RD1967
So I thought I would try my Strymon Big Sky with my Helix. However, it completely changes the sound of my amp model. I've tried just about every amp in the Helix and it does this on all of them. I was wondering if anybody else experienced this and if you can tell me how to fix it. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong because I've seen tons of posts where people have said they've successfully used a Strymon product. I ran it through the in/out of effects loop 2. -Ron
phil_m
Make sure you don't have the "Cab Filter" switch on the back of the BigSky turned on.
CraigGT
If Phil's suggestion doesn't work then set the send level on your effects block to -6dB and the return to +6dB Craig
RD1967
Thank you for your suggestions. I will try them both in the next day or so and will post the results back here.
rzumwalt
One other suggestion, make sure it isn't on a parallel signal path.

It can be if you have a lot of gain on the amp model. Do you know how to access the Strymon level meter?

Phil.....this worked like a charm when I turned off the Cab Filter. I did have it in a parallel path, too, and I didn't notice any difference when I toggled it between path A and Path B or putting it in 2A or 2B. Problem solved. Thank you all for your responses.
hideout
Man, I'd love a Big Sky but I can't bring myself to bring yet another thing to hook up at my gigs. I have a Digitech Polaris and it sounds quite good not Big Sky good but quite pleasing to play through and it stays in the studio. The other thing is that its sound is only appropriate for a few things so I end using it so sparingly in the studio that it's just not worth bringing to gigs. But I love that sound.... aaahhh! Hold the right hand button down while you power it up until the display reads "Test" then turn the encoder until it says "Level" then press to get the meter. There's no reverb in this mode and you have to pull the power to get out . Craig

That sounds pretty good, It will show "clip" if you go over.

I have experienced distorted delays from the Timeline because the send was too hot, mainly because of a high Master vol and channel vol on the amp model. In fact I've just finished adding a signal meter to my loop just to keep an eye on it. Craig

Try lowering the channel volume parameter in the amp block as the first thing. You can always go in the Send block and lower the send parameter there, but that wouldn't be my first choice. CraigGT
Yes like Phil said, be careful with amp master and channel volume. There's no need for them both to be on 11. Craig
