What's your global eq setting for headphones.

New helix user, had my helix for about a month now, only using it with headphones, started off using my Sony wh-1000xm3, quickly realised these were way off for what I needed so purchases a set of dt990s.

Was wondering what global eq setting people are using to get best result from their cans.

I use DT990s and don’t use any global EQ. I’m satisfied with the sound from my cans on the tones I normally listen to through FRFR PA speakers.

Maybe it depends on whether you want to ‘match’ some other tone that you normally hear. And that in turn depends both on the speakers you use and the volume you listen at. I think you’d have to factor those variables into your question.

When it comes to playing through headphones, I practice with my Bose noise-canceling headphones.  To me they don't need any global EQ tweaks.  But I can imagine if I were playing through very shrill headphones for example, I'd need to remove treble and add bass--Global EQ to the rescue!

Always set up your sound with Global EQ disabled (mixing monitors are great for dialing in your sound).  Only use global EQ as a last resort if you show up to a gig and the amp/wedge does not sound like your usual sound.  The purpose of Global EQ is to change your sound back to the usual sound in unforeseen circumstances.

I only use Global EQ when we are playing in a small space and the amp on stage can be heard in the venue... then the sound guy may occasionally make me tweak some frequencies.  I go to FOH via 2 XLR cables, and run my personal monitor via 1/4" to power amp to 12" speaker.

Since my power amp has no EQ whatsoever, Global EQ allows me to dial out some problematic frequencies in those rare cases.  But I emphasize: all other sounds produced by my Helix are with Global EQ disabled.

Hi,

I would never use Global EQ for headphones, that's not what it was designed for.

If you are using studio quality cans to monitor your Helix you should not need to use any further equalisation. The Global EQ is more useful if you need to tweak your guitar signal for use in an unusual setting (i.e. basement club), without having to modify all you presets. Basically you use it to compensate for a bad environment, then when the gig is finished, turn it off.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
