  1. This was totally it I didn't even think to check that. Problem solved, thank you much!
  2. I just updated to 2.3 and when I opened iTunes to jam along to a few songs afterwards I wasn't getting any sound out of my computer. Tried Window Media Player and Youtube, same thing. I can't even hear the test tones from the properties menu of the sound devices. I should note the bar was jumping some green around so it was playing the sounds I just couldn't hear them. Tried reinstalling the driver and turning the computer off/on again and still nothing. I can hear the Helix fine through my headphones but anything outside of it I get nothing. Any suggestions?
  3. I'd also like to give the Epic some props. Been using that one the last couple days and I'm really digging it. I still like the Archons too but that Epic is really growing on me.
  4. I checked that, I hadn't changed anything on the globals before but I figured it was worth a look to see if anything was defaulting lower this time. Might have to try rolling back and see what happens.
  5. I installed the 2.20 update today and I noticed my user patches seemed a little quiter. I booted up my daw and sure enough they are about 5db lower than they were before. Anybody else encountered this? Would reinstalling the update help?
  6. For the sake of jamming purposes I have a few patches with the Pitch Wham set to downtune my guitar. It's not the perfect solution but to rock out to a few songs in lower tunings it's fine for me. I've had some issues with it going from my stored setting down to 1 or 2% pedal position. Does anyone know if a fix is being worked on for this? Not like I'd use it to record or anything, it's just annoying when I'm playing along with something and the pitch drops out of nowhere.
  7. Yep their demo cab is what sold me. I use it for all my clean stuff now. I have the Ownhammer Cali Duo and I like the Celestion 2x12 and 4x12 just a little bit more. Celestion did a great job with their impulses. Still use the Ownhammers for tonal differences when layering, but the Celestions are now my go to IR's.
  8. I've had 3 freezes since updating and they always seem to happen when I have the USB plugged in, using Helix as a soundcard and have the editor open. It seems to do it when I'm changing things in my patches very rapidly on the editor. In my case it's probably a sync issue since it has to update on the pedal too. I'm probably just trying to transfer too much information at once for it to handle. Never had any freezes when I wasn't connected with the USB cable though.
  9. I second Reaper. Great DAW and very inexpensive compared to some of the others out there. It's really user friendly and the stock plugins are pretty good too.
  10. So I upgraded to the Helix and no longer have need for my 500X Fully Loaded bundle since I used it as a trade in. Anyone interested? PM me and we can work something out.
  11. Active pickup users - I highly recommend trying the Het Set. I scored a good deal on the LTD Snakebyte last week and until then I hadn't had a chance to try them. I've used the 81/85 combo for years and while they are good and arguably the best pickup for my style of music, I've always been aware of their shortcomings. I tried the X series and Blackouts at one point and while also good, they still weren't quite what I was looking for. These on the other hand are. I guess Hetfield wanted something that had the benefits of actives, but with the punchy-ness and dynamics of passives and I would say they succeeded. If you're opposed to having artist branded gear I'm told the 57/66 set is pretty similar to the Het Set. The Helix is undoubtedly easier to dial in tones on than previous Line 6 gear, but I was still kind of dialing around the issues I had with the 81/85's. These made it easier to dial in better sounds quicker. I love the low end they get, nice and fat but easily controlled. I would have to post EQ the old EMG's but I haven't found the need to do that with these yet. They pull off cleans pretty well too. Like the 81/85's, the neck pickup is still a bit better for cleans but I was never a huge fan of the 81's clean sounds. I actually like the bridge's clean sounds with the Het Set though. Made a few of the amp sims I didn't like so much before sound better too. Just my two cents if you're like me and not 100% pleased with your current actives, might be worth a try. Rock on!
  12. Dude I agree that is a sick combo! I made a patch like that the other day and dubbed it the "ArchEngl".
  13. I've been spending the last couple days toying with the Celestion packs I got. I picked up the V30 2x12 and 4x12 packs. Haven't done too much with the 2x12 yet but so far I'm really liking the 4x12. Totally worth it I'd say, the half off deal just makes it even better.
  14. I'm just curious, but what happened to it and why is it gimped like that?
  15. Yeah I really like the V70 cabinet in the duo pack. I went right for the modern mix cause I like a 57 and 421 blended. I should check out the other options it has too though, that bold mix sounds interesting.
  16. That's a good point. I should really start doing that with these fancy reamping options. Then if I have to make other little tweaks I could do it all at once.
  17. The quick start folder in the Ownhammer packs is a great place to start so you don't have to go through everything. You can hone in on which specific ones you like and go from there.
  18. Arcon lead and Engl with the mid boost engaged.
  19. Well I sprang for the California Duo, that 4x12 kicks the crap out of the free one.
  20. Yeah its between that one and the heavy hitters pack for me. The 2x12 might come in handy, but more 4x12s is really tempting. Decisions, decisions lol.
  21. So I've come to the conclusion I like Ownhammer's free Mesa IR better than the stock cabs. It sounds pretty good to me, but are their paid ones even better? I know this is all personal taste and option, just curious how anyone who took the jump felt about their purchase. I'd hate to shell out $50 for a pack and go "yeah they're good, but the free one still works just fine too". Not really interested in their clean cabs at the moment, it's just the heavier ones in the Helix I find a bit lacking. Thanks all!
  22. Yeah for me it's only ever been with hi gain. However the HX cabs are starting to grow on me. Initially I was pretty pumped about IRs, but now I'm wondering if I really need them.
  23. Yeah I'm having about the same experience so far. Haven't found any that have impressed me enough to go and spend more money. I'll probably just stick with the HX cabs and use the free Ownhammer stuff if I run out of built-in options.
  24. Yeah see I have no experience with live action mics or placement, only the stuff Line 6 has given us in the past and we all know they are not the greatest on cab/mic emulation. I know a lot of people stand behind the 421 for example, but I hated that mic on the 500X and now its polluting my judgement on IR mic selections. I see those numbers and I'm like, yep moving on but I know I shouldn't be. Hopefully that makes sense, I've been having a few beers while sorting through a bunch of IRs lol.
  25. Edited link, I had one of the file names mislabeled before, sorry about that! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zy1ppb9in1lpqmi/AABcf9nsn3BNrKI57vkKYkiea?dl=0
