Are you asking about USB cables or "hum busters"?

Per the update instructions, one last Factory reset is required before you restore your backup. It's REALLY hard to troubleshoot problems caused by HW issues on a specific machine. BUT... you may have slipped through the cracks. Bump the ticket or, if you can, call them. -
@theElevators- you type faster than me!

Global EQ is intended to be used to adjust for the acoustics of specific rooms, not as a cure-all for deficiencies in preset design. You get to the gig, your presets sound "off" in that room, you use Global EQ as an across-the-board fix. It's a "last line of defense" sort of thing. Of course, there's no right or wrong in the digital wonderland, so you can use it any way you like, but it applies to EVERY preset and specific configurations cannot be saved. At home I use it to adjust for the Fletcher-Munson effect - at low volumes (<80-90db) I boost the bass and treble sightly, maybe cut the mids a bit. When I know that the neighbors aren't home and I get to crank the volume I turn OFF the Global EQ.

Are you using the latest version of HX Edit (3.60)? Did you do the Factory Reset after the FW update? Did the backup you did prior to the update restore properly? -
FWIW - I had a Tweaker and found that the only way to prevent that was to use two FX Loops - Send on 1 set to INST, Return on 2 set to Line.

You posted while I was typing. Problem solved!

When you switch to a different preset, that preset has to have a similar FS to switch back or to another. IOW - the new preset doesn't know how it got there or where to go next. If what you want to do is use a single FS to go to EITHER preset A or preset B, like, short press = A, long press = B then no, that only works with snapshots.
-
After the FW update, after the presets rebuilt, after you performed a Factory Reset, you then restored everything (including your Global Settings) from the backup you performed prior to the FW update, right? If YES then name your amp brand and model and attach a copy of a preset that displays these symptoms.

Line 6 CustomTone

After you did the update, after Helix rebuilt its presets, did you shut down and do a Factory Reset (boot holding FS 9&10)?
-
If setting Catalyst as the Windows Default Playback Device and playing the test tone gets the test tone through the Catalyst, then the USB cable is fine, and setting the App's Audio Out to the Default Sound Device should work. IDK what the problem is, it works whatever way I set it up in my system but whatever, you've got a solution. Rock on!

Helix LT with Catalyst 100 - Cabs, pre amp or amp ?
rd2rk replied to steve_marsden1's topic in Helix
IMO/IME. If you're using the return of a TUBE amp and a guitar cab/speaker, that's where you MIGHT want to use a Helix preamp, especially if you'll be playing at high/performance volume. That's where the specific characteristics of different power tube types come into their own, at volume. The best sounding pre-amp will be one designed for use with that type of power amp and speaker. EXAMPLE - EL84 and open back cab with 112/212 Alnico Blue/silver = VOX. EL34 and closed back 212/412 cab with GB25 = Marshall. Those are not ABSOLUTES. YMMV. If it sounds good TO YOU, it IS good! Catalyst "preamps" are the equivalent of Helix full amp models, not Helix preamps. The power amp, speaker and cab are designed to sound good with 6 different types of modeled amps , not any particular amp. Modeled cabs/IRs sound best and were created to be used with FRFR systems. When I said above that the Catalyst power amp/cab/speaker was designed to be used with 6 different amp models, that to me means that the combination is flatter and more wide-range than, for instance, a Fender Deluxe. I have tried different Helix amps/cabs/IRs through my Cat and some sounded good, some not so much. Again, YMMV. If it sounds good TO YOU, it IS good! Personally, I have limited patience with "tweaking". I generally just use a Helix full amp model into the Cat's return. Works for me! -
Do this TEST: Windows Sound Panel>Playback - Set Speakers/Catalyst as Default Sound Device - Will have Green Checkmark Right click on Catalyst, click TEST - do you hear the test tone from the Catalyst? If NO, check your USB cable. I tried the configuration two ways: My computer soundcard (connected to studio monitors) as Windows Default Playback Device KF>Edit>Preferences>Audio>Audio Configuration>Audio Output = Catalyst 100 and Catalyst 100 as Windows Default Playback Device KF>Edit>Preferences>Audio>Audio Configuration>Audio Output = Default Sound Device Both configurations worked fine getting the sound to the Catalyst. If it's still not working for you after the TEST I described above I have no clue what's wrong.

The FX Loops have both SEND LEVEL (too much might clip the effect) and RETURN LEVEL (too much might clip the RETURN) parameters. Have you tried messing with those? The default of 0db means UNITY GAIN, IOW, OUT = IN, but there's no law says you can't change that - that's why they're there!
-
I would DL the ASIO Driver just because sooner or later you'll want to use it for an app that requires it and then you'll be back here wondering why it doesn't work. IMO it should be included in the Catalyst Edit installation (and the Powewrcab installation) just as the related driver is installed with every Helix device, but hey, who am I? Oh, right I'm one of the guys who answers people when they want to know why the AI functions of those devices don't work. Yes, check Windows Sound Panel, that's your solution with that app.
-
The exact FX that you have in the FX Loop matters. If one or more of them outputs a LINE Level signal or its Output is just TOO HOT it will either clip the next effect or the Return.

When you assign a FS in Command Center to switch to a different SS, unless the FS in that SS is also configured it defaults to "NEXT". In the new SS you must configure any switches set in the first SS to perform whatever action you need them to perform in THAT SS. Example: In SS1 FS1 is configured to go to SS2. In SS2 FS1 will be set to NEXT, but you want FS1 in SS2 to go to SS3. Set it to do so. Now, what do you want FS1 to do in SS3?

OK, I went to the KF site and signed up, downloaded and installed the program. It doesn't use ASIO. In Windows Sound Panel I set Catalyst as the Default Playback device. I started the app, logged in and selected the first song (Tennessee Whiskey). I double clicked on it and it started playing through my Catalyst. In Windows Sound Panel, under Playback, is Catalyst selected as your DEFAULT Playback Device?
-
Go to the L6 website>Downloads and in the dropdowns select Catalyst|Drivers|Windows version. The latest version is 1.97.0.2. for all Catalyst versions and Windows 10 and 11. Download and install. The app should now see ASIO as an Audio Device option.
-
If the Catalyst is configured in your program as the ASIO Device and your Karaoke program sends an audio signal on USB 1/2, then it should work fine. The audio signal from the web app is using Windows' sound card and if you have the Catalyst configured as the Playback Device in Windows Sound Panel it will work. The Windows Playback Device transmits streaming audio from the web, the ASIO device transmits audio from applications running in Windows, be that a DAW, a plugin Host or, in this case. your Karaoke app. These are two separate functions.
-
That is incorrect. Since I never use them, I wasn't sure, so I just tested it. The High/Low cuts DO affect the XLR Outs.

AFAIK you can only control one amp's channel switching at a time.*** There's many ways to do this, simplest IMO would be (using 4cm) to assign the Output Block Level on the Left (amp 1) and Right (amp 2) Outputs to either a FS or (most likely) Snapshots. Just have the level change from 0db to -120db as required. ??? Just put them in the loop. Send>FX> amp input>amp Send> Return or Send>amp input>amp Send>Return or both. Order would depend entirely on the external FX involved. *** You can get around this restriction using something like the VooDooLabs Control Switcher. This allows you to use MIDI CC/PC messages instead of the Ext Amp jack. Control Switcher MIDI Amp Commander - Voodoo Lab

In addition to the questions posed by @silverhead, please attach an example of a "troubled" preset (not a screenshot).
