  1. Yeah the green back cab... Smoother breakup at a lower gain.... The best sounding amp I've ever had was a 5150 combo, the speakers were based on ones like the Celestion greenbacks with some of the magnetic pull out of them... Cons, no real clean Channel and noises as heck... For cleans I found that the Roland, or Jazz Rivet sounds cool out of the gate... I do come back to the JCM800 ALOT too... But the Soldono Gain set on a lower setting breaks up great at full volume and dial the guitar back a bit and it cleans up and sounds great.... My Soldono bank I only have a gain and an overdrive stage... I just cleared and entire set list, each channel only having a Volume pedal... Then I put each amp on all the banks so I could try each one out with no preset effects thanks to you guys telling me what you use... I think we tend to stick with what we know... I know Marshalls, I love Soldono amps for the 6l6 warmth, I know the Greenback Cab.... Now it's time to experiment and mark which ones are worth working with.... I have always been chasing that tone in my head.... I played a Fender Rod Deville at guitar center and loved the gain channel, was surprised, I usually avoid fender amps... It's hard to explain the tone in my head.... I love the sound of EVH on the Carnal Knowledge CD.... I love the neck solo/sustain of Carlos Santana And the pinch harmonic squeal of Dokken/ George Lynch.... I want it to hit you in the chest with the bass without loosing the Mids and get some smooth highs... All the same volume.... I used to use a BBE sonic maximizer in my racks and that helped a lot .... Any suggestions from any of the other gear heads on here? Which leads me a lot to Marsall and Soldono amps.... I want my tone

    500X

I started off digital years ago because I wanted a 4 channel amp with different effects per channel and no fade out of effects at higher gain stages.... The X3 Live was the first thing that sounded great and met my needs.... Without hauling my amp, pedals and rack system around... I gigged with the X3, a power amp and a Celestion 4x12 cab and blew people away.... Still I was unsure of it due to its plastic construction.... Bought the hd500x this year and it's just as easy to get a patch as the X3 live.... And It's Made Of Metal!!!! The sounds are awesome with so much more tweekage I ain't going to go anywhere anytime soon...
  3. Thanks so much, I'll try it.... My main full Yamaha PA system is down at my dads in southern IL, ten hours away, so I really have no PA other than the l3t right now and I bought it for my HD500x but it does so much more that I want to utilize it as well as a guitar cab... That being said. When you have the 6 Link hooked up to your POD, do you use the PA setting on the back or the guitar cab setting? Sometimes I have found that the PA setting gives my HD500x guitar settings a little clearer, with more definition and thump, and since I'm using it as a PA too? What do you think or use on the channels on the back of the l3t?
  4. Do you or anyone else with a L3t use the PA settings for your hd500 x sounds, or the guitar setting on the L3t? I have found that the sound seems to be clearer and more defined with the PA light on, and since I plug a mic into the L3t too,,it sounds better and mixes better.... Opinions?
  5. Help guys, When my HD500x is USB hooked up to my PC, the Line 6 smart cable doesn't send the full PC signal to my L3t.... I find myself using a 1/4 inch jack out from the headphone Jack on the HD 500 to the RCA inputs on the L3t, because, of course when USB hooked up it makes the HD500 the sound card.... That really doesn't give me the full tone that I'll get, is there a way to fix this and get all of the sound from my PC straight to the L3t? The way I have it hooked up does allow my backing tracks, recordings and music to run direct through it though, it's just seems that the amp tone is not as good as it is when I'm running live and not hooked up to the PC.... Suggestions?
  6. because I sometimes hook my acoustics direct into those because of the modeling, also my board has no effects, so for the main mic I usually hook that up direct for reverb I guess it's kinda dumb, but it works....
  7. Thanks guys keep them comming given me a lot of ideas I haven tried, I tend to stick to the classic Marshall vintage Celestion 25 cab with most of my amps, and stick to Soldono and JCM 800 amps, though I tried the Vox AC15 and 30 and heard right away that classic Zeppelin heartbreaker tone

  9. Ouch, good to know, maybe I'll remove the springs on the trem, I have a small metal plate I block my Floyds with, come to think of it, I wanted to put a tremolo no on it so I may get one of those before I take all the strings off Thanks for the reminders guys.... I do love 9.5 hybrids though, not as much adjustment as you would think between 10s and them... Been using them for years, better sustain then 9s too
  10. Oh, sorry, skimmed the posts, that sounds like a grounding issue, my GHOST system did that on my fender till I rerouted the ground and resouldered it to the claw on for the term springs... I think it was just a cold solder joint
  11. I prefer starting with the amp and getting a good articulate tone and bite. Question: without effects, distortion pedals, ect What is your favorite amp/ cabinet/ mic combinations? Some standard initional settings can be muddy no matter what you do...
  12. I just wish it defaulted to a wah/volume pedal like my x3 live.... That's my only major complaint, loosing an effects block for a volume pedal
  13. I know this may sound funny and simple, but I ran my 16 channel mixer into the left/ right rca jacks of my l3t and did the panning from there, then monitor out from my mixer to a power amp left right channels to my monitors.... Can't afford the line 6 mixer... But it works great... I have also ran the mixer into the mic/instrument inputs on the L3t... But it colors the tone to much
  14. I've used and installed the tremsetter on all of my fenders in the past... You can easily adjust the tension on it... I used the tremolo no for the first time last year and it's on my Floyd guitars, it works ok, I have to tighten the set screws really tight at times... I did some dives with my V69 for the first time the other day, it seemed to come back pretty well, but I like my trems tight because I palm mute a lot... The tremsetter I prefer BECAUSE you can adjust the tension... Read the install instructions to adjust it. It can come back to a dead stop, and allows for up pulls too... Just adjust the tension wheels

  16. Even tried them with a 4x10 cab, I actually used to use custom 4x10 Celestion cabs for my Peavey JSX and my Marshall JVM410... Clearer sound, tighter bass control...
  17. The Soldono is really my go to amp... Then the JCM 800, 2204, and of course the fender Bassman
  18. I take the Soldono, switch to a cab with the Celestion 25s in it for better warm breakup at lower gain, use a sm57 mike off access for more of that warm smooth gain... That away I have more headroom to boost the preamp/distortion if I need too... Then I use the gain Soldono for a clean with a little bit of dirt all controlled by the volume knob or the guitar you use on your Variax ( fenders are cleaner, les Paul's more gain) And of course the overdrive channel for higher gain, then a full I lead channel
  19. Lol, I used my x3 live in the studio for years till I dropped a dime on a 500x and L3T, mainly because it's a metal board and I'm more comfortable gigging with a stronger built board... Other than that, without new products and new technology a company like line 6 goes by the way side... I thank line 6 for continuing to move forward But I will keep my HD500x and Variax for quite a while, no helix or amplifi in my future.... Plus modeling after someone else's sound is not it for me.... I get close to a sound I like from another artist, then retweek it myself to a sound and effects that I like. Which line six has always given me... For example I prefer amplifier gain as opposed to pedals which change an amps tone So I used line 6s example for a classic Ain't Talkin Bout Love VH tone which had a Plexi Lead and a Tube Screamer in front of it, Then got rid of the pedal and switched the amp to a Soldono to start with and got better articulation and harmonics
  20. Thanks guys, I'm a light player, and doing bend on tens is noticeably different that's why I was asking.... When the strings and the pick guard come in I'm going to be adjusting everything, and treating the fretboard.... I can't wait, the action is a little high too
  21. Most people are talking about the 10 gauge that are on here.... I prefer the sound and feel of 10s but with a little lighter gauge... Would Hybrid 9.5s work ok on the guitar?
  22. Beautiful that's what I'm gonna do, and replace the pickup covers to black to match the humbucker
  23. So replacing the pic guard only should be pretty easy then for someone that's done it on standard strats before?
  24. Wow, nice fender, I'm still going nuts when I cannot sit down and create patches with it, haven't touched my 12 string, My Esp Elite or my Silverburst LP... Might have to case them Just ordered a pearloid pick guard... Does the dial for the models come of easy?
  25. Cool thanks for the patch link!!!! I had a nightmare that my ESP and my LP were trying to kill me....
