  1. I hope we will get some feedback from the original poster. i'm not into Banjo playing, but it`s always fun to see people using the amp for something else then guitar. BTW did anyone try a bass on the Spider V? I know there is not a lot of bass models, but I'm just curious how it would sound.
  2. Personally I would love to have the choice of using a tablet/phone or a PC, but I'm not holding my breath for this. I'm sure Line6 looked at the sales of tablets vs sales of laptops and the demographic they are targeting with this AMP when they decided to go for one instead of the other. https://www.statista.com/statistics/272595/global-shipments-forecast-for-tablets-laptops-and-desktop-pcs/ Tablets have been out selling laptops for the last 4 years. Now if you add the huge number of smart phones being sold both Android and iOS to the tablets market share it becomes even more obvious why they went with one instead of the other. One possible way around this, would be if Line6 was to release the API to the amp so the community could built their own PC software, but Line6 might have some stuff they consider intellectual property so this might never happen. Amplifi has been out even longer then Spider V and to my knowledge they have yet to produce a PC version for it.
  3. I find the people on this forum are for the most part really friendly and are trying hard to help, gtrman100 is a good example. I don't understand why some folks are so agressive unless they are trying to get a reaction? The Spider Remote app is a free download so you can try it before you purchase the amp. For the most part it is very intuitive. It's not perfect but it's a lot of fun.

    USB Interface

You need to install the USB audio driver http://fr.line6.com/software/index.html Search for Spider V You also update your amp to firmware 1.03 if you have not already done so.
  5. Just get a cheap tablet and a long USB cable...works very well...I using an old 10 inch Sony Xperia Z.

    USB Interface

The app to control the amp is called Spider remote and you can get it for iOS or Android. On Android you need an OTG adapter to connect the amp. There is currently no app for PC to control the amp. The PC can be used for recording

    240 hc and cab

I ordered my V240 before the HC was announced. I almost canceled my order because of that. In the end I decided the combo was better for my needs and I'm really enjoying it. Let us know how you like the HC.
  8. In my case for a lot of the presets, I have to dial the drive down a bit. My favorite guitar has Seymour Duncan P90s so that might be related. I wil look at your presets ADBrown, thanks
  9. Presets usually get a bad reputation on most amps. On the Spider V some of them are average, some are good and some are very good. So what are you're favourites presets? I like the Crazy Diamond and the Wish You Were to play along with some Pink Floyd tracks. The Dual Verb is also very cool.
  10. The problem with the S6 is for all OTG devices, and it depens on the actual phone version apparently...Mine is a SM-G920W8 btw
  11. Are you using an OTG cable? Are you sure you have the switch at the back on the Android side? So far all my tablets work fine, only problem I have is my Samsung S6.
  12. Running firmware 1.0.3, and a Ugreen OTG adapter, I tested with the following devices: Samsung Galaxy S6 phone........ Android 6.0.1... Not stable Sony Experia Z 10inch tablet......Android 5.1.1....Works well Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8inch....Android 6.0.1.....Works well Asus MeMo pad 7inch...............Android 5.1.1.....Works well Note: Both the Experia and the Tab E were use for periods of 2 hours+ without a single disconnect. On both I downloaded many presets from the cloud and changed parameters on those presets without a glitch.
  13. In a previous thread on this forum, someone from line6 gave the link to download the driver: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=7232 You might have to login first...not sure
  14. I upgraded my amp from 1.02 to 1.03 earlier this week using my laptop running Windows 7 Entreprise edition and all the USB drivers installed automatically. In your computer up to date on patches?
  15. Also some patches from the tone cloud have a volume pedal in the signal chain. You get no sound unless you turn the pedal off if you don't have a pedal connected. Took me a few minutes to realise this, I was freaking thinking my new amp had gone bad! :-)

    OTG cable

Could not find an all-in-one cable. So I got a Ugreen Micro USB 2.0 OTG adapter from Amazon it works well so far.
  17. Did more tests... Asus Memopad 7 running Android 5...works fine. I was able to connect and also to stream musique from Google play musique.
  18. Got my V240 yesterday and I've been making a lot of noise since. I received my OTG adapter today. My "old" Sony Experia Z tablet works very well. No crash no disconnect. I even tried to yank the USB cable and reconnect it, took a few seconds and the app was connected again. The only think strange on the tablet, the firmware update function does not work. My V came from the factory at 1.02 and even if I'm logged into the cloud I can't see 1.03. On my Samsung S6 phone the app connected the first time, told me a new version of firmware was available (1.03) so I clicked update the firmware was downloaded and it looked like it was installed, but the amp still shows 1.02. After this first connect the phone will not connect again. I did not try to reboot the phone, instead I reconnected the tablet and the app there reconnected...I will try to do more troubleshooting on the S6 another day. Having a 9+ inch display is a lot of fun...:-D The app is also very responsive you can turn effects on and off in real time. Dowloading a tone from the cloud is also quick. One thing I noticed a lot of tones have a volume pedal turned on...you will not get any sounds unless you turn this off if you don't have a pedal connected.... My kids all have tablets I will tried them later this week and update this post with the results. We have one Galaxy Tab, one Acer, and 2 Asus Memopad... ,,,
  19. I agree 100%, better search and filters would be nice. For example I would like to see tones with a 4 or 5 star rating with more than 20 votes.
  20. Amplifi was release with an iOS only client at first, this was clearly stated at the time the amp was released and the reason I did not get one. However the Android client was released only a few months after the amp. So why do you say it does not work with Android? In my opinion, Line6 made a mistake not including the 2 dollar OTG cable adapter and not providing a list of tested devices with the SpiderV. Of course you will also have many people here complaining about devices not connecting. Typically people come to forum like this one to seak help. You see similar threads for most connected devices. This is the nature of the Web. Having the option to use the app and a DAW at the same time would be nice I agree, but you can tweak all parameters on the amp directly. Even with a PC client you could have issues having the amp connected to two apps at the same time. This is why having the amp control as a module in the DAW would be the best solution. A workaround is to use Virtualbox on a PC some people on this forum seem to use this setup with succes.

    OTG cable

Did someone found a cable with a USB type B coonector to micro USB connector that is an OTG adapter? Would be nice to have a one cable solution, no adapters or converters.
