Snapshot-Stomp mode question

Hey guys, forgive me if this was asked already. I have my snapshots set up the way I like. If a song on the fly comes up, I want to be able to go into Stomp mode and click on whatever effects I want without overwriting my snapshots. Kind of like keeping snapshot/stomp independent. Is this possible?

yes, click the mode button to go into stomp mode and you can access all of the blocks that are tied to a button.  You can also combine stomps and snapshots in stomp mode using the control center view.  I do that alot. he has some great vids on how to set this up.  good luck!

In Global Settings>Preferences>Snapshot Edits can be set to RECALL or DISCARD.

RECALL retains the Snapshot changes until you switch Presets.

DISCARD reloads the SAVED Snapshot configuration when you switch Snapshots.

In either case, the changes are only permanent if you SAVE the Preset.

So I have my preset setup with snapshots that I use for a single song.

If there is a impromtu last second song requested, I would like to click on preset-stomp and turn on/off effects to match the new song. Now lets say, that song finishes, I would like to go back to my snapshots without them being affected by what was done in preset-stomp mode. Can I do this?

Too bad it's global as opposed to effective per preset.

Huh?

A Global setting means it is effective on each Preset across the entire device. Provided that you don’t SAVE any changes you make, then everything remains the same.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Exactly, this setting affects all presets. But what if I had a singular preset where I wanted this setting to be "active", and my others presets I don't care if what is done in stomp mode affects the snapshot. More of a curiosity than a want or desire for me.

Then you make the setting active. It works in the one preset you want, and since you don’t care about the other presets it doesn’t matter.

Personally, I decide on the snapshot edit behaviour based on whether I am primarily editing or playing in any given session. When editing, especially if editing snapshots, I set it to Recall so that I can navigate among presets without having to Save the preset each time I change Snapshots. I tend to leave it there because while playing I don’t usually even have the edit program active - everything is done on the device. If I do have the editor running while playing I set it to Discard.

Hi all, despite owning a helix for a good few months now I haven't had the chance to mess with it yet and set it up for live use and such (although have used it on a recording already and it sounded great - I get the feeling already that there's much more room to create interesting/unusual sounds compared to the Quad Cortex which I also own)

Question please; say I have the Helix Floor set up so that I have Snapshots on the bottom row and stomp functions on the top row (or I understand that If I use Command Centre, I wouldn't be "limited" to having to split 4x4/stop/snapshots?), would I still be able to use the Mode button to then switch to 8 Stomp possibilities?

Also, as a side note - am I correct in saying that it's possible to lock the preset up/down and mode buttons so that you don't accidently change preset during a song?

Thanks all!

The MODE switch is always available.

In PRESET MODE you can have ALL PRESETS, ALL SNAPSHOTS, any combination of PRESETS, SNAPSHOTS and/or STOMPS 4 each TOP or BOTTOM.

The UP/DOWN switches can be BANKS, PRESETS or SNAPSHOTS.

You can swap the UP/DOWN functions to DOWN/UP but you can't disable them in PRESET MODE.

In STOMP MODE, if you have the full-fat Helix (not LT), then you can set it so that you have 10 STOMPS and no UP/DOWN switches.

Using Command Center you can set switches (in STOMP MODE) to switch SNAPSHOTS, MOMENTARILY switch Snapshots (PRESS/RELEASE), or use one FS to go to any Snapshot from any other Snapshot ("stacking"). Example - FS1 in SS1 goes to SS3, in SS3 FS1 goes to SS8, in SS8 FS1 goes to SS6 etc.

Using the PRESS/HOLD setting you can go to either of two Snapshots from one switch.

You can also switch PRESETS, control external MIDI devices, swap channels on an amp, control a DAW, lots of other stuff.
