yeah I did open a ticket as I was debating to send it in to have the tap tempo button replaced/cleaned whatever. I don't want to try and tackle that and void any warranty. I will try what was mentioned above, but I've tried copying/pasting several single presets from different locations into it and seems to get the same error. Only time I didn't get the error was during the restore from backup procedure,
-
ok tried a full reinstall of 2.82....restore from backup....the preset names now say 'new preset' and they are blank, but when I try to acces them, I get these errors Error 1: Failed to paste one or more presets Unknown communication error Error 2 (after the 1st error is cleared): Failed to get preset names Service is not online [code -8207}
-
alright, tried the 11 & 12 button reset, it seemed to erase the preset, but when I checked by copying/pasting a preset on top of the 'newly blank' version...I got the same error. Tried a backup from restore...only restoring setlists (after backing up the one that I want to keep)....and it couldnt complete when it got to the setlist>preset with the issue....
-
I can try that. I did try to import a different setlist over the whole thing and it got to the 68% level (about where #84 is located) and stopped. I can try that too. All good helps....
-
I'll try the delete preset steps, I wasn't aware of those. I was going to do a full restore, I did back up my core template setlist...so should be good there. Thanks for the tips I'lll try tonight.

I was copy/pasting empty presets onto ones that had song presets already saved. When I got to preset 84, it gave me the error. I can delete the ones after 84, but the names for 84/85 are missing partially, and the presets are empty.

I have one or more presets in a setlist I want to utilize that are giving me an error. I don't know how to remove them. I had a setlist that was a song library of all the songs (I go a song per preset in my lists for band shows) and I was copy/pasting to clear it out to use the new preset templates I created and I get an error and my Helix screen turns blank, have to power up and its fine again. I've tried different methods to try and overwrite it. What are my best steps to get this corrected for my shows Friday/Saturday...I have about 80 presets I need to redo. Otherwise Its back to basic tones on my GT100 as a backup....

So I tried this....and didn't get the results I wanted. First I opened the IR, and raised the level 9db, thought that would be a good number to show a difference and allow me to have some room to adjust up/down if needed. resaved with a +9db at the end of the file name, reloaded the regular IR and the +9db one in a blank preset to compare to my bypass signal (I want to save a preset with the IR"s I'll use already having the level parameter adjusted so I'm only hearing the IR tone and not a level boost/cut), and all it did was make the EQ curve of the IR more pronounced. Maybe its the FM effect I'm hearing with it, though it just sounded like the EQ curve got more extreme on the high end range.....like the peaks and valleys became higher/lower peaks and valleys. So I made a 2nd attempt and used the 'Normalize' effect on one, it did the same thing, just not as pronounced. I just want to have some room to adjust these as some of them are ok at +3db on the level parameter and some at +6db (the max) it don't quite reach the same volume as my bypass/dry signal.

I could see the last part being helpful for me. I only use a handful of IR's, but if I want to work on a sound and potentially change the amp type and IR type....it'd be cool to click on the IR I was using and see what presets it is linked to...so I can easily copy the amp block over and reassign the IR to the 'new' slot. I already sorta do the same thing with my preset management, but having it visually accessible in Edit would be helpful and save time snooping around

I do this as well on anything above medium gain. I have my input gate set to -53db, 0ms this just helps mute the guitar between songs, as soon as I play it opens up like nothing was there. I add a noise gate block between OD's and Amp block. this helps clean up noise between those....usually set to -48db/0ms. When I kick my leads on...I disable the 2nd noise gate as I don't want it to choke any sustaining/feedbacking notes I get through my wedge.

well, self cleaning is not working as its been this way for awhile, and just recently been 'worse' to the point of getting stuck in the down position now.

this last line is what I just recently found out. I purchased the Freidman Cabs from Ownhammer...they sound great, but were missing something....I went back to the stock cabs, I liked what they were doing...but still missing something...I tried combining the use of both, and it was getting closer for me.... then....I found some IR files that I'm not even sure where or how I got them. Not even sure what cab/speaker/mic they are.....the files are merely listed as 412 creamy, 412 Boomy etc.....not very descriptive to my 'wanting to know everything tendencies'....but I tried them. Settled on the 412 Creamy...its a nice thick midrangey cabinet sound and works great in my monitor and in our band mix.... Just saying, I normally would choose IR's based on cabinet/speaker/mic (with my limited experience, reading and all) and work with those...ultimately I tried a file that has no information and it works.

i think its just the physical button. I have no problems with it registering stomps or anything 'under the hood'

my lead boosts are almost in a similar approach across all 11 of my sounds. I will have an OD before the amp (sometimes 2 OD's, sometimes 2 OD's and an EQ), a Delay at the end. For the most part I like a few different blocks as 'boosts' to the amp for rhythm as they tighten and help me define my rhythm sound without massive EQing pre/post amp. However, for leads, I like the way an 808 sounds with level all the way up (pending the type of sound, cleaner ones it gets backed down so I don't have to fight a huge volume increase from the pedal output) and I like to keep the drive around 1-2.0 depending on the amp. That way the pedal just colors the tone a bit more. I like the 808 because its not as 'tight' of a pedal...it adds a certain looseness, room vibe that I like. other pedals seem to tighten the amp, but then for leads make it a bit stiff for my tastes. I like rocky bluesy lead tones though for the most part not the tighter metal like lead tones. Anyway, so for me, the 808 will be the last block before the amp...sometimes I can just put that between the rhythm OD/AMP combo, but sometimes I need more 'mid-cut' and will throw a parametric EQ in front of both OD"s and boost about 6-8db of anywhere between 700-950hz depending on the amp tone and what I'm going for. Delay to taste of course, I'm not a delay guru but I stumbled on a setting in the ducking delay that I really like. and I use the output volume block to control my volume boost. I do all my presets with snapshots turning on/off the lead/rhythm changes and such.

yeah and sending it in for a warranty repair at this point is gonna be tough. I'm only a weekend warrior, but I've got about 18 shows between now and end of the year, so no time to send it out and wait for it to come back, unless I get my GT100 up and running again.....Ugh, GT100, lol...... Maybe, I'll send a ticket in and ask if they have a recommended route to try first. Thanks guys.

and getting stuck when I'm trying to tap during a song. causing the tuner to kick in, and cause the button is stuck down, stepping on my current snapshot doesnt retrigger the preset/snapshot audio. Not sure I really wanna open it up and get into all that unless I have to...would just some contact cleaner free that up a bit? or whats my best option?

ive already done the reaper free trial previously, I suppose I could find a way around it and hit it up again... -
So I put together some intro music for my band to play before we start....there is a section in the the middle that would be great with some vocal audio over the top...cheesy, sure, but I think it works.... Anyway, I've never recorded into the laptop before. What settings and such do I need to make sure are enabled. couple things: 1) I've recorded on laptops/cpus before in using on board stuff and just running into a mic input and adjusting levels (your talking 20 years ago and no budget for quality stuff, vocals were with an old PC mic, lol) 2) I have a preset that I use for acoustic/vocal in the same preset and was trying to use that, however, I'm not sure I have the outputs on the Helix right or the inputs on the laptop correct as I was getting no audio. If I used the onboard mic of the laptop I could get it to work. 3) I'm using the free version of Audacity as I don't do this stuff often, but if I can get it to work, I may want to maybe record some stuff so I can hear it played back (to really hear how horrible my playing is). I tried changing my output on the helix to USB 1/2, then tried Multi in case that wasn't right.... but I couldn't seem to get any input on the laptop even with checking audacity's settings (these could be wrong as well. I was only using the USB connection.

I'm planning on getting another talkbox soon, I picture running it this way in my rig. I run a preset per song, and utilize snapshots to change between sounds in the songs. Usually not needing more than 4 snaps. So I run in preset/snapshot mode (4/4). I would run the talkbox in the Helix FX Loop and get the input/outputs of the talkbox/FX Block set right. Then in the preset I'd assign a Talkbox Snapshot to turn on the FX Block (as well as turn off any direct to FOH guitar sound as the main sound would come through my vocal mic then from the talkbox). Unless I wanted to get complicated and run a mix of talkbox and regular guitar...then I'd make adjustments to my regular guitar output.
-
some of them are louder than others, and I get that as different pup's have different outputs....just seem really low. Unless I'm overthinking, its basically an EQ applied to my guitar to make it sound 'similar' to that guitar/pup setup. (I get its not perfect)....but I'd also think you'd want your input/output of the block to be the same whether active/bypassed.
-
I am working on some new core tones...and want to implement these. I asked before why they would suggest that if you need more output you dont use the IR Level, but add another block, a gain one, and increase there or with an EQ block. I'm trying to balance these so they are even with my regular guitar input....to help balance between regular presets and IR presets....their IRs load at -18db, and even +6db, I can barely hear my guitar through my wedge that my presets have no issues getting through. Is there a better way to normalize these?

Why couldn't they approach like Boss did with the GT series. You can call up a stock amp, tweak till your hearts content, then keep it saved as that stock amp OR save it to a user slot (attached to the amp block). Say they gave us 5 user slots. So I create a new preset, I drop in an amp block and I can see all the available amp types based upon dsp. Where the mono/stereo/legacy dropdown is, there'd be another category that says 'User' and when selected show the 5 slots. It would display the amp types saved in each slot....and they would be grayed out or active to be used based on DSP just like the regular menu. I choose the amp type/sound I have saved and away we go to tweekers heaven. I often use the same Legacy Dimension Chorus, and its always the same setting changes......switch 1 on (default off), switch 4 off (default on), adjust mix to around 30-35% (default 100%). It'd be nice to just save that effect as 'Clean Chorus' and call it up. I don't see how that would cause any issues with loading a preset or anything, I could see how making user slots available for each block type could take up precious memory used for additional updates (new effects/amps)....

Well level templates.....I first created a template of what I want in a preset. Started (in order).... (path 1) Para EQ - WAH - OD - AMP, (path 2) IR Block - Para EQ - Reverb - Delay - Vol Block (more on this block later). That gets me any single amp preset mostly that I'd want. Other sounds I may not need these blocks, but I'd rather account for their space/DSP then take them out then try to find how to stick them in later. Plus when I do my song presets, I don't always need a wah, or OD or maybe Delay...so those get removed later as well. I carry on...in my template creation I used the JC-120 as my clean sound...set an overall preset level I was happy with...saved as SA Template. Then copied it to the next preset, renamed DA Template. I duplicated the Amp block on a parallel line (though this will be changing for me I think, see my other thread about parallel vs serial routing), duplicate settings. At the Merge block I raised the level +3db to compensate for the loss of 3db as I don't run dual amps in a combination sound, more so an A/B switching capacity, so to compensate for the difference in volume (science beyond my comprehension) I have to add 3db. I then compared both the SA preset to Amps A and B and they should be similar. When then creating my Single Amp presets (clean/breakup etc.) I copy the SA template to the new location, save as SA - Breakup or whatever....and when I get a tone I like, I compare it at gig-ish volumes to the Clean preset. Once I have them where I feel they are level, I move on to the next and so on. For the DA presets, because of the +3db level setting in the merge block, I should be able to just copy my Amp blocks from the SA presets and paste into a DA preset and they should be REALLY close...which they have been. Any changes I heard were more to compensate for DSP shortages and having to share EQ's or whatever, but its minimal and still sounds good. The next step was to create consistent volume boosts for leads which is done by the volume block at the end of my chain. So above I mentioned that I do the +3db at the merge block...I found that was giving me some inconsistent results when I got to the higher gain amps and how the channel volumes on the amps were then being boosted +db into the rest of my chain..and didn't like having to compensate for that. I want things as consistent as I can get if I need to adjust something I want to have to adjust it the same across all spots, not one preset by x and another preset using the same sound by y because one is a SA and one is a DA preset....does that make sense? lol.....so instead I use my volume block at the end of my chain with a +3db on the DA presets and then any lead boosts are on top of the +3db. This gets me really close, however your mileage may vary of course.
