Try it both ways and use the solution that sounds best. If the preamp with Channel Volume maxxed is too quiet, follow it with a GAIN Block. You can then use Snapshots to control the amount of gain sent to the Amp1. Once you've got 4cm set up, you can toggle the HX preamp and Amp1 preamp for comparison by saving the Preamp/Amp/Gain Block bypass ON and the FX Loop Bypass OFF. If you assign them all to the same FS, each time you hit the assigned FS they'll toggle - HX Pre/Amp/Gain ON with FX Loop OFF bypasses the Amp1 "Voice" and vice versa.

Computers. Can't live with them, hitting them with a stick is satisfying but expensive.

I have Reaper and Helix installed on two different W11 machines, one upgraded from W10, no problems. What processor is in your computer? Mine are both i7, different gens (7 & 11). I've read of people with other processors having problems. Assuming you've got an Intel processor, try installing one of the other FREE DAWs such as LIVE Intro, see if you still have problems. Maybe Reaper somehow got corrupted?
-
IDK how you reinstalled the drivers, but if you re-install the latest version of HX Edit (download it - v3.82), that is the correct way. You MAY have to uninstall all L6 drivers, reboot and try again if re-installing HX Edit alone fails to solve the problem. Sometimes having multiple old versions installed can cause issues.

It doesn't matter what you think you see in the preset. The only thing that matters is what is actually being sent. Here's a simple FREE monitor: MIDIView - Free MIDI Monitor tool for Win & Mac Here's an online monitor: Disaster Area Designs MIDI Monitor
-
Load a MIDI Monitor program so that you can see what EXACTLY is being sent. Using the preset that works, note (on paper) the messages being sent by each Snapshot. Do the same with the preset that doesn't work. This procedure will show you where the problem lies.

Can't Add A New Block To Helix LT Preset-Stuck in "None"

Sometimes a preset can become "corrupt". No cure but to overwrite it and start over. -

troubleshoot Helix Floor - Send/Return FX Loops not True Bypass?
rd2rk replied to rmbecker23's topic in Helix
Gain pedals are inherently noisy. The HX FX Loop adds a small amount of noise. The inherently noisy gain pedal amplifies that noise. Put gain pedals between the guitar and Helix. If you MUST put a gain pedal in an FX Loop, use a Helix FS or Snapshot to bypass the FX Loop, rather than the pedal FS.- 7 replies

Using HX Stomp presets in Native - footswitch parameter changes
rd2rk replied to mogularpb's topic in Helix Native
The opposite. You can assign multiple parameters to a single CC, but not multiple CCs to a single parameter. -
That's not normal. I've used my HXS in every imaginable configuration - in front of amps, in loops, with stuff in its loop, etc. Never had that sort of problem with any HXS amp, hi-gain or other. Open a support ticket.

Using HX Stomp presets in Native - footswitch parameter changes
rd2rk replied to mogularpb's topic in Helix Native
Native doesn't respond to FS based messages. You need to use MIDI CC directly set to the parameters you want to control. Since I don't use Native like this, I tested using Native preset 000 (US Double Nrm) by setting the Amp Drive parameter to CC#102 (what the MIDI controller I have connected to Native on my office PC - HXS - happens to be using in the PLUGINS preset) with a MIN value 0f 3.5 (default) and a MAX value of 6. I set the Feedback parameter of the Tape Delay to the same CC# and MIN value 20% (default) and MAX value to 65%. Works perfectly - lead tone with extra repeats. There's no reason your FCB won't work the same way. -
Check Global Settings>Inputs/Outputs and set the Output you're using to INSTRUMENT. IDK about the UA, but ToneX Output is INSTRUMENT level. Turn down the Channel Volume on those amps? That's all I've got! Maybe ask BOSS? Good Luck!

Powercab 112 input volume and HX Stomp XL output volume
rd2rk replied to rhythmicdevil's topic in Catalyst
I think you mean raising the Output Volume in NATIVE before sending to the HXS? If it works for you, go for it! -
Powercab 112 input volume and HX Stomp XL output volume
rd2rk replied to rhythmicdevil's topic in Catalyst
If you use the HXS as your interface you can build your presets in HX Edit, record both the effected sound AND a dry track simultaneously for re-amping, and drag & drop your HXS presets to Native, or use presets you create in Native, but you only use Native for re-amping. -

In that case your options are limited. May I ask, WHY are you using Native to create your presets vs doing it on the HXS using HX Edit? I see no advantage to that. -
Powercab 112 input volume and HX Stomp XL output volume
rd2rk replied to rhythmicdevil's topic in Catalyst
I no longer have a Powercab but IIRC, I solved this problem by boosting the INPUT levels in the SYSTEM settings of the Powercab. That's Global, so it will affect all presets. -
sending CC# 7 to HX Stomp via usb to control volume: is this the correct CC#?
rd2rk replied to rochesterdude's topic in Helix
HXS does not respond to CC#7. You need to assign your Exp pedal to the Output Block Level parameter in each preset. IOW - no Global Control via MIDI Reserved CC#7. -
Sure you did. Your entire tone was uninformed, combative and accusatory. The PHYSICAL DSP - the actual chipset - is the same as it ever was. The DSP CODE has been changed countless times over the years. What you read was wrong. Wrong again. Do what I told you to do over on TGP to get the real facts. No need. Again, go to TGP where Digital Igloo - aka Eric Klein, the L6 Chief Product Design Architect - has repeatedly assured us that at least one more update is in the works. I don't use Facebook, but DI also posts on at least one Facebook group.

In 2016 Helix was $1500. You got a deal! Especially factoring in inflation! $1500 in 2015 is worth approximately $2058 today! Considering that Helix was the flagship for 10 YEARS, I wouldn't say that it was killed by "rapid product generations". Since further updates, though likely minor, ARE still being planned, you can't really claim "lack of support". The "latest model" of the Helix Floor is identical to the first model of the Helix Floor. Only the SW has changed through 10 YEARS of updates. Also, bug fixes and other support will be available for years to come. HONESTLY, ALL products eventually reach their End Of Life. I have a synth that was a high-end/high-dollar unit in the mid-eighties, used by top bands. The company that made it (Seiko) doesn't even remember that they ever made synths! I discovered that when I tried to get a manual from them. TO BE QUITE HONEST, you knew that a new flagship was on the horizon, YOU CHOSE to take the deal on the OLD tech, rather than spend the coin required to get the NEW tech. And now you're whining! In LARGE FONT! You are the poster child for ENTITLED ATTITUDE! MAN UP! Take responsibility for your choices! Lastly, ROCK WHAT YOU GOT! If it NEVER gets another update, it's STILL some of the VERY BEST gear on the market!

No. When you load the HX preset, any and all CC Toggling messages assigned to footswitches will send the MIN value assigned in the saved/default SS. If you use a FS to send the MAX value, the MIN value will send on the next SS change. I've always wished that behavior was optional (DO NOT send FS Toggling CCs on SS Change), but it is what it is.

This is a user-to-user support site. No one from Line6 hangs out here. Go to The Gear Page>Digital and Modeling Gear and search for posts by @Digital Igloo (Eric Klein of L6). You'll find many replies to your question "Will there be updates and when". The short answer is "YES" and "When we get around to it". That has been the answer to the question since the Helix was first released in 2015. Rock what you got in the knowledge that you paid less and got A LOT more than what I got when I bought mine in 2016.

Now you're seeing my point. If you are hearing (while recording) the dry guitar through the mixer, AND the processed sound at the same time (with the track monitor switch ON), then there should be a way, using the mixer controls, to mute the DRY guitar and hear ONLY the processed signal from the DAW. Every dedicated Audio Interface provides this function. It could be that your MIXER is designed to output both at the same time, but not either/or. What model Soundcraft mixer do you have? I'll check the manual and see if I can figure out what's up.

1) Not without an ABY box. 2) Not without a mixer. 3) Yes.
