  1. Just look at all the confusion over shipping dates for the first wave of Helix units that went out. Now they've changed the price for this version...in a direction that won't make retailers smile. Had they raised the MSRP, I guarantee that would have been the first thing updated. It'll take forever and a day to get that rectified....and anybody you manage to get on the phone will tell you "I don't know anything about that". They'll be looking at the same screen you are, and regurgitating what's in front of them.
  2. It ain't gonna get any better...sooner or later it's gonna crap out completely. May as well deal with it now.
  3. Lol...fair enough. I was only looking at the newer posts.
  4. Huh? Did somebody ask where to find it?
  5. The 4 cable method (4CM) will allow you to do what you want. There are 1000 threads on here describing it. A quick search will provide at least a week's worth of reading material.
  6. Then it's coming from somewhere else, lol...at least in some cases. Admittedly, not all my patches require de-fizzing, but some do...
  7. Lmao... If one can hear 42%, do you think they can also smell the number "7"? I'd like to meet that guy. From a distance, or behind glass...thick glass. ;)
  8. Lol...that was quick! You beat my edited post. ;) I might not have thought to put it before the mixer block, did you try it after? Just curious...
  9. That's good to hear...mine should be here in a day or two. I'm running an L2T also, hoping for the same results. What settings are you using on the pedal itself? Also, I don't know if I would have thought to put it before the mixer block...did you try it after, just out of curiosity?
  10. Ordinarily I'd say "Spending $17 on a new cable", but if it's already happening with more than one, then the problem almost has to be the guitar itself...the jack, or perhaps something farther down the line. Does the same thing happen running on the battery and a 1/4" cable?
  11. If all else fails, you've got magnetic pickups that aren't half bad...it's not like you'll need or want feedback for minutes at a time anyway.
  12. Nothing wrong with that either. Here's something else to try if you're liking the dual amp patches. It's an old studio trick for artifically "doubling" tracks. Set up your two amps (for this it works best if you use the same amp model), but place a very short delay (+/-20ms) in front of one of them, then pan them hard L and R. Through headphones (or stereo amps) it gives a nice fat sound for crunchy rhythm tones...sort of simulates the slight timing discrepancies that you'd get with two separate performances.
  13. I respect your honesty, but you'll never get to be CEO this way ;) "Incentive" is easily manufactured...first, don't advertise all that info. Second, leave the MSRPs right where they were, and THEN advertise your "bundle". You could sell a metric ton of $h*t-covered brussels sprouts at a BBQ competition with this method...people will buy absolutely anything if they think they're getting a deal. Did everyone enjoy Cyber-Monday? We now return you to your regularly scheduled holiday madness...;)
  14. A retailer (allegedly) told a fib?!?!?!?!?! I'll alert the media...
  15. It's a little more than that. I'm not talking about clicking an overdrive on and off in front of the same amp model for just a little extra dirt...I mean switching between two tones that are galaxies apart. Going from crystal clean to a thick, saturated distortion on two completely different amp models...there's no way to do that smoothly by switching to a different patch. But fade in/fade out transitions are worth the price of the POD, imho.
  16. Oops...let the shaming begin! Everyone fire up your righteous indignation pedals....3,2,1...GO!!!
  17. That's it...works wonders. Most of my live patches are set up this way, even if it's not clean/dirty tones. I'll set up a crunchy rhythm tone with a slightly more overdriven, mid-rangey lead sound, and just glide from one to the other. I've grown to hate the sudden changes from switching to a separate patch...sometimes it's unavoidable, but for most tunes, I don't have to do it anymore. Makes me wonder how I tolerated it all those years...this is infinitely better.
  18. Scratchiness or no, that certainly sounds like a contact issue to me. I had a similar problem with a 5-way on a 7-string I bought earlier this year...was getting no sound at all from the neck pickup, but jiggling the switch a little would get it to work intermittently. This was a brand new guitar, so I wouldn't expect much in the way of oxidation on the switch, but one squirt with contact cleaner and all is well...hasn't been a problem since. It's certainly worth a shot before taking out the scalpel.
  19. Well, this is all hearsay anyway...retailers have a long and storied tradition of telling breathtaking lies, particularly if it effectively shifts blame and gets an angry customer of their back. So there's no proving anything either way, and none of it would hold up in court. That being said, the answer to your question (unfortunately) is obvious. We could argue all day long about whether or not there's a moral or ethical obligation to scream QC issues from the rooftops, but the real question is why would they? Calling attention to the flaws of your recently released and hotly anticipated product, is a great way to get people to shop somewhere else...not to mention making every existing customer's butt itch, wondering when their unit will crap out. So you'll never see any company do that. You think the auto industry issues recalls out of the kindness of their hearts? Recalls are very expensive. No, they do it because there are consumer product safety laws that require them to do so, but this wasn't always the case. Back in the good old days, the ONLY way you'd ever find out about the faulty wiring, was after your car burst into flames. Welcome to the business world...it's a nice place. ;)
  20. How many steps are there? They're either making them, or they're not...
  21. Well, given that they seem to be having issues keeping up with demand for the version that was already released, I wouldn't hold me breath for the timely release of Helix's rack-mount cousin.
  22. Cool, thanks. I gambled and grabbed one from Amazon for $40/free shipping. I've blown 40 bucks on stuff a whole lot dumber than this, so I figure it's worth the risk. ;)
  23. Buying used gear is always a leap of faith, especially with something as complicated as the PODs...If it turns on, all the foot switches work, and it doesn't seem to have been dragged behind a pickup truck, or used for target practice...that's about as much as you're gonna be able to figure out without sitting down with it for an extended test drive.
