Lord jesus, Line6 please make a global input gain level. The pad in isn't enough for some of my high output guitars. The Cali IV amps for clean (sounds very good on my Stratocasters Single Coils and low output guitars) have incredible clipped sound (it sounds very ugly) with pad off on my P90 pickup guitars and Bare Knuckle Juggernaut Humbuckers. Lowering the gain of the amp won't do the service. It sounds okay with Pad In on the high output guitars. But it sounds miles better with the input turned down by a good bit in Helix Native (which has a input slider, so perfect, thanks for that!). This isn't possible on the Helix hardware unit though. It drives me insane. If you don't believe me test out the Cali IV Rhyhtm clean with Helix Native input turned down and Output turned up from the Output of Helix Native. Compare it to Helix Hardware with Pad In and Off on certain high output guitars. -> It sounds terrible there!! The Helix Inputs definitely need an update for a proper Input fader like in Helix Native. That is a basic musthave for proper gain staging!!

Sync'ing Hardware Helix with Helix Native plug-in
supertonic_jack replied to bsd512's topic in Helix
It is 2022 and I had to drag every single one of the IRs from Helix Edit to Helix Native. This is insane. As soon as I export the IRs, they all have the timestamp, so the order of the IRs is completely different than on my Helix LT. It wouldn't make sense to import it like this messy mess into Native. Also when selecting a bunch of them it is totally unreliable. Sometimes they don't get copied over, sometimes they do, and sometimes they do, but in a different order (talking about drag&drag between the helix edit and helix native windows) This is insane. When will they offer us a proper solution where you don't have to spend your evening just to sync the two environments. -
same! It is crazy how often I need to manually sync the IRs between native and LT. I can only export and import the files alphabetically between those two. But not in the order how I want.

Yes you heard right. I came to a setlist I use from time to time and I suddenly saw that some of the presets don't have a name or have some random symbols as names (image 2). Never named them like this of course. Tried to rename them as well, but they just revert to their state of name after the renaming try. I tried to overwrite them of course (image 1) but suddenly I get this error message and the helix and helix edit does not respond anymore. I need to restart both. After a restart the presets are still not overwrittable. It is an endless loop. I can't overwrite them. Next thing I tried to import another setlist over the faulty one. After about 12% of loading the new setlist the long error message (image 2) pops up. So basically there is no way to overwrit this setlist and fix this annoying bug?

Failed to connect to DSP engine 8201

I can confirm I had the same problem with many reaper projects on my win 10 (both win and reaper on newest version of course). -
Actually this image finally showed me which frequencies EXACTLY to consider during the volume changes I undergo everyday with my helix. pretty helpful ! :)
 -
yep like that thing too. wish there were more bands and more eq settings possible though. Then it would be a piece of cake to recreate something like the inverted fletcher munson curve for the trebles and so on... still great though yep
 -
damn I know this curve, but I didn't think of it! pretty clever to suggest that ;) I mostly play/played smaller venues and quieter rehearsals, but yeah some of the difference could be due to the increase of trebles (and bass) during the increase of volume.

Thanks guys! I already read the linked posts and had a look at the spreadsheet. I will stick to 1M Ohm input like I did before ,yeah. I will adjust everything else so that it sounds good after that. I will keep in mind what effects could sound terrible due to the mismatched input of 1M (mostly fuzzes and delays anyway. ok the screamer is important for me but I sounds good anyway). Do you guys also have the feeling that via most PAs and Monitors the Amps (in a full chain with effects and cabs) in the Helix sound a bit too bright sometimes? Well I have the tone knob I use quite a lot on my guitars, depending on the system I play the Helix over. Of course I adjust the Amp (Treble e.g.) and the effects and EQing so that it sounds good at home. But live sometimes it can be a bit harsh. I know this all sounds wishywashy (since every speaker has a own frequency response, and the room and treatments have huge impact on the overall perception of my presets) but It is just some rough feeling I got about the helix stuff. You share the same view?
 -
The Guitar In-Z is the simulation of the impedance, right? I had most of my presets on 1M Ohm. Most of them were to bright on most of my guitars. But I turned down the tone knob on my guitars to around 50%, then it was fine. An electric engineering friend of mine just told me that 1M Ohm is not a realistic value in the real world. The amp inputs of real amps are not that high. He said they are up to 100k Ohm. I just googled and this article says something different: Impedance Considerations With Electric Guitars The pickups generally used in electric guitars and basses are primarily inductive rather than capacitive (because of the coils used under the strings), and are also highly resistive simply because of the sheer amount of wire involved (typically up to 10kΩ), although different styles and makes of pickup can vary enormously. Since the pick-up presents a relatively high output impedance, it is normal to provide guitar preamp and DI inputs with a hugely high input impedance. A minimum value is typically 470kΩ, but many are over 1MΩ and a few, designed for accepting feeds from magnetic pickups in some acoustic guitars, are rated even higher than this. source: https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/understanding-impedance So know I am really confused. Who is right? What is right? The question to you out there: What impedance do you use at your Helix input? 70k Ohm? 1M Ohm? Auto? And why? Why not use Auto all the time? Or why should I use Auto all the time? What does Auto really do? Is it reliable with all guitars? Thanks and Kind regards ;)

@rd2rk I go into the Mixing Console (X18 or X32 most of the time) with my Helix wet XLR and the 1/4" dry DI out. I have an-ears system that comes out the mixing console of course. Great idea with the MIDI. what is 20'? is that something imperial like the 1/4"? feet I guess, right?

The length of the Looper in the Helix Unit

Has anything changed regarding that topic? :D -
sorry for that! it was wrong information. The SHIFT swap worked on my old Spider 4 remote control software. For Helix (and Helix native?) it does NOT work unfortunately. Or were there any changes in the meantime? 2 years later.......

Do you guys have any other recommendations regarding splitting and reamping? Here is my signal path (attachment). Should be fine for split recording right? So no matter where I go and play, I can always just send 2 line signals to the mixer/interface and get a clean recording of my Helix wet sound AND a DI dry signal for reamping later. I just need to keep in mind to keep the distance of the 1/4" DI ouput rather short, right? So I don't get to much interferences in the unbalanced cable. What do I need to keep in mind when reamping the DI line signal later on after recording the "live performance"? Cheers
 -
thanks for your answers, guys! yeah the global settings will do the trick. nice to know I can change that as well :) prepared for wet+dry recording at the same time then :D great!
 -
I was wondering if I need a High-Z input for the split signal I want to use for all my presets, so I record the DI guitar simultaneously, together with the processed sound from the Helix. For all my presets I have a A/B split going from the beginning of the chain (so before all the effects/amps/cabs) to the 1/4" output. It should be as dry as it can get then. There is a mono jack-cable plugged in, which goes to the mixer/interface of course then as well. So is the signal on that cable line signal or is it similar to a real high impedence guitar signal? Thanks in advance! Kind regards

Helix Native code -1116 'Could not decrypt the asset'
supertonic_jack replied to supertonic_jack's topic in Helix Native
Thanks for the reply. Ah ok, that what the yellow pick means, ok. Those are Factory presets though. Well yes, I logged in. Didn't work still. Uninstalled again and the next time I installed and opened it, it got my account right away without logging in and authorization, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I guess the user account control (2 users on one pc) might have something to do with it... This is a really weird bug. In case it happens again, I will write here again... Cheers -

Helix Native code -1116 'Could not decrypt the asset'
supertonic_jack posted a topic in Helix Native
Hi, running my Helix Native 1.82 in Reaper v6.01 I added a second Windows user on this Windows 10 machine. After authorizing Helix on the second account I noticed there are small picks beside the presets. What do the yellow picks mean anyway? When I click the preset to use it, the error in the sreenshot attached shows up. (Error Code -1116). Manually I'm still able to use Helix and build a new effectchain. I just can't use the presets. I also did a factory reset, as well as reauthorized it and even reinstalled it. Yesterday with only one Windows account on this machine there had not been any difficulties... Anybody know anything about that error code or the yellow pick icons? Thanks in advance! -
After Resetting, updating, a couple of restarts, restoring the backup and restarting again it rebuilded the presets. An after that it is the same old problem. Bank up + bank down together don't work anymore. Now at least it stays in the same bank when I press one of the bank buttons. Damn this is such an annoying problem
 -
A couple of days after I reset my helix, the same problems started again. I couldn't get out the snapshot mode properly. I'm in the middle of doing the update to 2.82. I will write again after I verified this hopefully fixed the bug....
 -
I just did a complete factory reset and then restored my backup. Now it works again. What a huge relief. Unfortunately it seems like there are some weird display bugs that disappear quickly though. I will keep you informed, keep on rocking guys
 -
I did a Global reset and after that I could exit at least the snapshot mode (but not to snapshots but to the signal chain mode, with the stomps and so). Thanks for the tip anyway... Problem is still though, when I want to see my Presets again It only works with the bank up and down switches. But when I press up, the presets shown are the ones one bank below (so when I press bank up from snapshot mode, it goes from bank 1 where I was to bank 31 and 32), and when I press down the presets shown are the ones 2 banks higher (so the banks 3 and 4). Doesn't make any sense. This is completely random lollipop. Hence I still can't quit from snapshot mode in bank 1 on my preset 1 back to the bank overview (preset mode) on bank 1-2. Only possible to change to banks 31-32 and banks 3-4. This is pointless....

I experienced the same problems. During a gig. Bravo, thanks line 6. WTF

The length of the Looper in the Helix Unit
supertonic_jack replied to supertonic_jack's topic in Helix
I asked a friend of mine, which knows a lot about technical backgrounds and engineering. He says it would cost Line6 just a couple of Cents to a Dollar more to increase the Memory on the Chip^^ It is a joke to save a couple of cents for such a basic core feature in my opinion.
