dirk_henrich
HI There, working with HD 500 Edit Software on a Line 6 HD 500 device: Downloading files from the official custometone does not work. The files carry the ending ".l6t". In the softtware there is no such option to open the files. If allows only *h5e" and similar endings, Whats this about? THanks, DIrk
TheRealZap
the l6t files are for older devices and will not work with the HD pods.
silverhead
In custom tone, use the search feature to restrict your search to hd500 compatible tones.
radatats
Try just changing the file extension from .lt6 to .h5e and see if it opens. I downloaded a zip file with thousands of presets for all different Line 6 gear and they all ended with .lt6. When I changed the tail for the ones in the PODHD500 folder to .h5e they all worked perfectly. Not that they are all great tones but... zip file links below. If you want to change the tail on a lot of files at once try this: http://download.cnet.com/Extension-Changer/3000-2072_4-10394272.html http://share.cx.com/KM7R7k http://share.cx.com/hWBktR http://share.cx.com/vCs7mJ
silverhead
..... When I changed the tail for the ones in the PODHD500 folder to .h5e they all worked perfectly. ... Yes, they would ..... because they were all HD500 tones in the first place, but must have been changed to have file extension .l6t during the zip process. The files in the X3 or Xt folder (assuming there is one when unzipped) won't work with the HD500 even if you change the file extension to h5e. radatats
Yeah, you are right, I tried it and it was no good. Meh, maybe he has one that will work, worth a try. But seriously, if you can't find what you need, at least as a starting point, with everything that is already out there you need to switch to playing bass... guitarno
Actually, I just did a listing of "HD500X Compatible" tones on custom tone, and all of the ones I was trying to download had the "L6T" extension. I have downloaded patches with this extension before, and they would not load onto my HD500X directly, or using drag & drop. If I use the filter to restrict customtone to only HD500X compatible tones, why is it even listing these???
diggerbarnz
renaming doesn't work for me either - & I WAS searching under pod 500 only (SRV patches)
diggerbarnz
sorry - my bad...even though pod500 was chosen..as soon as I entered SRV in search, it went to all units
NeilPeel
I have a HD500x and find the available tones somewhat restrictive (at least at present).. What I do when I can't get a tone for the HD500x is get another tone for a different model and open it up in the editor for that particular model (If renaming the file doesn't work).. I then open up the HD500 edit software and basically create a new tone manually using the details of Amp, Cabinet, Delay, Distortion, Mic etc from within the editor of the other POD.. It's a bit laborious but it works - and you get a good idea and capabilities of the different pieces of kit used! :)
Charlie_Watt
The HD500 tones work perfectly fine on the 500x. There are tons of them.
johntheartguy111
I set my computer up with 2 monitors Gearbox on one and Pod HD500 Edit on the other and approximate my .l6t files to .h5e using the same of approximately the same effects, amps and cabs and copy the settings.
