Can you please provide more details on the crash? Does it crash at startup, before the main UI appears? Is there a particular action needed to make it crash? Thank you.
Can you please try saving to a different location, such as the desktop? Perhaps there is a security issue preventing you from saving to the root of C...
Can you provide more details on the device backup failure? For example, does it fail immediately, or does the backup process run for a while first? Where on disk are you attempting to save the backup?

Regarding Android:
Spider Remote Android requires full support of USB Host Mode on the Android device, and support of this mode varies wildly across Android devices. If you run the Play Store app on an Android device that explicitly does not support USB Host Mode, the Play Store will not show Spider Remote.
While many Android devices claim to support USB Host Mode, many of the implementations are problematic. This post includes links to 3rd-party apps that can be used to determine if an Android device truly supports USB Host Mode: http://line6.com/support/topic/23315-spider-v-android-compatibility-does-your-mobile-device-connect/?do=findComment&comment=177268

If you see the Cloud Update Pending message, it means that a change to your My Tones library was made, and that change has not yet been transmitted to the Line 6 cloud. This usually means that your device is not connected to the internet.
