  1. You know I play drums also I always wondered if line6 would ever get into Virtual drum systems now they may just be a part of it. But I have been with line6 since POD 1.0 And I don't think I will waver from them. Even with their quirky updates of lately..
  2. I ordered one of these cables. Received it today was very impressed with the build quality. Has a nice fairly long relief sleeve, and the braided outer sleeve is so much nicer than anything else I could find out there. I doubt I will have any problems with cracking or the connectors breaking off. Very solid cable worth every penny.. Thank you
  3. Wow I there are certain things in life I wish I could unsee and that is one of them.... I have a 59 I would have bought the 89f if it was out then, but I would not want more than one. ( By the way The 59 neck profile is not even remotely close to a gibson Les Paul, it has a much smaller neck profile but beefy to me similar to a fender tele) I often times feel cramped playing it which I never felt with a les paul...
  4. (I set it up with the distortion + being the first thing in the chain which goes to the pod 300, then to the FX loop on the mustang head. I have also tried running the pod first then the MXR and it sounds worse. Removing the MXr completely means I lose a desired effect.. Something about the pedal that just helps sustain a note is amazing so Id rather keep it in the line up.) Well for starters you should never run distortions through the effect loop. Always run them infront of the amp. Run Delays, Reverbs, chorus or flange through effects loop...
  5. Yeah I think any drivers that you are gonna find are gonna be third party. I have never seen any pro audio manufacturer who supports linux.. But thats a perk of open source some one else will help you out in the comunity...
  6. I get what you are saying due to the HD quality now its picking up some sort of artifact or defect in my guitar that is causing the drop in individual string volumes on certain models, And variations in volume through out all the models when switching guitar models. (that doesn't Sound right to me but thats what were here for throwing around Ideas).. I thought the reason for this thread was to see who has rolled back and why? I guess thats why we get different answers to different questions, our perspectives are different. But thanks for your help ps. Also I admit our setups may be a culpret in the ordeal, I use FRFR studio monitor head phones so I hear allot of stuff some who runs there gear through lets say a DT series amp is not gonna hear. So someone else may have the problem also and not know it do to the limited range and coloration of a amp versus monitors..
  7. (this is not a "string volume issue" thread... i don't have that problem... this thread is more about subjective preference.) There is more to my issues than just string volumes, And besides that is all part of the update ( I don't have the problem since I switched back) so I think string volumes would be relevent to this thread.. I think string volume issues would be as valid as any other subjective opinion if it is hampering my User experience..
  8. Yeah from what I have read in the forums my experience seems typical otherwise there wouldn't be this thread. If things went well for you thats good I gave it my college try. I even went through tweeking all the settings trying to level out all the instruments the best I could. Tried to get level string volumes through out the spank models, tried different bodys to make the spank sound more like it did in 1.9 but never could get it to resonate like it did with 1.9... And the Semi models you can't tell me they sound better with 2.0 ( they don't have that woody hollowed tone at all). But I must admit I loved the new tele sounds much better than the old ones. And the accoustics sound really messed up (I don't know what they did to it cause they weren't even supposed to update them they were already HD) To me they sound really kinda over driven or really reverby, and you can't get that really dry sound by rolling back the tone knob.. Don't take it the wrong way I have been using line6 since POD 1.0 and have always used line 6 since but to me they seem to be steppin backwards allot with there updates. People want a set up that sounds and reacts like a real physical setup and it just doesn't cut it. I have been comparing the physical pickups with the modeled stuff, what I notice allot lately is a nasty nasaly tone knob rolled back half way sounds with the lester models drives me nuts. I may go through and see if I can fix it through workbench... But you wanted to know my experience so there it is in a nut shell there has been other things bothering my about the set up but I have come accross solutions to fix them or I grew acustom to the problem..
  9. I am not sure if this helps I have a macbook pro so I don't use linux but I found a link for line6 support drivers for linux.. http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/drivers/staging/line6/driver.c good luck
  10. You know I think they should have release 2.0 as a beta download.. That way people would have known how half baked this 2.0 update is.. When you lose functions ( no workbench through HDseries, have to use break out box). Have a lesser sub par user experience (having to go through and change volumes, pickup configurations and individual string volumes.) Just to make it usable. Well that sounds Beta to me!!!! Sorry just my two cents
  11. Its highly unlikely since they just released HD500x and JTV89f with in the last year or so. Its kinda hard to go Higher sound resolution than the highly marketable HD moniker. They just need to seriously work out the kinks in both the JTV line and HD line. People are constantly rolling back firmware versions cause the update causes undesireable issues. Rather than add more crap to it just fix what you got before moving on..
  12. Yeah I thought the accoustics were better before. They sound kinda funny in 2.0 and the tone knob does not have much of a effect as it did with 1.9. It almost sounds like its kinda over driven or too reverby. Also for some reason some of the electrics seem to sound like the Tone knob is cocked a little bit ( very nasaly sounding with distortion tones). Lester models especially..
  13. Yes you can assign multiple Effects to a single foot switch. it explains it on page 39 in the DH500 advanced user guide V2.0... http://line6.com/support/manuals/podhd500 the link to download it is above..
  14. Yeah its kinda sad I upgraded when it was availble, Went through and tweaked all my HD500 settings to accomodate the changes. ( best I could).. But now I have rolled back to 1.9.. Most of the models sound better to me on 1.9 but thats just a matter of taste or preference... To me I thought 2.0 had more range and dynamics but it didn't sound good to me from the get go.... kinda like the hd500 Its got allot more options and technically it can sound allot better than the xt models but for my preference I Prefer the XT cause it sounds better right off the bat you dont' need to tweak the hell out of it to get it to sound good..
  15. As far as upgrading from XT to HD500, Its a catch 22 in many ways. Yes The HD500 has the potential to sound significantly better but it takes a long while to get there. You get a plethora of added features and do dads that you can do amazing things with it. But if you want something that is more plug and play easy and fast the HD500 is a no go for me. It was much easier to get working tones for me with the xt technology than hd500.. I used to be able to just download usable patches through custom tone and they would generaly sound good enough but the HD500 series I have not found any good sounding patches through custom tone. I usually have to pretty much start from scratch ( I don't no if its because the majority of people using hd series has DT amps or what). I use FRFR Headphones not a physical amp so I can detect sound artifacts a bit more than a limited range guitar amplifier.. well just my 2 cents good luck though If I were to do it again I would not have bought the HD500...
  16. According to Line6 the HD400 does not have a VDi input its just a standard guitar cable. It has a line 6 link connector ( to connect to dt amp or stage source monitor),, So no thats not the correct cable...
  17. It could be some of the strings are tuned a octave high, I have actually seen it before even with people using a floyd rose bridge they just have multiple springs ( like 4 or more) and they have it cranked really tight againts the body.. I unfortunately have friends that have no clue of how to properly set up or tune a guitar.. (needless to say after I did a fresh string install and tuned them correctly they had no more issues) And for some reason I don't know why but they thought their guitars played tremendously better ( who'd of thunkit)..
  18. I think with allot of people the playability factors affects allot more than whether or not they actually sound different. I think when people think different guitars sound different even in model mode its more about the playability comforts or nuances. That is why when they record it they cant tell the difference.. Its the subtle playability nuances of each guitar that tricks us into thinking they sound different. Whether its the 59,69 or 89.
  19. well that depends on what the trem block is made of (if its those crappy cast ones) your better off with Steel or Brass.. makes a huge difference.. I put brass on my Strat and wow that thing just sings now and the sustain is crazy on it...
  20. if you convert that to US dollars thats not cheep at all 1,215.40 us dollars...
  21. http://www.autotuneforguitar.com/products/products.php?category=Auto-Tune_for_Guitar_Floor_Pedal_1 I see those features are coming in a pedal form to work with all midi guitars..
  22. I think he means pick the routing options, Maybe. I would assume coil tapping and in and out of phase. You can do virtual parallel and series, I can't remember if you can do in and out of phase. But as for coil taping you can just use single coil pickups or p90s for some of the options...
  23. I now have taken the Velcro off of the bridge, when I changed strings the last time I must have done something that raised the velcro up a little (which cause unwanted buzzing much like what I was trying to avoid). Now I just have a piece of Electrical tape in the string slot where the thickest string goes.. That seems to get rid of the vibration of the top string, which is the only one I have problems with now... Still using the velcro at the nut though gets rid of a lot of cross talk or funny vibrations..
  24. I posted the two pictures from before, Basically all I did was purchased some heavy duty adhesive Velcro. Cut it about a 1/8th of an inch wide for the bridge and placed it behind the saddles but right up close to them. For the nut I attached a piece of velcro about a half and inch wide to a piece of packing foam. I oddly notices more vibration relief when I attached it to the bridge than I did behind the nut. I think it is because the way the bridge kinda floats on the set screws and is not directly bolted to the body. I think the design carry's vibrations from string to string allot more than a standard bridge. I don't get any crosstalk, where before I noticed it like crazy doing arpeggios.. I think any subtle vibrations affect the modeling but that's my own opinion, I think the more flat or stock your guitar starts off sounding the better with modeling. (no funny characteristics of the physical guitar sounding through).. good luck thought I hope it helps. 69 owners can probable do something similar, just have it go directly across the saddles, but not the piezo's..
