  1. I went from a Marshall JVM410h and 1960a cab to HD500x and the L3t and could not be happier!!!!! I get the scream, warmth, tone and I can run my stereo acoustic electric into my HD and the acoustic side into the L3t, plus running a Mic and my IPad for music and backing tracks...
  2. Get the link 6 cable though, really makes everything work
  3. I went HD500x and a L3t and could not be happier!!!!
  4. And you always have to tweek stuff a little too, I doubt your new setup sounds worse than your PA.., It's just what your ears are used too
  5. That's setup is what I bought when I ditched my Marshall Half Stack... Only I went a little bigger.... HD500x and the L3t As soon as you pick your amp for your patch, check the back and make sure it's set to guitar cab, then save it... I actually set up a basic starter patch, with my Volume Pedal and my Wah set up, and then my amp and the pa setting... Then as I scroll through different amps I want, I save those to different spots and rename them, so I don't have to reset my volume, Wah, or PA settings again. However I do have some patches using the Reference PA setting because I use the side mixer at times for my IPad for loops and a Mic
  6. I havent tried the dimension pedal.... Since my VH days I have always liked the setting he used on the Eventide Harmonizer.... Just could never see spending 3000.00 on a unit for one setting... Lol I love that chorus open dual guitar sound, but I have such a touchy ear that any kind of wave swell like a standard chorus or tremolo makes me feel like my guitar is out of tune, the swelling vibration sound that is made when it's out of tune. That's why I like the +\- setting on the Harmonist.... It really sounds like two guitars, opens up the tone.... I'm using it with almost all of my hd500x patches
  7. I am recent to trying out the customtone sounds that we have the ability to share thanks line 6. There are quite a few I have tried that are great... And there are so many options, and tweeks that I have seen overkill on some of the patches I have downloaded.... Since my X3 I have always approached creating a patch as if I physically have the Amps, cabs and effects in front of me, always starting with the amplifier to get the right tone, then adding in the nessesary effects... As a gigging musician off and on, I actually prefer being familiar with modifying and setting up patches right from the HD500 itself so I can create patches and adjust them quickly as needed.... Some of the patches I have downloaded just aren't gigging friendly, or easy to readjust without having a PC in front of you.... I might suggest that maybe some could visualize the rig that is being set up as an actual physical unit instead of a processor. ... I believe that those of you on herehave created some great tones, but then add everything and the kitchen sink to it...... if you approached your creation in a more analog or physical manner, especially those who understand the many variables and capabilities of our units, and not make patches to complicated to be practical in a gig or band practice situation... We could use more of them
  8. HR2 I never could get the right chorus like separation similar to an Eventide Harmonist out of the PS6.... I sold my first HR2 and regretted it and spent about a year searching music shops and pawn shops to find one again... I love that chorus like sound it creates without the swell that occurs in chorus pedals.. I set up my amps so that they sound great to me first, the add the HR2 in and it makes it sound increadable
  9. Lol I thought you meant an old Marshall Amp with.... No I haven't tried the Variax guitars yet.... I don't know why.... I'm just more traditional in that sense
  10. Sounds great.... Actually increadable.... Though with the LT3 I do get a lot more versatile, especially when running stereo guitars and mics... All right into my PC studio and back into the LT3 as a monitor... And DJing out of the LT3.... Do you have that awesome Pink Floyd Patch?
  11. I used to fade into my music, turn off the lights, get it as dark as possible, crank my music and float... It took away negative thoughts and issues.... When I started playing guitar I found out that everything that bothers me disappears.... I used to play so much I would fall asleep with my guitar in my lap... I have a family and kids now, so I cherish each moment I can play, because each time I pick it up, I'm in the zone and everything goes away and I can calm down and deal with issues. Guitar = Zanex
  12. Just click inthe tones name after you upload it, it will take you to a page to explain and modify things
  13. I went thru my hard drive backup and I have a tone of amp tones I created or downloaded for the X3 I love peavey amps so I set up a lot of patches around them
  14. Hey, I went thru a backup drive of mine and I have a ton of X3 tones... Don't know how I could get them to you, I had the metal pack and a classic amp and effects pack installed too
  15. I just recently using these forms because I never Six had one. I have to tell you I still have my X3, but it's in a case because of my hd500x now... There are a tone of tones, or were on the custom tone site for the X3... I bought the additional amp packs and got some great tones out of it, from a VH peavey tone to a Valve King, I love peavey Amps... You just got to take your time, use your PC program with it, it helps a lot... Start with an amp that by discription in the HUGE X3 manual that best fits the overall makeup or design of the amp ( example, 6l6 or el34 power tubes) Then set all of the bass mid treble and presence knobs to 12 o'clock and find the right cab that gets close... Then start adjusting the eq... It's all in your ear ultimately bro... I got used to doing all of my settings right from the X3, like I do I my 500... So I can create a tone on the fly... There is no perfect majic to downloading a preset that's gonna give you the tone you want... However learning to tweek and set it up yourself will work wonders... There are so many variables than can cause some downloaded tone to not give you what you want, like the cab or amp you are using with it, the speakers ect... It's really best to try yourself bro
  16. I agree, there is no possible way for me to afford so many of the amps I want and to gig with them... Until I fell in love with Line 6, and now my HD500X and the Cabinet from the Gods, the LT3 With the pedal board built like a tank, and to get the warmth and harmonics and tube scream out of a no tube maintainence issues is amazing.... My favorite amps so far are the JCM 800 and 2044 based, but the Soldono amps are increadable to play with... And EVERY guitarist I have played with has either been blown away or cussing under their breath because they can't believe that a digital rig beats their close minded Marshall or Fender only minds... However, while I do try to get certain sounds, I always make them my own, not to sound like someone else and this gives me the ability to do that and so much more.... Yet I found myself messing around with some if the other amps I normally wouldn't touch, and I found the Champ and the Vox models to sound increadable and give me that tried and true Zeppelin and Joe Walsh tones.... Right away.... There is so much to learn and do with this that I will never be stop being amazed
  17. To begin I have to say, especially now with my new complete Line 6 rig, every time, and I do mean EVERY, I get G.A.S. over a new amp, or new gear.... Which usually happens when I haven't played for a couple of days and I get some manufacturers email, or Musician Friend, Guitar Center,ect.... I can now ALWAYS return to my HD500X and get that tone or better.... I could go way back, but my first Experiance with Tube amos ant trying to achieve that tone that each of us hears in our heads, and in our hearts started with loving the tone on the Van Halen Carnal Knowlege CD.... It hit you in your chest, went thru you, and screamed for days.... Yet also I play a Variety of music from Zepplin, To 80's metal, to Souther Rock, Blues, And Progressive Metal. So gear history pros and cons and my journey: 5150 Combo, BOSS Harmonist Set to Detune-/Detune+ (Best Pedal for opening up your sound that is still a main stay; even with my HD500 X) Rockman Smart Gate, and Rockman EQ BOSS Digital Delay Rackmount Furman Power Supply. And if course a Crybaby Wah PROS: Out thumped, out screamed and overpowered the other guitarist Half Stack Marshall JCM 800 ( He actually got mad that even though he had, in his opinion, the ONLY good gear out there, that my rig nocked stuff off the wall and he couldn't come close....lol) CONS: Heavy, no rack case, wires and cables everywhere, took forever to set up and tear down with the cable mess... And 2 Channels with one EQ (Stupid Design, lead to adding BOSS Graphic EQ Pedal) Tone not quite there believe it or not... Next went my first experience trying to consolidate and expand my versatility Digitech 2120 and foot controller Marshall 50/50 el34 power amp Furman Power Supply All in a hand carried Rack that sat on top of a Crate Blue Voodoo Halfstack. Pros: Multiple sounds and Effects... Easy hookup.... Cons: HEAVY to move and carry Delay in switching presets (even a small delay can effect timing, it drove me nuts...) Mic Recording Next: Finally a tube amp with tone and multiple versatility: Peavey JSX, TC Electronics GSystem And multiple pedals controlled by the System too Two Unique Hartke Built 4/10 Celestion guitar cabinets Pros: Multiple patches and effects all controlling a great tube amp Cons: Custom built pedal board that had to have wheels it was so dang HEAVY and every now and then having to deal with checking for loose cables... Caring a pedal board, a rack, a head and two cabinets Mic Recording Then I bought a Line 6 Ux1 for my PC fir recording and was blown away... Not long after I got rid of my tube gear for: LINE 6 VETTA combo Pros: Almost everything Cons: Tone still not quite there, and in made a HORRIBLE WOOFING bass sound when pushed to the gain levels I wanted.... So: Line 6 Live X3 Power Amp The 2 Hartke Cabs Pros: Great Tones, could just carry the X3 to practice and hook it up through our PA, PC recording with no Mic issues... Cons: PLASTIC!!!! Didn't trust its stability and endurance gigging... Kept it though, still have it... Next: Marshall JVM 410H And my wife bought me a Marshall 1960 A cabinet ( bye bye Hartkes) Pros: Very versatile in tones, scream, thump, clean... Cons: Back to pedals and as the gain when per channel, hearing my effects when bye bye.... Heavy Again and took awhile to hook up my pedal board and geek tones per gig... Finally, and after the long story... I heard about the Line 6 HD500X MADE OUT OF METAL!!!! I tried it.... After a year with the Marshall, I sold it all ( it did look great on stage and did sound good if it wasn't for my addiction to Delays and my Harmonist) Pros: everything and give me that great warm tube tone every time, I don't know how you do it, but even my gear head friend can't tell the difference... Cons: Nothing I bought the HD500X and reall made the jump and bought the increadable LT3 speaker cab/pa, 1400 watts af pure power. If you don't use one with your HD500x you don't know what you're missing... I run one of my guitars that is stereo Electric/Acoustic with the Electric side into my HD500x and the acoustic side into the LT3.... OMG there is nothing I can not do with this!!! Of course I, though pissed off about it after dropping 1600 on a whole line 6 rig, bought the software upgrade... I run Everthing thru this, My iPad thru the ins on the LT3, the HD500x with the Line 6 smart cable, mics too!!! In my studio I run the HD500x into my PC, then thru my DAW to record, then back thru my headphone outs (let's everything come thru and after trial and error works the best) back to my LT3 as a studio monitor.... Long winded I know, but my point is, after a long journey, years of trying, There is nothing I cannot do with this rig, and EVERY time I want something new, I get it out of my Line 6 gear... I have gone head to head with other guitarist rigs and they are blown away and impressed... I can get any tone I hear in my head, And I always finding out something new to do with this gear.... Thank you Line 6 for your years of research to create the perfect rig for such a picky, TUBE enthusiast guitarist as myself!!!! The only thing I think I would love more than playing your gear would be having the privelege of teaching others about your gear... No, I'm not begging for a Job, I'm fine, I am a sales and customer service proffesional and I sell and support only stuff I believe in.... And I have always wanted to work at something I enjoy, and believe in, so if you every need anything, I am so greatful for your diligent hard work for us guitarist, I would love to return the favor... I already promote your gear anyway, lol Thank you so much again Paul Logan
