coachz
Is there a way to set pan on the left and right outputs? If you have stereo patches but the PA has poor dispersion, can you reduce the spread or even make them mono?
phil_m
If you only use one of the XLR or 1/4" outs, the signal is automatically summed to mono. There is no global control for pan other than that.

PeterHamm
So it's NOT just the Left output that is mono the way it's physically marked on the back of the Helix? According to the manual, it is in fact only the Left output. I've never tested it, but Phil M is really... never wrong... so... maybe... I believe it works identically for whichever one you use, but I can't say I've ever tested it.

coachz
I don't see anything in the manual about summing. Can someone setup a delay on left and a flanger on right and see what comes out of the left output?

Can someone setup a delay on left and a flanger on right and see what comes out of the left output? It definitely sums to mono when you only use the left XLR or 1/4" output. Here's a post where DI, the product manager, confirms it... http://line6.com/support/topic/14264-helix-faq/page-18?do=findComment&comment=110167
coachz
Sounds like it will do it. Maybe someone can confirm with a trivial test.
DunedinDragon
I can absolutely confirm the Left outputs sum to mono as I use it all the time that way.
PeterHamm
Current 2.0 manual, p. 7, 25 and 26. It's clear it sums to mono.

jbuhajla
It does. I have my main presets set up as stereo, but currently only go mono to FOH at church. If you are uncertain or just want the added comfort, put in a mono simple EQ block at the end of your chain with it set flat. That will sum your signal to mono before it goes out. That would require modifying every patch right? I'm looking for a way to do it globally and it sounds like the jack does this.

Just use the left output and you are good to go.
