  1. Curious if anyone out there in Helix land has had success getting the Helix to channel switch a Splawn amp. I have a Splawn SuperSport and can change the channels with the Splawn footswitch no problem. When I plug a TRS cable into the Helix and then into the "B" jack (which changes amp channels via the Tip if a TRS cable), I get a loud hum and no channel switching. On top of that, I find the Helix manual to be a bit dodgy about how to set up a footswitch to change amp channels externally. Any help would be appreciated!
  2. Pilot error on my part, I never thought of looking in the stereo section. And there they are. Would make more sense as a cab, but atlas i found them. Thanks Gear Head!
  3. You know, I never thought of that. Doh! Thanks, I'll go try it now.
  4. Kind of baffled why I don't see the Rotary effects available under Modulation in most presets. Even tried starting some from scratch. I'm guessing it is a DSP issue, but is there a place to start where I can actually see the 3 Rotary options? Help!
  5. I can't let this one go by me.... I am a Live Sound Engineer (I prefer that label over "sound guy"), have been mixing bands for over 30-years. I'm also a guitar player, collector, and Helix owner. I work pretty much every weekend, with a handful of bands (weddings, clubs, private parties) and also pickup gigs as they come along. For a "sound guy" to be so inflexible and passive/aggressive towards a client is beyond me. Not my style. It's not like there haven't been guitar modelers out there for many years. Before the Helix, I ran into quite a few bands using the Fractal product, and as an engineer, am ecstatic when I can take an XLR feed and not have stage volume of a guitar amp to deal with. If the band is using IEM's, even better. I give them access to my router and they can mix their own monitor mix on a smartphone. If they aren't using IEM's, I'll feed them some guitar through a floor wedge. For guys that are used to moving air with a 4x12 cab, it is a bit of an adjustment. But I am constantly battling guitar (and bass) players about stage volume. If you are still too loud out front when I have you removed from the mix, why are you paying me? The other thing that is baffling is the comment about damaging equipment by going direct. What? How? One of the guitar players in a band I work with uses a Helix, no amp or cabinet, and it sounds great out front. I feed him a bit of his guitar through his wedge.
  6. After the 2.0 update my Helix rebuilds presets on every start up. Is that normal?
  7. That did it, the footswitch is now turning one delay off and the other one on. Thanks again, not sure why that wasn't intuitive to me at the time.
  8. Thanks, Glideman, I will give that a try and report back!
  9. Maybe this is totally obvious, but my brain is not wrapped around how to accomplish this. I have a patch set up that has a short single delay on for the rhythm section of the song. What I want to do is use a footswitch to create a solo tone, increasing the channel gain and master setting of the amp model, and adding a different delay. I have the switch set to do the gain, master, and solo delay on, but can't figure out how to turn the rhythm delay off. So basically hitting the footswitch on is turning the delay off. Maybe there is another way to do this? Thanks for any advice.

    Helix Vs. AX8

The scribble strips, the Expression pedal, all pluses. And the fact that I've had the Helix for almost a month and am pretty adept at editing now. Time to get back to playing and not splitting hairs about which box is better. Like someone said a long time ago "Less ebay, more Mel Bay"!

    Helix Vs. AX8

Just got my AX8 invite to buy (went on the waiting list on 11/4/15). Got me a Helix, sorry Fractal. I'll pass.
  13. Stock preset with these settings: Drive 4.4 Bass 5.0 Mid 4.0 Treble 5.7 Presence 1.4 Obviously your monitoring will affect how it sounds to you, but I did the A/B with my Tech21 Power Engine, which for a cheap box, sounds really good.
  14. Great idea, I'd keep it right next to my can of "New Car Smell"
  15. That is my desert island amp for sure, and the one that started my vintage amp collection. A buddy of mine has one of the reissues, and I did a side by side with that. It was very close. Mine smells better when the tubes heat up though.
  16. Getting deeper into modifying the stock presets for my own set up (XLR out from Helix into a Tech 21 Power Engine 60 with a Celestion G12H) and decided to do an A/B between my 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb (with a Weber F12-150) and the stock US Deluxe Nrm preset. With very little tweaking, this patch is 99% of the real deal. The only place I notice a hair of difference is the lower strings, but it is really, really close. Even the tremolo and reverb are spot on. Nice job, Line 6. Next up, my Bogner Shiva!

    Tuner Offsets

Maybe this isn't news, but I discovered you can set up tuner offsets (only one set as far as I can tell) for things like the Buzz Feiten Tuning System (I have a number of Suhr and Tom Anderson guitars that use this). Just have to remember to go back to the standard set-up for non-Buzz'ed guitars, but that is as easy as switching the offset knob. Cool.
  18. Dave, I don't have the answer, but I am having a similar issue with my EB Volume pedal, except reverse of yours. Had it plugged into Exp 2 as a volume pedal and the "off" (heel-down) value fluctuates from 0% - 8%. Which means I get some signal bleed when I really want it off. I looked at the pedal closely and can see it has a bit of play which I think it causing the problem for me. I've swapped it out for now and am using a Mission pedal instead, but I like the feel and the throw on the EB better.
  19. Got the Ultimate Keyboard bag, fits perfectly.
  20. Thanks, Joe. I did something different than what you show, and the pedal now works, at least as a volume pedal. I haven't tried any other functions yet.
  21. All set, I found some earlier posts with some folks trying to do something similar. I just moved the green wire on the out jack to the same post as the red wire, now it works. Saved me $130, so that is great!
  22. Maybe someone who owns the Mission EP-L6 would be kind enough to open one up and post a photo of the wiring? Thanks
  23. Not sure this has been covered so I'll ask.... Just picked up the Helix, very cool unit. Still have the Avid Eleven Rack, and wanted to try the Mission EP-11 I have with the Helix. So I know the EP-11 uses a TRS cable and the Helix wants to see a TS cable. If I plug the EP-11 in with a TS cable, it works in a backwards fashion, regardless of the position of the polarity switch on the pedal. So I'm thinking I'll need to re-wire the pedal, which is no biggie. Just not sure what goes where. Here is the what the EP-11 looks like now. Thanks for any assistance-
