  1. You could try wrapping some plumbers tape around the string where it crosses the saddle to cut down on vibrations. I wish they made replacement saddles similiar to graph tech or something with a coating. I have problems yet with the 59 bridge cause the Ernie ball strings I use (the wraps on the ball ends go up the string too far and the string sticking out at the end vibrates againts the bridge and rings through). Its a pain I may just install a tailstop.. I think also possible the reason why some people have issues with it is that Some are using Full range systems and some are not. I noticed a big difference running through a regular amp and my FR system. You don't hear nuances nearly at all with the limited range of a regular amp..
  2. well thats a positive thanks for the answer... I tried the link and it doesn't work, so I googled it but it didn't show if it had it or not.. thanks again
  3. Wow is it me or does it all seem like a step backwards.. The guitar looks cheap, and the new floor board just looks like a rebadged amplifi floor board.. does it even have a variax connection?
  4. Is it a older version of Workbench you are trying to run, Because I have been using workbench just fine on yosemite.. I use workbench 2.11 no problems what so ever..
  5. I purchased mine a year or two ago. But they had the same rebate then, It took about 3 weeks for me so they are pretty quik..
  6. One thing I have noticed is that while your playing the instrument there is a big difference, Between the actual guitars and the modeling but once recorded its harder to tell the difference. I think allot of people are concerned with the playability factor, the way the guitar reacts to the touch. Not so much that it sounds like a strat or what ever when recorded.. And I think that is unfair to judge the variax that way. You can take two american made strats or les pauls what ever model you prefer, and compare them they will not be the same. There will be nuances for every instrument modeled or not that trickle through in your playing. Some guitars make you play better cause they inspire through the tones that you are getting or the ease of playablity through proper set up.. I have owned parker flys all the way down to cheap strat knock offs. And probible my most favorite guitar I have ever owned was a cheap jackson dinky it just felt like it was made for me sadly though I got rid of it for a overpriced high end guitar cause it was supposed to be better.. I guess what I am getting if you don't like the variax get rid of it move on. But don't say its trash ( that is just personal preference or taste). Go out and practice some of the best players have scrap built monstrosities nothing nearly as nice as a variax. Be grateful they didn't have this technology even 10 years ago.. we have it so easy through modeling..
  7. Actually the US models have different componets such as tuners and different finishes are available with different wood types when you order also.. I am not sure about the pickups I think they are the same, They may be able to custom install different mag pick ups..
  8. Unfortunately the link is to the old forums is gone. So they have finally killed it. Basically all that the old link stated was that I had found some resolve from the funky warble sounds and the artifacts that the piezos were picking up and in turn disrupting the modeling. ( they are highly sensitive so any nuances are amplified ). By me deadening the vibrations in both the head stock and the bridge it relieved allot of the problems I was having.. But in all truth I have removed the velcro on the bridge on my own guitar I now wrap the heavier gauge strings with a little plumbers tape. So they don't vibrate across the bridge so much.. I am satisfied with the results.. Good luck to those who need it hopefully this helps..
  9. I did the update thank you Line6 I have been waiting for months on this... Its amazing how much faster workbench loads the Banks it used to take a minute or so now it just takes seconds... Thank you Again, I have faith once more I made the right decision...
  10. You know what would be even funnier april fools joke if they announce a update for JTV and HD500 that allowed them to use workbench again, (with out) the break out box.. That would fool everyone...
  11. Yeah I must admit I am thoroughly impressed that takes Balls of steel to do something of that magnatude... Did you have to redrill the posts or was it already in the correct place from the fixed bridge?
  12. http://line6.com/support/topic/111-make-your-variax-sound-100-better/?p=20716 I had actually remedied most of the issues with this physical altercation to my guitars I have pictures of them in this link it may help you also... Good luck
  13. I have the Sarah McLachlan After glow live DVD and I noticed Her Guitarist was using a Variax ( not the new JTV series). Sounded pretty good..
  14. (Hit the strings twice as hard and a magnetic pickup will give a voltage twice as large. With piezo systems it works exponentially: twice as hard means four times as loud. Twice as soft means four times as weak! That dynamic range would make many players go crazy! I know I would! That’s why the preamps often have a compressor to soften the high and boost the low peaks of the voltage created by the piezo.) I was reading a article on seymour duncan website I thought it was rather interesting to share part of it.. Do to some people having trouble with the modeling side of the JTVs. I had thought of trying different types of strings on my JTV and since I mainly use modeling, ( I thought of trying brass accoustic string see how they sound ) it would not requier magnetic friendly strings ,do to the Piezo pickups... Has anyone else tried this....
  15. Thanks for the info I didn't think it needed that kinda wattage to sound good. I have never played on a accoustic kit ( I am actually new to drums, just working on my rudiments mainly for now)..
  16. At first when I saw this I thought damn it doesn't have Line6Link (to hook up HD500) what a drag. But in reality does it matter other than transfering Audio what would I need it for ( the HD500 would do all the processing there are no power sections to alter) so would just a 1/8 audio input do just fine???? Just go Headphone out into the LIne in for the hifi ( a much cheaper alternative to L2t or L3t).. I wonder how it would sound hooked up to my Alesis drum kit??
  17. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Amplifi75/ the link is above for Sweetwater,, Now its almost tempting to wait and see if they come out with one that has line6 link...
  18. I had some issues with string buzzing on the bridge I remedied it by putting a strip of black electrical tape in the string slot. I haven't had issues since good luck though..
  19. I am not sure what happened or if anyone else is having this issue but before the last update when ever I would play along with backing track on my cpu via usb through the HD500 it would mute the backing tracks also when I would switch on the tuner. Curently it only mutes the guitar not the backing tracks. Its not a big deal I just liked the way it was before. not sure if its just me or have others noticed it also...
  20. I am sure its probable a Tube/solidstate hybrid. So that you can get the tube warmth but the dynamics of FRFR. For a actual Dream rig system, notice the Blend knob....
  21. Yeah I also had spent a month or so tweaking, String volumes ( overal volumes had to reduce other strings by up to 8db on some models), Pickup configurations, body types and pot variations. Even with the accoustic models had to dial back volume still sounded overdriven or way to much reverb or room ambience or something. I thought I had it worked out pretty decent.. Then one day I decided to roll back and see why others rolled back also.. wow what a difference it made the only model I mis from 2.0 is the Tele the rest for my personal taste sounded better in 1.9 and I didn't have to do any adjustments through work bench so I am staying at 1.9.... hopefully like someone else stated its just a glitch with our guitars either way I am happy with 1.9 and I am OK with it..
  22. Yeah I had the same issues, and others after the upgrade.. I also rolled back, I still think it should have been a Beta release so people would have known how half baked that update was... So you are not alone....
  23. I have tried to use it but rather unsuccessfully I hear both the unprocessed signal from the HD500 and the processed signal of podfarm.. I could not get it so that all I heard was the Podfarm signal. hopefully some one else was able to get it to work.. It worked with my PODxt and Tone port gx ( but they use the same technology).. good luck though
