, try this: Physically tune your D string one step down to C. Select the Chime 2 Rickenbacker 12 string and play the string open a few times until you hear what sounds like a car crashing. Hear that hugely out of tune clash? The string is sounding a C but the JTV is generating a C the same as the string tuning with the simulated octave string sounding a C#. Now slowly turn the D string tuner sharper and you will hear the lower not rise while the higher octave note stays the same UNTIL both notes are in tune, similar to what a "smart" harmonizer does when you play a note that is not in the scale you have set the harmonizer to follow. Try it! Then please explain what is going on. According to Line 6 it is impossible for the JTV to generate an alt tuned note more than one octave above the note it is tracking, but this experiment says otherwise. According to Line 6 support the JTV is calibrated to operate with the guitar tuned to standard tuning only, and tuning the string to anything other than standard tuning is not supported. Another L6 support person tells me that harmonics are confusing the alt tuning and the problem is possibly due to the guitar's setup (buzzing fret rattle or bad intonation), I thought this might be the case and had already checked the intonation and raised the action so sky-high at the nut that the string could not possible be hitting any of the frets when played open but this does nothing to reduce the amount of random pitch generation. Explanation?
  8. Really...? Have you played the 12 string acoustics in HD 2.0 alt tuned down 3 or 4 half steps? I would be surprised if anyone tried this and did not feel the notes coming out of their headphones waaaaaaayyyyyy after they are played. It feels like I am playing in slow motion, if playing without a timing reference I keep feeling myself slowing down waiting for the sound in my headphones to catch up to what my fingers are doing.... unless that is what you mean when you say " filtering artifacts" - I always thought that time delay I am experiencing (around 17ms between the time I strike a note and it is played back by my JTV as shown in the ProTools screen caps above) ) was what everyone means when they say "latency". Am I misunderstanding what you are saying?
  9. The Tyler piezo bridge is junk IMO, poorly designed and even more poorly manufactured I am really hoping GraphTech or someone else will step up eventually with a nice no mod required replacement option. Oh, and my bridge makes lots of crazy noises too. Currently looking for a good fix.
  10. I am going to say at least 147 (the current number of upvotes for the most popular Line 6 product idea, "add some more metal amps to the Pod HD series"). The current top idea for JTV is "add a nylon string model" with 93 votes. I understand the hesitancy regarding opening yet another online account and I think it would be better if this kind of thing were part of the Line 6 site, but I accept it for what it is and must forge ahead. No one there liked my idea of being able to control the amount of trem spring rattle in the Spank models and string rattle/resonance in the R-billy models, but I did notice the spring sound has been tamed in the 2.0 Spank models and I am quite happy with the improvement.
  11. Yeah, but after 10 days on Ideascale it only has 3 upvotes ... INCLUDING MINE! :( Not a popular idea, it seems the tribe has spoken. Guess I will get busy hacking up the body of my JTV to add a real B Bender :o The REAL clever idea is ideascale itself - why pay a bunch of guys big bucks to sit around and think of new product ideas and improvements and focus group-ing everything to death, when you can save time money and energy by letting people on the internet dream up future innovations for you! Smart indeed...
  12. Nope. Do you? Nuh uh... how 'bout you? Not a bit. You? Quite a number, as in 3 or 4? What is the exact number of users who have requested this? What were their names? What evidence do you have to support your claim? I have only seen evidence of a few, but maybe if they keep repeating themselves it will SEEM like "quite a number"... Are you saying the people who are forced to choose between 1.9 modeling or 2.0 features will never be "happy customers, who are willing to sing their praises of the product to others"? 3 or 4 additional "happy customers" spreading the joy of JTV by word of mouth is probably not going to add much to Line 6's bottom line or do much to recoup the additional $$$ spent adding the old tones to the new firmware. Aren't you "assuming" Line 6 has received any feedback at all on this subject? No? Eh, me neither. I don't know and neither do you. But based on my limited knowledge of how the world works I bet it would be much more effective and productive to contact L6 directly on this matter or post on ideascale where they have requested we post ideas for improving their products than it is to go on and on about it in this forum. I do not know whether Line 6 is aware of peoples' opinions on this matter and neither do you. I do not necessarily think your idea is a bad one, it just does not seem to be very popular in this forum and I have seen no evidence of it being popular outside this forum. And I doubt that any amount of restating it here is going to raise a groundswell of support, but I do wish you luck in your endeavors and hope you get everything you want out of your JTV. Let's try another poll to get an idea of how important this is to other users here: http://line6.com/support/topic/2273-how-important-is-it-to-you-to-have-access-to-the-19-tones-in-the-20-firmware/
  13. Ha, no worries, great minds think alike :D and I don't know if others posted the idea before me but it is a good one IMO
  14. Wish I'd thought of that... Wait, I did! I submitted that idea to http://line6.ideascale.com/ last week... quick, everybody go there and upvote it to oblivion!
  15. How about starting a "Kickstarter" thingy, goal $1,000,000, each guitarist pays $100, when you get to $1 million you turn the money over to Line6 and say "Here's a million dollars, now give us those acoustic models!" Terms of the Kickstarter state that in the case Line 6 says no nobody has to pay the $100. Deal? Line 6 probably isn't going to spend the time and money to bring those models to the Variax based on one guy offering $100, but if you can get 100,000 guitarists pledging that kind of money that might get their attention. And there probably aren't 100,000 people with JTVs, but nothing should stop a person who REALLY wants those acoustic models from donationg more money, right? Maybe one person would be willing to pay $200 for the acoustic models, and another $1000... I have seen successful Kickstarters based on more ridiculous things.
  16. Hmmm, don't remember saying anything about that... that sounds like a topic for another thread. For the purpose of this poll it is an "either/or" scenario. Vote or don't. Some here seem to assume that Line 6 has the unlimited resources and motivation to create infinite versions of firmware that will satisfy every unique user's particular desires and tastes. My personal assumptions are: 1. there will be a finite number of versions of firmware for the JTV over the life of the product 2. there is a limit to the amount of time and money Line 6 will invest rewriting the JTV firmware 3. there are hardware, storage, and processing limitations within the JTV itself 4. Line 6 will focus its efforts on making the greatest amount of profit possible by making the product as appealing as possible to as many people as possible. As much as I would love it if my JTV could do anything anyone could ever dream up, I assume there will be some limitations in the real world. I accept that and am trying to enjoy the JTV in its current state while adding my ideas for improvements in this forum and at http://line6.ideascale.com/ , I would suggest you do the same. The purpose of this poll is to determine what is most appealing JTV firmware-wise to the users of this forum based on past and current versions of the firmware and how much users value past and current firmware features when compared to specific hypothetical future improvements. If you have other ideas about where the firmware should be headed please start your own poll or thread, I for one would love to hear any ideas anyone has. I do believe there is already a thread on this subject, you may wish to post there: http://line6.com/support/topic/2067-post-your-wishlist-for-the-next-update/
  17. Here's how I can tell - WORKING JTV INTERFACE: NON-WORKING JTV INTERFACE: Some USB Dongle testimonials from satisfied users: Hint: Don't use the USB interface for updating the JTV firmware if you have other options. Also, find other options.
  18. To get an idea of forum users interests and preferences. Feel free to start your own poll if there are other questions you think should be asked or other options poll participants should be given. Maybe start a poll on whether I should have included more options in this poll :D And don't forget to vote!
  19. You should start a poll! :P I think if I were voting between A. Changing EQ in Pod HD, + coming out with JTV/Acoustic+Bass, + a prettier JTV69 *or * B. Adding new modeled guitars to JTV and new amps to Pod HD I would vote B. every time. But then I doubt it is the same team and resources dedicated to working on the HD firmware as it is designing new guitars. Wonder if it's the same people working on the POD firmware/modeling and the JTV stuff...? Do they really have halt development on one product to work on another? I guess that would explain why it took 10+ years to get the first upgrade on the Variax modeling...
  20. It is a waste of space and a waste of Line 6's resources if this feature would only appeal to one customer, or a few customers. Please explain how spending time and money creating firmware that will do what you want it to do will in the end be profitable for Line 6. And go here and cast your vote for what should be included in future versions of JTV firmware! : http://line6.com/support/topic/2271-jtv-20-poll/
  21. Oh well, he admits he gave you the negatives... the negative/positive vote thing is there for a reason, you have the right to use it as much as anyone... I empathize with the problems you are having with your guitar but really you should try to get along here or move on. You might notice Zap has more than 6000 POSITIVE votes here, many from people he has helped over the years. He really is a L6 EXPERT, and he really does know things the rest of us don't, and nearly all of what he posts here is good info or helpful in some way. He is also entitled to his opinion (IMO  ) as are you, but... maybe try to keep it civil...
