Dagnabbit I tried a variax guitar today
shredjsx replied to shredjsx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I bought the JTV and after reading the manual and having to re-read my hd500x manual I love the sounds ( with of course my own tweeks and rearranging the stock banks..) And the fact that it remembers my guitars per hd patches is awesome.... To bad we cans share Variax tones -

Darrell All GREAT guitars... I have owned many LTDs over the years and love them... The Charvel is a great buy, I've been looking for a San Dimas with a hum in the lead and a Single in the neck for years.... All three are an awesome buy -
Having a blast with it!!! Like everything there is a learning curve and I've been tweeking factory tones and I love it! My fav part is being able to switch HD500x patches and it remembers and switches Variax patches with it.. I also tweeked the 12 string blends down a little and the sound better... I created a Les Paul with a parallel -6 cents string tone to go along with it and get a great natural chorus.... And it screams harmonics on the patches and the straight pickups too, I play a lot of Hendrix and blues and the define option sounds great... Can't say enough about it!!!! I only wish there was a way to share guitar patches

Line6 Discontinuing JTVs?
shredjsx replied to johoffry's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
There were only 2 JTVs at Guitar Center and my sales guy dropped it all the way to 599.00 for me and said they weren't getting anymore in... As far as I can tell I got the last Sunburst 69 -
Just like any guitar, would probably need a new setup... I use hybrid 9.5 strings I'm gonna put on my new one tonight.... If you are already set up for 9's, little or no adjustment is nessesary. I love the hybrids because they give you the tone of 10's, with out the added string tension

Variax JTV 69 Oportunity
shredjsx replied to shredjsx's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I have played it btw -
I run a HD500x and a L3t I record with it and it is my main amp... I have Four Electrics I play my ESP and my new Epiphone Silverburst Custom Les Paul mainly... However I have a cool Epiphone ES339 Ultra with Acoustic pickups and a USB port and a G&L Asat Bluesboy Semi hollow which is cool but collecting dust... The local guitar center has a Sunburst JTV69 with the humbucker and a Cherry burst 89.... After dealing with them and for a while they for some reason lowered the price on them and they are willing to go STRAIGHT ACROSS for the ES339 and the G&L for either one of the Variax... What do you think?

Ok guys... Guitar center decided to trade straight across with me for a Variax JTV 69 in sunburst or with the humbucker for my Epiphone ES 339 Ultra and my G&L Asat Semi Hollow Bluesboy.... I have played it and all of my gear is line 6 now.... Opinions, is it a good trade.... -

Well, I'm convinced.... I'm gonna go with a JTV69 and mod it... However, if anyone is interested, I'm changing some serious things around and am selling my current entire electric guitar collection. ( My wife just got diagnosed with cancer) 1 A first model special order ESP LTD Elite ST-1 Aqua ( Rare, before they changed the label to ESPII) 2 A Epiphone ES 339 Ultra with the Acoustic and USB hookups, only made them last year and discontinued them. 3 A G&L Asat Semi Hollow Bluesboy Tribute 4 A Epiphone Custom Special Edition Silverburst Les Paul ( Brand new I just bought it) And my X3 Live to go with the package. 3k for the whole lot -

My only complaint was the neck.... And while I have replaced pickups, replacing a neck from Warmouth scares me a little.... other than that I do like the JTV69. But then I really want it more for a studio guitar than a live one.... And it's the sitar sound that impresses me the most.... Despite reviews I read, I plugged it into a Mesa boogie and the stock pickups did pinch harmonic scream and holds sustain, even on the other tunings. ARGGH I do like the look of the older 700 blacks.... Do the jtvs sound better, is having the option of real pickups better? -
Line 6 HD 500x Experiance and Awe and the long road to get here
shredjsx replied to shredjsx's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Sounds cool, I'll get it today -
I used one with my Peavey JSX for years... Totally an effects unit.... Controls your amp, create multiple channels with you own amp, built in great effects, use a four cable system to run some effects in the loop, some in front.... Rack your effects pedals if you want and control them on or off with it.... Has its own increadable effects.... Power supplies pedals..... But HEAVY, made out of metal so hold up very well...

Ok, let's say it NGOs with a used older Variax, ( I actually like the no pickup look ) do they sound good compared to the newer versions like the jtv 69 with pickups? And they are increadable quiet -

I wish I could Avoid guitar center too, they ran every mom and pop store that I liked out of Pheonix, now up here in GR they are the only ones that carry what I want to try.... I have a good sales rep I work with, but overall they suck and don't know the basic details about some of the equipment that they sell. -
I set up one preset to use it with my guitar and vocals dry to go into my PC for recording... That's it, don't want to use too much of the limited effects spots for just a mic

I found it for 699 at guitar center... A lot of online places have them going for almost a grand... He says they can't move them and they might quit carrying them or only at the "premium" stores -

Ok, so question, lets say I set up a patch that I love, designed around the Variax with the "smart" cable.... If I needed to, could I use my Esp on that same patch later with the guitar jack.... I don't agree with his statement about preferring "regular guitars" because aren't all of our guitars electrically advanced? Through pickups and electronics? The sunburst 69 is what I tried... The guitar was beautiful, the neck I hated but could live with... How easy is it to replace with one from Warmouth, and no intonation issues? Sorry for all of the questions guys... Now that I have kids a purchase like this is a big deal -
