  1. Same, when I run my hd 500 through my PC, I run the headphone out with a 1/4 inch adapter to3.5mm in the headphone jack, to a 3.5mm y adapter that had RCA connections on the other side ( really long) to my RCA inputs on my L3T, works great, especially if you're recording or jamming with music from your PC
  2. Ok, I'm also part of the suggestion board for line six issues... I posted that there needs to be a even volume for all Amp presets.... And there have been several comments about this... Creating patches for live playing and keeping an even volume to start with on all amps makes playing live a pain in the rear if you're switching banks... Especially if you have to use a graphic eq or a compressor to boost your volume on lower sounding amps And fixes for live players, as this is supposed to be used for
  3. I had the same problem, I was on the fence when I bought the HD500x... It was between it or a H&K Gandmeister, the looper was the deciding factor, and yet I have not been able to use it....
  4. Been playing it for about a month now with no problem, having a lot of fun setting up banks and new tones to work with the customized Variax guitar models I've created... I live the fact that it automatically switched to my chosen guitar model for each patch I've created.... However, after creating some new awesome amp tones with it, I switched back to my ESP LTD ST1 Elite and those patches are screaming beautiful.... Making me want to swap out the pickups on the Variax to the Seymour Duncan's I have on my LTD
  5. I was unsatisfied with the acoustic models too..... But then I started doing some serious tweeks with the string octaves, cents, and volumes of strings and I am starting to have great success, especially using the Line 6 Acoustic Patch on the HD500x.... I tweeked my Twelve string to sound as if it's a very balanced 6 string with a low, chorus echo in the back Patience is the way of the light side, Frustration, software manipulation and bypassing can only lead to the Dark side of the force and a screwed up Variax....
  6. Gonna get a Mac..... Laptop, main PC is a Win 10 desktop set up for my studio, but I do a lot with Apple Music and garage band on my IPad too. How well does our 500x HD software and Variax software work on a Mac ?
  7. Ok, new update experimenting with my L3t.... Wanted effects for all my mics... I ran a Berhinger 8 channel mixer for my mics, them monitor out to my left and right inputs of the L3t.... Set one L3t for a lot of reverb and effects, the other side for a small amount, set the inputs to -20db for safety.... Ran my guitar as usual thru the Link... And my IPad thru the RCA Jacks.... Ran the L3t line out to a seperate power and with two monitors hooked up AWESOME!!!!! Effects, P A, panning, everything in one awesomely overpowered package
  8. So what about installing a zero fret nut? Still waiting on my dand special ordered Perloid pickguard I orders two months ago... Once I get that in, installing black pickup covers on the single coils, treating and oiling the fretboard, Putting on my 9.5 hybrid strings and setting up the neck... Installing and ESP zero point trem setter, called the Arming Adjuster( had to get it from Japan) What do you think of this nut?http://www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Nuts_and_Saddles/ZerO_Glide_Nuts.html Can't wait.... So that's why I'm asking about these mods
  9. w Yeah, most of the gigs we played In Arizona before I left mic'd right up against the grill, come even have a dinamic mic on a clip that fits over the cab.... Mainly to avoid as much bleed from the other instruments So, studio distance is cool, my X3 live did that.... But I really don't miss it nor did I notice it until it was brought up here...
  10. Awesome man..... It was a VETTA II that combo that I had, I wonder if ther is a difference in the speakers.... Mine "woofed" something horrible
  11. Lol, 1(wife) + 1 (me) = 3 1/2 year old twins, 6 yr old daughter and 5 step kids ( in essence no American made Gidson les Paul)
  12. Somehow the volume pedal is turned off... Check in your system IO and see if it's a setting in there
  13. As far as a 5150 goes, I have been chasing that tone with line 6 for a while.... Today I believe I got it, with all things, the line 6 Smash tone!!!! My Harmonist in the effects loop though make a BIG difference to any of my patches... But, by sheer luck of messing around with resonance, bias, mics and cabs I got an incredible tone out of it today... It sounds like the Carnal Knowlege tone... The Album that got me back into Van Halen, or Van Hagar
  14. The speakers in the Vetta were known to be horrible and "woof" when used to push the bass... When I had one almost all of the people I talked to changed the speakers in the Vetta cabinet to Celestion, and it sounded great
  15. Oh and my ESP Elite ST1 with the Seymour Duncan Pickups in it
  16. Just take one amp, and two pedals plus one guitar to a gig what would it be (no digital... Line 6/ Variax ect....) Hard choice.... Mine would be a Marshall JVM 2x12 4 channel, a Crybaby Wah and a delay.... Or a Fender Bassman, a Crybaby Wah and a Tube Driver
  17. I bought the 500 x because its operating system was like my X3 and it was rugged instead of plastic... I was also not interested in sounding exactly like certain bands it is designed to model... I get close and tweek my own style... I want to make sure that I didn't make a mistake not getting the newest design, and that the hd500x is gonna be supported for a long time...
  18. It's a unique design.... Believe it or not I would suggest a coffin case to fit it tight...
  19. OMG thank you for that info, it explains more why I'm starting to like and use the line 6 designed amps, and gives me more knowledge to tweek.... Thank you
  20. Ps.... I love line 6, but I also love tubes... I had a Marshall JVM410 and. Marshall 1960 cab and a pedal board.... One major issue, I use a delay set at 320 to 330 with three feedback sat a low level instead of reverb.. With my Marshall, as I went up in gain stages the delay disappeared... Set at parallel or in series effects loop, drove me nuts... It looked AWESOME.... But with bad knees and a bD back hauling it was a nightmare... I wanted something with four channels, and built in effects per channel...so I could set up effect per channel... Then a company came up with an increadable setup.... (I'm Sorry Guys...) the Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister... I must have gone back and forth to guitar center for months trying both out... The deciding factor was the built in looper on the hd500x.... Which I have yet to figure out how to use..... Lol And after getting it I'm glad I made the choice I did
  21. Be aware that with any modeling system, look at the potential to creat great sounds... Check it out on YouTube as well, after all the work I recently did, trying out every amp on this unit dry, I now challenge anyone that says they can't get the tone they want out of the hd500x... There is a learning curve, it wasn't so hard for me because I've used line 6 for a while... I love the LT3 because it sounds so increadable with no tube issues.... However, there are those that believe that tubes are the way to go... So for line 6 to offer both styles as a dream rig is very smart... I didn't try the DT amp but I trust it sounds great... But the lt3 gives me SO much headroom, a mixer with two inputs, a RCA input for a audio input like my iPad or phone... I swear it has a built in crossover... Different built in modes from monitor to 2x12 and PA sounds depending on how it's set up, acoustic modeling, built in reverb and feedback elimitor... It's great to have all of those options to be able to do anything.... Check out both...
  22. Honestly before you go through all of that look at the Seymour Duncan pickup rings that have the switches built in, it will make your mod a lot easier
  23. View them as full amps, just because they say "pre" only means a few tweeks won't be there, but you're ok
  24. You'll have no tech issues at all with the hd500x, you will want to get the additional tones from the firmware upgrade to get more higher gain and classic amps too
