  1. Please put any software/firmware/hardware bugs you discover in the Helix here. Hopefully they will be addressed in future updates. If the issue turns out to be user error instead of a bug perhaps someone can offer up the correct procedure. Please include your firmware version when you post your bug. Thanks! This topic is not intended for bad-mouthing the Helix but for providing Line6 with maximum feedback to assist them in fixing issues as early as possible. Please provide as much info as you can on your use case so they can recreate the problem in their "lab". Important: Please submit a support ticket once you establish you have indeed discovered a bug. Line6 has a process in place for bugs and you have a much better chance of them seeing and responding to your issue here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/ Please come back in to this topic and comment that your bug has been fixed once and if Line6 addresses it. Thanks! Submit your bug in whatever manner communicates the issue best but here is a suggested format. Hardware: Helix (e.g. Helix, LT, HX Stomp, Pod Go, etc.) Firmware/Editor: Firmware 2.82; HX Edit 2.82 (Make sure to include your firmware and editor version, hopefully the latest, don't want to waste Line6's time with bugs that have already been fixed) OS: Windows 10 (Include your OS if relevant to issue, computer hardware/manufacturer also if pertinent) Global Settings: Bottom row presets, top row pedals [assigns] (Include any global settings you think could pertain to your bug) Attach Preset: Attach your preset if you think it will help troubleshoot the issue! Bug: When saving preset to another list, pedalboard reverts to Factory 1 list song 1 ("WhoWatt 100") after save. (Short description of bug) (Step by step description of how to reproduce bug) Use Preset knob to select preset from Factory 1 list (I selected 21C "Almost Not Fair") Save "Almost Not Fair" to User 5 list in the first position, 1A. After Save Helix home screen reverts back to the first song in Factory List 1 ("WhoWatt 100").
  2. Hi all. I'm currently still on firmware 2.81. Had no issues with my helix floor until upgrading firmware a few months back. After the backup and upgrade a whole heap of presets I'd made did not function properly, with 'snapshot unable to be recalled' (or a very similar message) being shown in HX edit. What I found was that reverb or delay blocks seemed to be at fault and I had to go through and change them (delete block and add it back in again) and re-save all the presets so they worked again and could be saved and reconfigured in snapshots. Now I have that all fixed I have recently, in the last 3 weeks, experience my unit starting to cut out, either indefinitely, ie screen still lit, ability to change presets and snapshots etc but no audio coming from the unit, or the unit will stutter, ie I could play a chord and let it ring and the audio being transmitted either to monitors or amp (this happened live at the weekend) cuts in and out in a very random and digital way. There's no manipulation of the sound (warping etc), just like there is a mute switch being flicked on and off intermittently. It feels like this is a processor issue, but I don't really know. Any recommendations? Should I just backup the unit and update to the latest firmware and hope this fixes the problem?
  3. Howdy all, first time posting. I've had my Helix since about late 2018/early 2019. It has always worked without a problem for the past few years. Recently it started giving me the :-28 and :-33 errors. Of course these told me it was time to actually update the firmware since I hadn't done that since purchasing (bad idea, I'm aware. Haha). I got it updated and thought any freezing or failure to boot issues were resolved. But boy, was I wrong. The issues have since gotten worse with updating from 2.3 to 3.1 It has only properly booted once, and then it stopped working before I finished playing my first song for warmups. Since then, I reinstalled the 3.1 update and it has not helped. I either get the :-28 error and it never boots, I get the :-33 error and it doesn't boot and goes into update mode, or it just freezes before booting up. This most recent time trying again it actually booted to my first preset screen, but was frozen from there and wouldn't turn pedals on/off or go into tuning mode. Please help. Since purchasing this unit a few years ago I've since gotten rid of my entire set up and went all digital. I just want to practice my warmup songs and then play. Lmao
  4. I've a new unit I just purchased a week or so ago, so maybe I'm missing something here.... In the global settings there's a setting which allows you to reverse the pedals. IE: normally the pedal full forward is 100% open and back is 0% closed. I've been trying to set the volume pedal (EXP2) to control the volume of the compressor in my chain. I remove the assignment from the pedal and bypass it so it doesn't control volume at all. And now assign it to the compressor as normal and set the min/max on the compressor volume with the sliders. It works and changes the volume as it should, except I'd like the pedal itself to be reversed so it's full on when back and off when forward. Setting this in Global Settings, EXP2 polarity, has no effect whatsoever. However....if I set EXP1 to reverse polarity, then it works. Except this isn't EXP1, and then the Wah Pedal is reversed too. So it seems this is a bug? Or am I missing something here somehow? I should also add that I am fully upgrade with the newest firmware.
  5. HI! I have a great problem with HX Stomp. When I use it with my computer (I connect HX Stomp to computer via USB) for example to record a song or to make a video tutorial ecc... it disconnects all my devices... I use an iMac late 2013, when I connect my HX Stomp, in 3-4 minutes it disconnects my webcam, my mouse, my keyboard, my microphone and my audio interface.... all devices! I'm sure that is HXStomp because I've tried a lot of tests... changing cables, changing USB ports, changing MacOS, and this problem happen only when HX Stomp is connected. Please can you help me?
  6. While I waited for the release of 2.80 I was hoping there would be something good I could use in the release. However, I did update to 2.80 and discovered the drag and drop in HX Edit no longer worked the way 2.71 did. I was not able to drag and drop or move positions of effects. I put in a ticket to Tech Support and was told that if I didn't like it I could return to 2.71. I did return to 2.71 and waited till recently to try 2.82 only to discover that the HXEdit 2.82 and the Helix 2.82 Firmware still did not fix the drag and drop issue I have. Not only did the Drag and Drop issue not get resolved, the Helix Quit responding to SysEx Progam Change MIDI commands. I would put in another ticked but it appears to me that Tech Support is more interested in closing tickets than resolving problems or reporting them to Engineering. I thought I'd post here to possibly shame Tech Support and Engineering in to taking this seriously! I have two different machines that Run Win 10, an Hp Spectre and a MS Surface Pro. Both have the same issue. I don't see any other complaints about this problem listed by other users so Really it's an isolated problem? I returned to 2.71 again and it works perfectly. I can't see how no-one else has this problem. Am I the only one using it this way? Naw! So here's a recap; Issue # 1 Can't drag/move effects and HX Edit 2.8x using mouse (Click/Hold/Drag) to move Effects positions. Now it seems the new version just allows Copy and Paste to to the same thing. I can move positions using the Helix display with no problem Issue #2 Can't Move or Copy and Paste Splits using HX Edit. Now it seem we have to delete the split and create a new one in a different position to accomplish this. I can move splits using the Helix display just fine. Issue #3 2.82 Helix Firmware quit responding to Program Change commands on ANY channel. I could see they were being sent thru a MIDI debugger. I reverted back to 2.71 and everything works fine. EXCEPT, I don't have the opportunity to use new features (Amps/Effects) in 2.82. I'm not happy that I am stuck with 2.71! Please work on resolving these issues for me! Like I said the last time I put in a ticket for this issue the Tech Closed the Ticket after sending me back to 2.71. If there's anyone else having this issue please chime in! Thanks!
  7. I'll admit it I was one of the guys screaming for Line 6 to get there finger out and release this update, of course, they didn't take any notice and none of what I said or any of the other excited customers were screaming either, we got slammed and shot down by all the 'protectors of the realm', don't get me wrong here, I really like my helix, ( I don't love it ) As a tool to get great tones for my gigs, I'm a part-timer I do around 2-4 gigs a week in pubs and clubs and can make a few quid to pay for our cars or holidays, its a nice income stream, I'm not a full-time muso I do have a decent 50hr per week day job too. Helix suits me, as for me its good balance between costs and quality, I enjoy using it and thus far has been as reliable as my POD2, XT Live!, HD500X, it was a natural upgrade, I use the Helix direct to my FOH, I don't use and foldback and have no amps on stage, basic... I know my gear well though, I've been doing the above for over 20 years successfully. So this 2.8 update that they have rolled out... mmm, I did upgrade but quickly rolled back as its not ready guys... And I can see many people are using it successfully, maybe they don't use their gear the same as myself for example and so they won't see the bugs the whole upgrade process was incredibly slow, and even stopped halfway through, ( expected but not good ). My experience with the 2.8 release os one of disappointment, the platform runs slower, and yes tell me I'm wrong, but I know my gear and my helix runs slower with 2.8, L6 has managed to break several users Units with this update, maybe pilot with a few errors but many aren't, they appear to follow the instructions (how many pages). We are supposed to be thankful that L6 is giving us this for free according to some folk on here, they still don't get the concept of 'We bought a platform!' how else do we use it, L6 has an obligation to there customers to make sure that the rollouts are as trouble-free as possible, who beta tested this crap? don't tell me the 'L6 Ambassadors'? a few brand loyal consumers.. I honestly think that L6 beta program is to blame, L6 has a lot of users that really know the gear well but don't comment on here or TGP, users that play and use the gear for real every week.. not in a church or bedroom but on a stage or studio for cash... these are the guys and gals that can tell you if there's an issue anywhere with the platform, I'm sure some of the beta testers also do these gigs but I know for fact that some of them do not, So for all of the folks that think L6 is giving us these updates for free, Line6 have sold a platform (operating environment)that they have control of, they don't sell upgrades because consumers wouldn't buy into the platform without updates.. Think Android and you're nearly there.. How about all those that said they'll release it when its ready... They haven't... Those that think its amazing.. MMmm no Those who rolled back... Good on ya Ready for the onslaught of hate.. check
  8. Hello all, As a completely new user and member in this community, I apologize in case my question was already answered as I couldn't find useful information. I was playing around in the Helix Native, to organize a specific sound I am going for in taste, by using some 3-rd party IR's. What have bothered me and can't understand how and if able to fix, but when I am using for example the OwnHammer IR's or any other IR's, they work fine inside Helix's IR loader. However recently I managed to capture a particular old record of mine, that I really like how it came out in the final guitar mix (particular room, mics used etc) and I made my own custom IR. That IR can work just fine in any other IR loader (i.e. Recabinet 5 or NadIR). For some reason when I load the same custom IR into Helix Native, no matter if I select 1024 or 2048 and scroll down to the .wav file itself and I try to play it or listen to the already recorded guitar track in my DAW, there is no sound at all :( I tried playing around with the settings of the Helix IR's, but the sound will come only if I turn it off and leave the raw amp head emulation without any cabinet IR. That really pisses me off as now I can't use it for rehearsals or live gigs. Any suggestions how I may fix it? In case, that you wonder how I created my custom IR (if that eventually may help to figure to issue): The way I created my IR is: Track "A" is the original guitar sound I wanted to capture. Track "B" was the same played with Helix without any cabs/IR's. Captured solo channel from A track and used Voxengo Curve EQ, captured it as reference, then the B track on 2nd layer, applied it over the "A track" and muted both GIT channels, select solo mode on the 3-rd track (test sound generated via Voxengo deconvolver), going right in the Stereo Out channel with the applied EQ and converted the final IR file. Thanks in advance, Alex
  9. I'm experiencing two issues in 2.53 that I'm pretty sure are NOT in my head: Issue experienced while programming presets with H9 being controlled via Helix MIDI for program changes, etc. - At times when switching between snapshots, all Distortion blocks will be turned on, when - previously on that Snapshot, specific Distortion blocks had been assigned/selected - MIDI Program Change messages being sent by Instant Commands on Snapshots are being changed/re-assigned. Most recent time it happened was when I was setting up a new Snapshot to send PC Instant command to select preset on the H9. Where, previously - Snapshots had been setup to send: Snapshot 1: PC 0 Snapshot 2: PC 0 Snapshot 3: PC 1 Snapshot 4: PC 2 After the new Snapshot (6) add been setup to send PC 9; all other Snapshots were now setup to send PC 1

    Lots of bugs...

Don't have a Helix yet, it's coming, but besides excited, I'm a little scared. There are so many apparently real bug reports here. It's seriously great that they're getting reported and talked about, but it kind of makes it seem like it's still early going in firmware-land, not quite soup yet. In people's experience, are bugs getting fixed? When they are, do new ones often get introduced? In other words, is it getting better?
  11. First of all, back up your bundles and setlists via the Helix application on your computer. My Helix arrived Thursday October 8, 2015. I'm using two Mission Line 6 controller pedals. I've had a couple of bugs: 1. The unit would go silent but continue to navigate fine. Switching the unit off/on would correct. 2. The unit wouldn't boot up after the splash screen/firmware version. I had to factory reset to get the unit working. I'm guessing these issues are temporary and will be corrected in a firmware update. Looper: I'm not sure why the looper is only available as a block per preset, instead of a global looper like the M9. It seems odd that I cannot build loops from different presets, which is the best part about looping. I love the sounds! Did I mention I love the sounds? I love the sounds. I'm not much of a guitarist, but the Helix sounds fantastic and sounds liked a microphoned cabinet to me. I'll be using the Helix for Chapman Stick, Bass, Acoustic and Electric Guitars. It's very easy to navigate. Drag and drop presets would be a handy feature of the Helix application for the computer. I'm looking forward to many happy years with my Helix!
