That's the one thing I'm certain they won't do... the lawyers will never allow it. Nevermind that the number of overheated batteries represented some infinitesimally small percentage of the total units in the wild...they'll never risk the liability.
-
A bigger problem will be keeping his guitar in tune and feeling his fingers after the first 15 minutes...outdoor gigs suck in the cold. 3 C° might not be terribly frigid for wandering around with your hands in your pockets, but for gigging it blows. Been there, done that...no more for me, lol
-
Well I have no way of knowing it this is the case or not, but I really hope it's something else... an "oops" that nobody thought of... because if all they did was limit the charging capacity, then it's the most pathetic "fix" to a problem in all of recorded history.

I'm in the same boat... but with the world coming apart at the seams, and a music gear manufacturer hardly considered an "essential service", my guess is there's a skeleton crew at the L6 mothership, if there's anyone there at all. I'm not expecting an answer anytime soon. Then again, with all the bars, restaurants, and catering joints closed until God knows when, it hardly matters... I have no idea when my next gig will be.

You don't mention an OS, but if you're a Mac guy you should already have GarageBand, which is a very capable DAW. It has plenty of baked in effects and EQ options, has worked with every plug-in I've tried to use with it, and is stupid easy to navigate (which is definitely not the case for some others I've seen), which for a novice is not a bad thing. ProTools it ain't, but for getting your feet wet it's more than sufficient.

This is a garbage in/garbage out scenario. No headphone amp on earth can resuscitate a patch that sounds fundamentally lousy, nor will it transform fundamentally $hitty headphones into a good pair of cans. If you're looking for a magic bullet, this ain't it, trust me. The overwhelming majority of Helixers who rely heavily on headphones (and that includes me) are not using a dedicated external headphone amp... you don't need it (unless you've got a pair of very high impedance cans and you need the extra power to drive them at sufficient volume, but that's a whole other discussion). There tends to be a pretty steep learning curve for just about everybody when they're new to modeling. What you need at the outset is to come to terms with the fact that creating tones with a modeler is fundamentally different than using a guitar amp. You have to think like a recording engineer, not a guitar player... because you're recreating the signal chain you'd have in a studio, in the digital realm...an amp, a cabinet, and a mic... all heard through a pair of studio monitors in the control room, not what you'd hear sitting next to the amp itself. This is where most guys go wrong in the beginning. Check out Jason Sadites' YouTube channel... he's got some excellent Helix tutorials for anybody starting at square one.

This. Given that the frequency response curves of our ears/ brain are decidedly not linear, it's the perception of volume that matters, not fixating on the number that a meter spits out.
-
Oh goody... Meter Madness returns! Get you're whining in soon gents, and be sure to prep for the next round of b1tching over congenital Helix flaws. Once we don't have a lack of meters to snivel about anymore, we'll need a new Existential Threat To Tone to complain about.

Wish I could say the same...it updated without issue and functions normally...however, the battery life went from 6 hours+ on a full charge to less than 3 hours now, literally overnight. I'm sure safety improvements make the lawyers happy, but if the price is cutting the device's usefulness in half, I'd rather have taken my chances with an overheating battery...I had no issues with more than a year of almost daily use. Normally I know when to leave well enough alone, but instead I went along with the recommendations instead of my gut. Last time I'll do that. Already opened a ticket...we shall see.

Yes... but if you're intend to use the 4CM, then you're still gonna be stuck lugging a 25kg head around.

Important Safety Information for G10/G10S/G10T Owners

There are two updates... one for the transmitter and one for the receiver. L6 Updater won't recognize the transmitter until it's fully seated in the receiver. -
Reselling returned items as "new" is a time-honored retail tradition... it's not terribly ethical, but ubiquitous nonetheless. They can get away with it as long as the original packaging isn't mangled enough to make it obvious... when that threshold gets crossed, then they'll sell it as an "open box" item at a discount that will vary depending on just how "used" the thing looks.

How can i make other metal amps sound like the Badonk?

No matter what I do, I can't get scotch to taste like vodka... anybody got any tips? ;) -
Because ths Spider has no effects loop, you have no choice but to feed the 500X directly into the front end of the amp. In addition to creating a great deal of noise, daisy chaining two modelers together is redundant and counterproductive... pumping amp, cab, and mic model combinations from the 500X through another amp model and into an actual guitar cabinet will create a muddled, $hitty mess that will be nearly impossible to EQ your way out of.... trust me. When you're new to modeling, it's best to keep things simple, and use whatever you've got as it was intended... the 500X and the Spider were not designed to be paired. Stick with what you've got, and learn to create some tones with the available options in the Spider. Everything you need to get started is already there... what you're proposing is unnecessarily cumbersome, and you will find it very difficult to get a usable tone.

The best of luck to them with that, lol...nagging is eternal. Just ask any married man. ;)

If that's the case, then I'm at a loss... I've owned so many guitars over the years that I've probably forgotten a bunch of them at this point. Can't imagine what would be causing that unplugged, even if it's minimal. Sympathetic resonances making stuff rattle and buzz, sure... but I cannot fathom what would make a guitar effectively harmonize with itself.
-
That head has multiple amp models and onboard effects as it is... what exactly are you looking for that isn't already in there?
-
Interesting, but way overpriced imho...

In exactly 4 moons... be not afraid.

Fwiw, I really couldn't care less when it arrives... I've managed well over 2 years without 2.9 and the magic beans contained therein, whatever they are. I'll take it whenever it gets here, gratefully... but I just don't have the time or the energy to be perched on the edge of my seat for this stuff.
-
They wouldn't be terribly useful if you couldn't combine them with amps, cabs, or other FX...you can put it anywhere in the chain you want, with anything else you want, as long as you don't run out of DSP. But generally speaking, pitch shifting effects work better early in the chain before the amp or any distortion FX. When I use them it's always the first thing after the guitar.
