There's a reason those things are referred to as "farting bedposts"...;)

Not that any of this matters in the slightest... but why not 4.0? Or 5.0, or 9.0? They've been talking up "2.8" for months, and they've known what's gonna be in it all along. If they were at all concerned with "highlighting" anything via an arbitrary number, then they'd have been pimping "3.0" the whole time. I'll wager a testicle that they're not gonna change the designation at the 11th hour for the sake of numerical optics. Left or right... you choose. ;)

HX Stomp: FX volume levels, Amp & Cab models through P.A.
cruisinon2 replied to Oscargtr's topic in Helix
1) You're gonna get 3017 opinions on this one... some will swear on a stack of bibles that only a team of Area 51 geeks, armed with tech looted from downed alien craft can appropriately level volumes with a modeler. As far as I'm concerned all you need is ears. There are numerous ways to boost the volume of a patch... just about every block has a level parameter, though the amp model's channel volume and the output block level should really be all you need. If you max out the unit's master volume knob, then you've got nowhere to go without digging into individual block parameters. Not terribly convenient at a gig...leave yourself some headroom. If you've already red-lined the master volume and it still isn't loud enough, then the levels are too low elsewhere in your patches. 2) Output to line.- 2 replies

I don't recall anyone saying you can make a Fender sound like a Marshall. That's a given. If you could, there'd be no reason for modelers to exist, and L6 would be selling sneakers or cheeseburgers. But that's really neither here nor there. His comment had nothing to do with wanting a particular sound, or claiming that all amps sound the same. All he did was express the opinion that ACDC would probably have managed just fine had they chosen to use something other than Marshalls. There's nothing wildly unreasonable about that notion...honestly, I think it's a perfectly valid point. I seriously doubt that Angus Young would have ended up a plumber or an insurance adjuster if Marshalls didn't exist. But alas, we'll never know... it's just a philosophical musing that can't be proven one way or the other. Either way though, nobody's arguing that gear is all he same.

Not without a Variax...and even then, while you can assign an effect parameter to either the volume or tone knobs, there's no way to get an effect to respond to playing dynamics.
-
Which of course begs the question, why did you continue reading? There are countless other threads that manage to focus solely on utterly pointless, childish whining. You can salt your oatmeal with firmware- related tears by reading one of those... happy b1tching! ;)
-
Lmao... you didn't actually think that we were done with the incessant skirt-tugging and "where's my firmware?" snot bubbles, did you? As long as we're asking for stuff, I want a vomit emoji for our "reaction" menu... ;)
-
Yep, that's it. In fact, I have it on good authority that they're getting out of the music business altogether. New company slogan is "Line 6: Lunatic Whisperers"....;)

If there's a nearby wireless router, that may be causing some interference. The unit also relies on line-of-sight to work properly. 15 feet isn't a large distance, but if there's enough crap between you and the receiver, you might have issues.

I was merely talking about one skill vs. another, and the fact that it's exceedingly rare for any one player to have both in abundance....but financial success has little to nothing to do with either one. Whether or not you can manage to put food on the table writing songs, or by having technical mastery of an instrument is an entirely different discussion.
-
That's because mechanical task execution and creativity really have nothing to do with each other... I'd argue that they're almost mutually exclusive. It's a very short list of players who are both technically proficient and capable of writing a decent tune. Most seem to blessed with way more of one than the other.

Battery Drain W/variax Off
cruisinon2 replied to pheld's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Whatever it is, it's a hardware issue that you're unlikely to be able to resolve yourself. Time to open a service ticket... -
Unless the goal is to make things orders of magnitude worse...;) Global EQ is the "quick edit" for room acoustics...that's what it's there for.

+1... 2ms of latency is nothing, and as for playing live with another guitarist...the best two players on earth will never be in perfect sync down to the millisecond. That simply doesn't happen...we are not machines. Hell, you'd have a hard time double- tracking the same part yourself, and getting the wave forms to line up precisely. If you zoom in close enough, there will always be slight discrepancies. In fact, that's why we layer rhythm tracks in the first place... the incremental timing differences and the ever-so-slight chorused effect it provides are what makes multiple stacked guitar tracks sound huge. And if that's not enough to convince anyone, there's always the time honored cheat of recording to 2 tracks simultaneously and putting a 10-20ms delay on one of them to fake a double-tracked part. If that works (and it does), then nobody's hearing 2ms...

A At this point, where doesn't it come from? The participation trophy generation was raised with the steadfast belief that merely existing is in itself, praise-worthy. The universe owes them for breathing...and unless every need, want, and desire is delivered yesterday, exceeding their wildest expectations, and on somebody else's dime, it's an "injustice"... and someone must pay. They're all professional victims.

SalĂșd folks! It took a while, but this has been some of the best whining and sniveling to date! I'm giddy with anticipation for the Why?/I/Me/Gimme-Gimme Festival 3.0... lmfao. Next time around maybe take it up a notch...demand $50 payments for pain and suffering if they're "late" with the firmware again.... anybody got Geraldo's number? This is Pulitzer $hit we've got here...;)

I haven't used Logic, but it's little brother, Garageband, does it... I'd be very surprised if Logic doesn't have that option.
-
Me too... what DAW are you using? Most of them should allow you to loop the part you're recording, and stack an essentially infinite number of takes. Do a handful, then listen back and see which one you want to keep... it'll save you all the running back and forth.
-
Now this is more like it! I was starting to think the Crankypants Festival wouldn't get off the ground this year...Lmfao.... rave on!
-
Ok,the pitchfork is just about your only option then...I don't know of any other polyphonic pitch shifters that go in both directions.
-
I must say I am surprised by the lack of outrage here at Snitfest 2.8... only one vague hint about not buying anymore L6 stuff... I can't believe that nobody is off their meds this week. ;)

Never heard of the Ricochet, but the Digitech Drop does what you want, and does it pretty well. Won't go up though... but honestly, I'm not sure why you'd want that anyway. Only goes down in 1/2 step increments.

Just to echo all the sentiments above... the answer is no. Switching patches will always have an audible gap... it's the nature of the beast, and there's no getting around it. Snapshots are the only remedy.

I hate to rain on your parade, but "official" L6 folks rarely show up here to comment on anything. And even when they do, they have a long established history of not answering answer this kind of question. They simply don't discuss what's in the pipeline. And Idea Scale itself was never meant to be a feedback loop...it exists so the people who design things can gauge what people want...it's not there to be a crystal ball for end users. Plus, it's overflowing with requests. Some might get implemented one day (quite possibly in a completely different product... Helix was born mostly from feature requests for other devices), but my guess is that most will probably never see the light of day. What percentage actually become reality is anybody's guess, though...but either way, you're not gonna succeed in getting them to go through the entire list one by one, providing a "yay" or "nay" for every request, or an explanation as to why any one in particular was or wasn't chosen. It is what it is...

Lol... if it makes you feel any better, I don't care when it drops. I'm just here for the meltdowns...;)
