Hello all!

I am brand new to the Helix world.  Just bought it last week and bought a few of Glenn DeLuane's tones as well.  I am looking to get the tone from David Gilmour on Shine On You Crazy Diamond, but the tone he has in the live PULSE concert.

Thanks for any advice!

My first bit of advise is be careful about chasing a very particular tone on any particular recording. It can lead to a black hole of negligible returns.

My second is try to find what his rig consisted of (some of which are not in the Helix) and simulate the same signal path. That will get you 90% there, which is close enough in my book.

Just bear in mind that downloaded tones may need to be adapted fo your guitar and your particular setup.  They're a good place to start, but don't be handicapped by not exporing them to see how to better set things up for your particular equipment.  It's a great way to begin to learn how to create your own patches.

Search Customtone under the username CBTL. He has uploaded some really good Gilmour presets, including Shine On....

I am not a fan of other peoples presets because they depend on their specific audio setup and guitar which

i can't reproduce.

So if i want to get a special tone i listen to it very carefully and try to get the essence of what i am liking on that

tone. And start building the patches from scratch. A good way to getting close is to get infos about the rig that was

used to create a certain tone. And start recreating that rig.

And alot of fine tuning is needed to get even close. So no shortcuts here.
