Midi signals for Helix and/or Helix LT

I am trying to control the amp channel via MIDI (in addition to the '4 cable method'): eg. Clean patches should use the clean amp channel.

When you use any patch or foot switch on the HD500, a MIDI signal is sent that you cannot edit of disable (I think).

I believe this is so that any other connected Line 6 gear knows what the HD500 is doing.

Unfortunately some of these signals (eg from the Loop footswitch) change settings on my amp (a Blug amp1).

Does the Helix and/or LT send these sorts of MIDI signals for other Line 6 gear? Can they be controlled?

The short answer is no, the Helix doesn't behave in the same way. The only MIDI messages that the Helix automatically sends are PC messages when you change presets (you can turn those off in the Global Settings menu if you want) and CC messages when you are in looper mode. Other than that, it doesn't send CC messages when in Stomp Mode like the HD500. You can, of course, program MIDI commands to footswitches in Stomp Mode, and you can program up to six Instant Commands that get sent when changing snapshots and/or presets. Overall, the Helix offers a lot more flexibility and capability when it comes to MIDI than the HD series does.

When you "HIT!" a MIDI brick wall - try finding a solution here  http://www.midisolutions.com/   They are great to work with and can come up with a product that can help you get around most "interface" issues.

Sounds like perhaps a "re-direct" product might work between the Helix and your amp.  This takes a given MIDI message and changes it as it goes through the "box".

Good luck,  Bo Baker

Maybe I'm misunderstanding "looper mode".

From the manual:

"Looper Footswitch Mode

Looper mode is only available if a Looper block has been assigned to a footswitch in Stomp mode. Nearly all factory presets in Helix have a Looper block assigned to a footswitch, but your custom presets may not."

When selecting any preset, including new (blank) presets, Helix sends CC#61 (I verified this using MIDIOX). Since there's no Looper block in a new preset, no CC should be sent, and yet, it is!

Am I missing something?
