One thing I love over my old X3 is having multiple banks bank sets... It sounds like you are an amp lover like me... So I'm gonna make a suggestion... Do what I finally did... Take one full bank set and just set each one up with all of the amps, no effects... Then play with the amp, cabs and mic settings... Get basic good tones then add in effects... I did set up a basic effects line to work with including a volume pedal, a noise gate in front of the amp, a graphic eq set to flat to boost signal on lower volume amps, and a noise gate after... And just play with the amps.... Then transfer tones/amps to your other set list banks to add and tweek effects... It really opens up so much, gives you an idea on what wonderful things this unit can do without coloring your tone with effect first.... Gets you to understand your amps better... Get the upgrade package amps too... Have fun bro!!!! I would also suggest getting a Line 6 L3t or L2t.... And the smart cable to attach the unit.... The options I have now, and versatility is increadable.... Welcome to the family....

I bought black single coil covers, but they fit the middle pickup, the neck pickup was a couple of millimeters off -

Full Compass.... They have an increadable amount of electronics and music equipment -
Did the same thing, tons of picks..,, Then I started sharpening to a point my regular medium gauge picks due to my year of usage playing small medium Jazz picks because I had to have the tip of my first finger on my right hand clipped off by a pair of gas powered hedge trimmers.... 9 stitches.... Then Dunlop came out with Yellow, medium gauge regular style sharp tip picks... It's all I use... Better control, more articulate picking and easier to get that "wah" sound/harmonics when playing rhythm.. And much easier to make her scream

Alternate Tuning Not Working

I have a JTV69 as well and mine works fine, contact line 6 they can help -
Just like any amp user I think it's more of an ear/personality preference.... I had a X3Live for a long time and switching to th HD500x was at first not that much of a learning curve... However I stuck at first to models I used on my X3 live for a bit on the HD500x.... Then I finally tore into it, amp models, cabs and mics only at first and got some great tones... And I do mean tore!! I went into the system settings, all of the amp and cab tweeks on the PC.... And I've got increadable patches now.... The Helix is great, but I think if you tear into the HD500x you will get just as increadable tones too....

I'm sorry to say this with as much as I love my rig now, but if I had decided to keep my JVM ( I also have a messed up back and knee so weight was a primary issue, as well as I live in an apartment and I love to be hit in the chest by my rig...) I would have gotten a TC Electronic GSystem again like I had with my Peavey JSX.... This will do EXACTLY what you want and control so much with your amp without sucking tone.... Check it out.... And get an HD500x for studio work...:)

Variax JTV 69 Oportunity

No I haven't tried that, I did that on a 12string model though and it worked great.... Thanks for the idea -
Rock, blues, southern, shred and metal.... So the JVM was great.... But my delay and Harmonist were rather too strong on the clean channel ( yellow) Or too light on my main channel 0D 3 ( yellow) Now I have Marshalls, Engl, Soldono, 5150, Bogners, you name it to play with, and multiple effects.... They are sensitive to volume on the guitar too... Line 6 sounds so much like Tubes without the hassle and weight.... So many PC studio applications as well as live uses... And the L3t loud speaker has TOO much headroom.... I won't go back... Love Marshall.... But I can run JCM 800 with tons of cabinet options on here, or a 2204.... Or how about a Fender Bassman with a Tube overdrive or Screamer in front of it.... You'll never get the options you get from a HD500x and a 1400 watt power speaker with mic and acoustic guitar inputs and RCA inputs, it's own reverb, chorus and EQ and feedback controller for both inputs that @knows@ if it's on its side as a 2x12 guitar cab, tilted back like a monitor or up straight as a PA.... And to gigs with a PA, I just bring my board and the sound guys love it and I get consistent sound every time

I use about 6 different amps and 10 different banks, gets irritating

Lmbo..... I have yet to crank my l3t past 1/4.... I miss having a house and playing live -
I went from my MarshallJVM410 to the hd500x and the L3t and am VERY happy... I loved my Marshall, but the fact that my effects started disappearing and fading in the higher gain stages drive me nuts... The best setup I had to work with a tube amp, control the amp and effects was a TC Electronics G System.... Built like a tank.... Metal and HEAVY, using the 4 cable method you can run effects in the front and thru the Effects loop... It will power your effects as well, and you can pull the patch bay in the back out and rack EVERYTHING and control your effects from the board and have multiple patches... Expensive.... However I did the switch and would not look back, I have so many options now

And just using the Tube Preamp with no cab, or get a L3t lol

I've had pretty good Acoustic sound with the JC120 Roland amp, and the Line6 acoustic preamp sound

I agree, getting used to it is the option, SRV played 13s and killed his frets, how he stayed in tune is beyond me, but he also played Eb and had to get his main guitar neck replaced an fretted with bass frets after a while... And he used to bleed playing too... His Caluses must have been monsters !!!! -
Thanks guys!!!

HD500X Amp Model Tones/EQ(first plug in with the Band.)
shredjsx replied to Old-Rocker's topic in POD HD
Yeah, get a Speaker system like the L2T or 3T to carry with you... If money is an issue and no PA get a powered floor monitor like Roland makes for Electric Drums... Even out the EQ and Volume on the Orange in the mean time.... Use the HD 500 volume and have it set to Diect Studio out... Then instead of screwing up your patches, use th Global EQ in System settings to boost and cut your eq found to the front end of the amp.... Ideally, running through a PA is what you want... So when you do gig out with a venue that has a PA plug into it... When you switch bands and other output amps, that Global EQ is gonna be your best friend... The problem is really not your Line 6.... -

If you are on the fence I love DAddario hybrids 9.5s... Minimal if any adjustments needed, heavier tone than 9s.... And being that I'm a player that plays light and uses my playing and playing muting to articulate my volume these strings work great for bends, harmonics and thump... I play a longer scale, 24 fret guitar as my main guitar and I switched from 9s to 9.5s years ago as 10s will kill you on these types of guitars... I also play a silver burst epiphone custom that I have played 10s on due to its short scale, but putting 9.5s on this makes for a even transition without the subtle tension changes that happen when I switch guitars.... As soon as my dang Perloid Pickguard gets in for my JTV69 I'll be putting 9.5s on it when I do a full setup on it I also bought a Esp designed trem stabilizer to install on it to keep it coming to a zero point when I use the trem... I've been waiting for the pick guard for three months now, it was ordered throu a third party from Line 6.... Irritated as hell... I want my pick guard!!!! Venting... Sorry... 9.5s are a great option
