  1. Sounds cool, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Firewhawk once you get a chance to test drive it.
  2. Thanks for discussing, I appreciate your perspective on all that.
  3. Wow interesting stuff, so you're saying you like the Amplifi patches better than the HD500X? Sorry I don't want to open that can of worms in this thread but still though you seem to be mentioning it? I agree with what you're saying about multiple patches in the same song let alone the set. I have the Amplifi 150 and that's not practical at all without an FBV shortboard. Since that's $200 I've been considering holding off on that and getting a Firehawk instead. What are you plugging everything into, an amp or L2t or the like?
  4. Are you going to keep the FX100 too or sell it when you get the Firehawk? Sorry I can't answer your question though but I'm sure it will be soon.
  5. What about USB? If the Firehawk has a USB out it might be possible? Maybe they could utilize bluetooth and the remote app connecting to both devices somehow? Or add a patch to the Amplifi that when selected will optimize it to work with the Firehawk if you're just plugging it into the guitar input. With the speed at which Line 6 is releasing these products they should be thinking about these things. These features can only help current and future sales. Or at least give an "upgrade" price to existing Amplifi owners. It's not like the Amplifi 150 came out 10 years ago, I've had mine for less than 6 months.
  6. In a similar manner in which the HD500X integrates with the DT25. (Obviously the Amplifi 150 isn't a tube amp but that type of functionality between the devices). For instance if you're using the HD patches with the Firehawk then the Amplifi 150 would function as a speaker the same way it works now for Amplifi patches. If it's not an HD model then it basically turns into an FBV shortboard and you can use it in that manner. I haven't fully thought this through however I'd gladly buy a Firehawk over an FBV shortboard if it did all that.
  7. You're probably sick of answering this question but just quickly how do you feel about the HD500X with the DT25 vs. the L2t?
  8. I hope the Firehawk integrates nicely with the Amplifi (in my case the 150). If so then instead of spending $200 on the FBV Shortboard I can put that money towards the Firehawk and gain the functionality of the shortboard with the all the features of the Firehawk. I think it would open up a lot of possibilities for using a looper with the 150 as well. But they would have to pair together properly, I hope Line 6 does that.
  9. To me for $500 and a minimal amount of space I have something that can do it all with relatively no hassle. The new Firehawk seems nice but lacks some of the features of the 500HD and if you get that or the 500HD you still need a speaker solution. I think it comes down to what your needs and expectations are and what your budget will allow. If it's for casual home use you can't beat the Amplifi 75 or 150. If you have greater requirements than that then you're going to have to look elsewhere. To answer your question the sound quality is really good (subjective I know). If I paid $2000 for it I don't think I'd be very happy but for $500 it's a great deal. What alternatives are you considering?
  10. I don't have an FBV pedal but if I did I would call customer support or something because if it says the feature is available and it's not then they need to address that for sure.
  11. You can also just do a general search as well, on a song title or artist and it will return a lot of tone patches too.
  12. Thanks for the comprehensive reply Wilson, I will give all that a try.
  13. No prob, it's cool. I mentioned that in my reply, I tried to help out! Let me know how you feel about those compressor models vs. the default Line 6 one that's available with every patch. Sounds like you have more experience with them than I do and I'm curious to hear your thoughts, thanks. Of course there's the trade-off involved in that the modeled compressors take up one of your assignable slots so that's the other consideration.
  14. Good idea but I think the headphones out completely shuts off the speaker system and I think that would apply to the aux-in as well. I think for what I'd like to do I need to buy more stuff. A lot of it and that's what I'm trying to avoid because I'm just a hobbyist and I don't get paid for playing guitar so.... lol
  15. Not sure, I actually don't have a looper and haven't made use of the USB out recording feature yet. I just got the Amplifi and and electric recently. I'm not new to playing guitar but I haven't played electric for 10 years and have been playing only acoustic. I thought the Amplifi 150 was a good place to get started and I like the looper pedals but haven't picked one out yet. I know that I'd like to be able to record loops using all the patches & effects that the Amplifi provides but not sure exactly how to do that. When I started this thread it was before the USB recording was available so I was just thinking about it, and would use that info to select a looper pedal, possibly. I just don't know if it makes sense to buy a bunch of pedals to put before the looper when I have all those effects already built into the Amplifi 150 and the remote app but then again maybe it does.
  16. This is what's available on the Amplifi 150, I'm guessing they'd be the same for the 75. It's under Drives & Dynamics. Thing is you need to use one of your three assignable slots. Too bad you can't assign one of these models to the dedicated compressor slot but I guess that's the way it works. Red Comp – Based on* the MXR® Dyna Comp, probably the most widely used stompbox compressor. Bue Comp –Based on* the Boss® CS-1 Compression Sustainer with the treble switch off. Blue Comp Treb – Based on* the Boss® CS-1 Compression Sustainer with the treble switch on. Vetta Comp – This effect is taken from the Vetta II, Line 6’s flagship guitar amplifier. A Line 6 original, Vetta Comp has a fixed ratio (2.35:1, in case you’re asking) with the threshold (that would be your Sens knob) adjustable from -9dB to -56dB and up to 12dB of gain available at the Level knob. In other words, turn the Sens knob ‘til you like the way your signal’s compressed, then set the volume with Level. Vetta Juice – A Line 6 original originally created for our flagship Vetta II guitar amplifier, the ‘Juice’ in Vetta Juice comes from the 30dB of available gain in the Level knob. Holy smokes, this thing’s packin’ some heat! It’s got a fixed threshold of -40dB with the Sens knob varying compression ratio from 1.5: 1 all the way up to 20:1 (which is a whole heck of a lot). This combination of design features gives you the option of cranking the level enough to get some serious gain boost, or setting the gain lower and dialing up a smooth, clean sustain. Take your pick, and dial away. Auto Swell – This effect is an envelope generator, similar to the Boss®SG-1 Slow Gear and other pedals. Each note or chord that you play ramps up. You can dial in the ramp time here to give you the kind of ‘bowed’ attacks that might otherwise require you to have your pinky rolling the volume knob on your guitar with every pick attack. Longer ramp times in combination with delay and reverb can keep you occupied for a pleasant hour or two, seeing what kind of chords you can come up with to blend into each other. You’ve got Ramp time to set over how long the swell takes to happen, plus Depth to determine how much the volume of your attacks is reduced.
  17. Now that the Amplifi has the USB out recording option, is there a way to run that into a looper and record loops? This way you can create loops using the patches and playing that you hear from the Amplfi 150?
  18. I'm wondering if everyone's going with the Line 6 compressor that's available by default on every patch or if you're using one of the modeled compressors instead?
  19. I don't find the power switch a problem to access, do you like to leave the amp in a cabinet or with the back against something? Either way, It's pretty easy to get to the switch I'd say.
  20. This looks great but we'll have to wait to get more details from Line 6. I wonder if they're planning to push the next POD up into the $1000 price range and this will take the place of the current POD.
  21. Not sure if this will help much but each patch is modeled using 1 of 3 different mics. Try one of the other mic models and see if that gets you a little closer to what you're looking for.
  22. I don't have one but you can access all the presets on the amp with the Shortboard controller without needing the remote app. http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvshortboardmkii.html
  23. This doesn't answer your question but in case you haven't seen it yet it's really useful info: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifi-products/ampl/amplififulllistofampsandeffects#en
  24. Yeah good advice, check all the volumes, the two on the amp (click the big volume button you should see the color change from red to white) and the one on the patch in the app. (The two on the amp are also controllable through the app and those volumes are different from the volume in the patch).
  25. I don't know about adding a subwoofer but I did find the lack of an ability to adjust the bass & treble on the amp when using it as a bluetooth player to be a bit lacking. The only thing I could come up with was adjusting the EQ in the settings on my iPhone but that's a hassle when one song has booming bass and the next one doesn't. I'm not complaining though the amp is great for what it is. I'll get a dedicated bluetooth player eventually, it would be nice to have as it's more designed for music playback.
