  1. The subscription model for this kind of product is more than a little off-putting to me. If you have a truly great product, then by all means charge a premium for it... but aside from various utilities/services that have become modern "necessities", I honestly can't think of a single thing on this earth so good, that I'd be willing to pay for it forever. Maybe it's me...
  2. No two output methods will sound identical, regardless of the specs. Comparing any set of headphones to studio monitors is difficult, simply because of proximity and relative volume. The cans are directly on top of your ears, and monitors are some distance away, and you're hearing not only the direct sound, but room reflections, etc... then there's the question of open or closed back headphones, the latter tending to have more pronounced bass response, etc etc... the list goes on. Bottom line is you can expect to have to tweak things differently depending on how you're monitoring... sometimes the differences will be subtle, sometimes not. There's no one size fits all approach. It all depends on the kind of sound your looking for, and the individual pieces of gear in your rig.
  3. Your choice of a power source isn't nearly as much of an issue as the speaker(s). To really take advantage of what a modeler can do, requires a clean slate for the output. That means FRFR speakers, which guitar amps and cabs decidedly do not have. Think of it this way... if you're using a Fender amp model and pumping it through a Marshall 4x12 with greenbacks, the end result is gonna be a whole lot more Marshall than Fender... the power source is almost irrelevant. Celestion greenbacks will never sound like anything but what they are. This doesn't mean that you can't run Helix into a traditional amp and cab... many do and are happy with the results. But you won't be able to take advantage of everything Helix has to offer.
  4. What does "high sound" mean? Are you talking about feedback, a volume spike compared to the other guitars you've tried? You'll have to be a little more specific.
  5. It's the delivery that's funny (or rather the lack thereof), not the content. This guy evidently grasps the concept of sarcasm, but hasn't the faintest idea how to convey it without looking like a weird basement dweller who's misplaced his happy pills...I was half expecting him to announce that L6 has been contacting him through the tiny receivers the CIA placed in his molars.
  6. It's not often that I'm speechless, lol.... somebody posted this in the Lounge, but it really belongs in here. Make sure you're all wearing your tin foil hats before viewing. ;)
  7. I hate it when I leave the house without my tin foil hat...
  8. The saddle itself is the piezo. The inner part, where the string actually rests, that is. String tension is the only thing keeping it in place. Remove the string and it'll be obvious.
  9. It's probably the piezo. Try looking here: www.fullcompass.com
  10. The words "corporate" and "soul" don't really belong in the same sentence... On the other hand, I bet I could order a soul from Amazon, and have it here by this time tomorrow...;)
  11. Beyond putting the wah block early in the chain (I always put it first), before any compressors/ distortions/ mod fx/etc, same as you would with a "real" amp, I'm not sure what to suggest... they work fine for me.
  12. Here's the rub though... the whole point of using an FRFR speaker is to provide a clean slate with no added color, so a modeler can do what it does, unencumbered. With that in mind, any two speakers that are truly FRFR will sound essentially the same. If you lined up half a dozen different ones to try, you may notice very subtle differences, but the odds of having a night and day, "eureka!" moment are slim to none, because they're all designed to do the same thing. Which in a sense, is nothing... except make you audible. It won't be like A/B-ing a Marshall vs a Boogie cabinet. If you really want to stick with the goal of running direct to FOH, it really means making peace with the fact that fundamentally, modelers are not guitar amps. It's a different philosophy, a slightly different feel, and for most it requires a period of adjustment. But it's not for everybody... and that's OK, too. If Marshall's are your thing, try some Celestion based IR's... that might get you closer to a sound you can live with.
  13. On the second Tuesday with a full moon, after Mardi Gras. Unless it's raining. Then it's anybody's guess...;) Seriously though, just in case it wasn't obvious from the preceding 16 pages of madness, nobody here knows how or why L6 does anything. All we can do is guess. In the meantime, hug a cow... apparently it's all the rage. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/12/style/self-care/cow-cuddling-therapy.html
  14. We'd have no choice but to respect it... it would be completely devoid of replies. How do you find fault with a vacuum of nothingness? ;)
  15. Bravo, sir. Well said.
  16. Oozing from "safe spaces" and "free speech zones" across this great land of ours... has anyone seen my emotional support 3 toed sloth? ;)
  17. Here's an uncomfortable thought...what if that one's "late", too? Gigs I haven't booked yet might be affected! Who's addressing this potential for catastrophe that may never actually affect a living soul? I spent money, dammit! I want the unanswerable answered! ;)
  18. It's Friday, and I'm out of here in an hour. Be home by rum:30...;)
  19. Exactly. Since the discussion didn't follow "the rules", and didn't instantly yield the info he wanted, he decided it was his place to scold those responsible. And my, what courage it took to confront all of us stupid, insensitive clods from a laptop in the depths of the internet (do you suppose the internet is as deep as my ignorance? Lmao) ... Imagine trying the same thing when you overhear a conversation you don't like down at your favorite watering hole. How do you suppose that would play out? People f'in baffle me...
  20. Making a point is fine and dandy. We all do that here... constantly, lol. But, hoisting oneself upon the moral high ground and acting as if this self-proclaimed status is a birthright to dictate behavior, while denigrating "lesser" people in the process, is quite another. That's not "making a point", it's "punishing the wicked" so that he can pad what is already a comically overblown and thoroughly undeserved swell opinion of himself. It is self serving hypocrisy writ large. Most people, unless they're paying tuition, don't much care for being lectured by the high and mighty.
  21. Think and say what you will. Nobody is trying to silence you or the caped crusader above... he can drone on about everyone else's alleged "insensitivity" until he's blue in the face. However, he's openly attempting to gag the rest of us if we don't conform to his vision of what's "acceptable". And therein lies the difference. I took issue with his opinion... but I didn't tell him he's not allowed to express it, nor did I comment on his mental capacity. That was all him. If pretending that there's no difference between us is what gets you to sleep at night... knock yourself out. I don't care either way. Enjoy your day.
  22. 2.9 will come with a lifetime membership in the Cheese Wheel of the Month Club. Assuming that the lactose intolerant among us don't riot, of course... they might feel left out. ;)
  23. And theres it is...the self-appointed saviors of the earth can never avoid sanctimoniousness and flagrant hypocrisy for very long. We clearly disagree, yet I haven't found it necessary to call you names. So remind me, who's the bad guy again? Us ignorant folk get confused so easily. Also, I'm sad now...and your thoughtless, callous posts are responsible for my fragile emotional state.... perhaps if you were more empathetic, this wouldn't have happened. If the wrong crusaders see any of this, you might get drummed out of the "Look Ma, I'm Caring!" Society. Then what?
  24. Yup... neuter all conversation just in case 0.17% of those who happen upon the discussion can't cope with the fact that "upsetting" or "off topic" words have been spoken. That'll make the world a better place. Everyone make sure that you're catering to everyone and everything under the sun with every thought, word and deed.... because absolutely everything you say or do, no matter how benign, is guaranteed to be a personal affront to someone, somewhere... and you should be appropriately ashamed. In advance. We are all terrible people, and God help us if we haven't taken every conceivable circumstance into consideration before we talk about the weather, when we're "supposed" to be talking firmware. And especially if it's a Tuesday. It's offensive to discuss the weather in the Madagascar on Tuesdays... and you don't want that on your conscience.
  25. Thank you for proving my point... Ok folks, you heard the man... from now on it's urinal rules in here. Eyes front, no talking! ;) Anything outside the scope of the thread topic, no matter how innocuous, is a "breach of etiquette", and shall not be tolerated. I wonder if Emily Post would have survived thet internet age....
