uktivo
Hi all, Apologies mod's if this is in the wrong section, but I'm unsure if the Helix needs a tweak, the powercab needs a tweak or both.. hence I posted here. I'm new to the helix and my powercab plus arrived last night. I'm connected by the bright blue (why this colour) AES link cable to the cab. With the cab on 3/4 volume and the helix nearly at half, the sound is still quite low. Is there a setting I've missed or perhaps should have set up before rushing ahead as I tend to do with everything i buy.. too eager to just get going. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. cruisinon2
In Helix, nearly all the blocks in your signal chain will have a level parameter, so you might have inadvertently pulled any one of them down, but I'd check "channel volume" in the amp block, first.
SteveFrance
On the powercab plus, i've seen in the manual you can adjust your input level in the global parameters. I think you have to turn the output of Helix on "Line" level instead of "mic/instrument" too...
phil_m
All of the factory presets for the PC+ are set with the level parameter pretty low, like somewhere between -16dB and -14dB. You can adjust that to go as high as +6dB. Simply press the Select knob on the PC+, scroll down to the Level parameter, press the knob and turn it up. I would start at 0.0dB, as going higher can make it pretty easy to get the clip light to come on. Once you do that, you should have plenty of volume.
uktivo
OK. It seems better today. I've put the PC+ on virtually full and the helix patch I've upped the master (i think it was).. But boy did I get a shock when I connected the PC+ to my macbook to see how to record etc. I forgot the amp volume was up full and my output from the macbook was pretty much full. I played My Chemical Romance through the cab.. VERY loud. lol Thanks all for the support. There is going to be loads of questions.. most of them pretty obvious and maybe stupid. So please bear with me.
lawrence_Arps
just asking, but why have the helix on half volume?
