Palico
I love my Variax but the 89f only coming in Red and Black it's been pretty plain looking guitar. Recently found way to dress it up. These are very thin vinyl that are designed to appears like Inlay's. Some might think's a it's a bit cheese solution but I like it. And surprisingly the ones on fret board are thin enough I don't feel them under my fingers when I play. The company can be found on the net, not listing here just in case it would cause a policy problem being this is a Line 6 board.
davidb7170
One such company has been discussed many times early on when the JTV's first came out. A lot of guitar players like to customize their axes for many reasons. None of your applied decorations will harm your guitar or get anybody in trouble. This company (if it's the same as was discussed years ago) also makes more traditional fret board markers -- several folks showed the 59's with the traditional trapezoid markers from this company -- they looked good.. I haven't gone that direction yet, but the dot markers don't bug me much. The one I'm talking about is http://www.inlaystickers.com/ -- their may be others, but I haven't bumped into any.... Other ways to customize is to swap necks, or take the guitar apart and have a custom paint job done. This is pretty mild by those standards -- plus if you decide you want something else with these, just peel 'em off and do something else.... robbieb61
I love the way my JTV 89F looks...EXCEPT for the horrendous "variax" logo all over the headstock.

C'mon...you don't like the billboard...uh, I mean logo monopolizing every square inch of real estate on the headstock? ;) It is hideous isn't it? Like a toupee with a chin strap... robbieb61
Looking at this website: http://www.skinyourskunk.com/custom-design-guitar-skins.html Thinking I could maybe get them to make a plain black skin to go over the headstock.

I was suprised at how well it turned out. Time will see how they hold up. I had not seen them before. Looking at this website: http://www.skinyourskunk.com/custom-design-guitar-skins.html Thinking I could maybe get them to make a plain black skin to go over the headstock. I looked at this company too but decided I didn't want to cover the entire body. The headstock doesn't bother me too much althought I agree it's ugly. On their site they make the skins just for the headstock. It's in the "Custom" section. You have to give them the measurements of the headstock. brue58ski
I LIKE IT. I went to Michaels (an arts and crafts store around here) and got some ot their stickon type stuff to "uprgade" my JTV 69. An 89F is coming. I will definitely look into it. A big +1 about the headstock. I got some sticker paper at an office supply store and made a plain black one for my JTV 69. Much better.
