  1. It's not really 6 rythm guitars, it's 2 guitars playing power chord, 2 guitars playing octave chords, 1 or 2 guitars playing a melody I uploaded a 20 sec example from a song I'm recording, this is 5 guitars, sorry about the low end, it's still kind of messy; Demo Clip
  2. Yeah, I know, what I mean is that unless I get a good source tone, EQing the hell out of the guitars never gets me good results, or it can get me somewhat good results, but then I slap on the 5150 + Mesa Cab combo with some minor EQ cuts and it just sounds better than the tone I've been working on for hours. I'm a bit frustrated because I can get all these good tones but I can never put them to use in my tracks. Hmm, 3k is usually very noisy for me, 4k gets a narrow cut, and I boost 5-6k just a little so the guitar isn't so dark, this can be a problem too because if I raise very high frequency too much it gets noisy, I can boost it just enough which works when there's 2 guitars, but with 6 guitars playing at the same time it can get pretty bad. Also I used to cut 700-900 a lot because it would give me a more metallic sound but now I'm cutting 500-600.
  3. Agree and disagree, a little difference can make a major impact, say you're playing fast open chords with a hi gain amp, that's 2 guitars + 2 more guitars playing octave chords underneath, depends on how you set the Tone knob on your OD pedal will make that part of the track a harsh, unlistenable mess. It's hard to get that right just playing with the guitar tone alone, you have to listen to it together with the mix. I used to have an IR like that but I stopped using it because it was the only one that was I able to make a good mix with, it was pre-processed I think, sounded different and fuller than any other IRs I'd ever tried at the time, but I wasn't feeling too good about that, I wanted to learn to mix IRs mics on my own so I'd be able to shape my guitar tone more freely. I gave it a lot of use though, made 3 EPs with it. I usually do that (without the hi and low pass, I do that when mixing), but in more detail, I set all controls to 5, set the Gain, then start with the bass, set it to 0, then increase it until it's right, then the same with mids, treble, and all the other controls. Tell me, how do you EQ guitars without them sounding horrible? I don't mean surgically removing noise, but big EQ moves. Like I said, I own a ton of IRs from a lot of companies, most of them sound good on their own. Hell, the Helix stock cabs sound good on their own, they have this cool midrange growl that's deep which I haven't really found in any IR. But when you put them in the mix most of them just disappear. I'm a bit mad at this because the only sound that ever seems to work for me is 5150 + Mesa Cab and so I always end up with a similar sound. I want to get different sounds but I can't.
  4. Hey everyone, so how do you get your recording tones? I've already got a couple good ones but it took a lot of experimenting, and I have bought IRs from pretty much every popular company that sells them nowadays (and some not that popular), what I do is, I record the DIs and then hear them through the reamp option and tweak them, but as you can imagine, it's a pain in the lollipop to do it this way, because it's very slow, I have to re-record with every little change that I make, it's a pain because I have like 6 guitars going on at the same time sometimes, it was a lot easier when I did it with VST amps. How do YOU get a good recording tone? By ear is really difficult to believe because a guitar that will sound good in the mix often sounds bad on it's own.
  5. Guys, my guitars, drivers, and signal are fine, anyway, don't worry about it, since it's 1-3 db, there's no audible clipping and the reamped tracks come out fine, I'll roll with it. Still there should be an option to control input gain.
  6. No, so far I've only enabled the input pad, can you tell me where is this option? I only see USB In 1/2 trim or Digital Out Level that could be it, but the first one only affect outs 1/2 and the second one didn't make any difference.
  7. Everyone, I am recording DI tracks from the Helix using the USB 7 out, even with the input pad on, the signal still clips in my DAW by 1-3 db, there is no input gain control, is there any way to fix this? Or am I going to have to record my DIs with the Focursite 2i4 and then reamp with the Helix? Also this is very bad news for the Helix in general IMO, because this means that it's always getting a clipping input signal when it shouldn't. These aren't the hottest pickups, they're passive JBs and then I have to record with an 8 string with Blackouts. This is very bad.
  8. Really? Wow, nope, never seen that in Europe, my flights usually are Spain to UK and the other way around, I actually got some weird looks for going around with a guitar in the airport. See the problem with what you're saying is that it still exceeds the max allowed size and I'm worried that they could just say "no, you have to check it in or you're not getting in" and I could be in trouble. I can't speak for other airlines because I've just never looked into them but this is one of the cheapest, Vueling.
  9. Man, I was going to do it, but it exceeds the lenght limit to carry it on the plane by 10 cm more or less. Would it really be safer to check it in under the plane with the backpack (and pay extra) than to do as I said I'm doing now?
  10. So guys I'm having to move around quite a lot, in some way, I'm starting to regret buying the LT because it's big, and flying with it is well, troublesome. I can't get it on the plane because the backpack exceeds the max allowed measurements, I buy 2 tickets one for me, one for my guitar so the suitcase handlers don't lollipop around with it, last time they messed up my flight case a bit. I've only flown with the LT once so far, what I did is put it in it's plastic, then wrap it up with 3 meters of bubble wrap and pack it real tight with clothes in a big suitcase and then check it in under the plane. Is this fine or is there anything else I can do to ensure it's survival? I'm a bit worried about the joystick. I think when I bought it, there was something to protect the joystick when I put it out the box but I don't have that anymore.. Mostly paranoid because money.
  11. Not a low tuning freak as I play 6 string and 8 string guitars, but I've found that for my palm mute metal tone the Stupor OD sounds better on the low end than the typical 808 put in front of the amp, also for the 8 string version of the patch I have an EQ boost at 900 Hz before anything in the chain, the tone on the Stupor OD is around 7 on the 6 string patch and 10 on the 8 string patch.
  12. This happened to me today, on my LT, the audio got choppy, as in tremolo effect but out of time and kept going even if I changed patches. Fixed by rebooting it. Should I be worried?
  13. It's not in the kitchen, I live in a shared flat, so I keep my stuff in my room, the only thing I have for cooking happens to be on a shelf right above my Helix. I've checked before leaving and there seems to be no outside damage, I'll check that the footswitch lights work when I get back. It's just that..screen and the buttons seem so fragile, I don't fully trust it, and the durability praise is for the regular Helix, not the LT. That's why I want to know more about this thing's durability..
  14. Today I was rushing to work and knocked over a small cooking pot which I managed to grab in the air but it's cover flew off and hit the Helix. How protective should I be of this thing? I'm low on money and far from home, and I still have to buy a backpack for it to fly around, so I hope you can understand why I'm so paranoid about this. I know it's a bit weaker than the normal Helix, specially the pedal from what I've heard, there's lots of info on how tough the Helix is, but I haven't found anything on the LT. What has your LT survived?
