themetallikid
So I downloaded the driver(s), HX Edit 3.82, OG Helix Floor has been running 3.8 since it was released. 0 issues with my old Win 10 laptop, connect to Win 11 laptop (Lenovo) and I get 'No Device Found'. Also not getting windows audio through my Helix (as I usually do for jamming). I'm not sure what to look for, I've googled, and this seems to be an issue when WIN 11 was first released, but everything is updated, and I dont see any issues recently. I'm sure its USB Port related, but I'm at wits end to get this resolved. I've dug into and turned off the power management for the USB ports/Hubs in device manager. I turned off the memory intergrity, restarted, same results. Any help?? My WIN 10 setup was flawless with connections, so I have a hard time believing 'try a new cord' is the solution. rd2rk
Goto the Windows Sound settings to set the default playback device. I have two i7 Win11 boxes, one new and compatible and an older one that is theoretically not, both work fine with HXedit. Maybe try uninstalling, remove all L6 stuff (including in the registry if you’re comfortable using regedit) then reboot and reinstall. themetallikid
From troubleshooting with help from TGP as well, I think I know what the problem is, I cannot get it to recognize Helix as an audio device. I have installed the drivers (windows says the Windows USB 2.0 driver is the best for this device when choosing Helix Audio in the device manager). When I go into the sound settings and try and choose the output device I have 'speakers' only. I do not get any other options. When I have device manager up and plug in the USB cord to Helix, I see these two items pop up. The 'other devices - Msg Pipe' and Helix Audio. I have updated the driver automatically and get the message that drivers are up to date, when I manually try and choose the driver from the windows>program files>line6>folders where the drivers install to, it tells me the Windows USB Audio 2.0 'best driver for your device is already installed'. I think thats the issue, but I dont know how to correct that.
rd2rk
I’ve also noticed that sometimes I’ll get the No Device message and if I disconnect the cable, pause a beat or two then reconnect that fixes it. Just something else to try before you do the whole uninstall thing.

themetallikid
yeah, I've tried googling that msg-pipe error and I can't find anything on that. I've tried the other of 2 USB -A ports and its no different either way. I'm heading to the store anyway, going to get a different cable. Though I feel thats the equivalent of the 'unplug/plug it back in' theory, I can't see how a different cable could fix this issue.
themetallikid
Tried a brand new cable, both ports, same result regarding what shows up in the device manager.
rd2rk
Sounds like the next step is the complete driver uninstall/reinstall. Not to be debby downer and not sure it’s relevant, but I’m my family’s Windows support tech. My sister had a Lenovo laptop, and it was a royal pita from day one. Replaced with a Dell, no problems. My older i7 laptop is an HP, not even technically Win11 compatible, no problems. Also, if this is a new laptop with a factory Win11 installation, you may ultimately wind up doing a clean Windows installation. Worst case, but try the driver uninstall/reinstall first.

Your saying to uninstall/reinstall which driver the Helix? or the USB 2.0 audio one that windows seems to favor for everything?
themetallikid
from using some chat AI stuff, it seems that I need to do registry edits for windows 11 home edition to turn off the automatic assigning of the usb 2.0 driver. I'm not super comfortable doing that, so not sure what steps I can take going forward.

Familiarize yourself with the recovery steps (both system and app/data files) you would need to take if editing the Registry as suggested goes awry. Use the available utilities to backup all files and create a Recovery drive. You would be able to restore the exact same system image that you have now. You could even rehearse the steps in advance, right up to the point where you would actually perform the final recovery step. I had a catastrophic hard drive failure on my boot drive earlier this year. It was a real pain in the a$$ because I was not properly prepared. I had to purchase a new boot drive, install Win11 from scratch, and manually reinstall all apps and files. Fortunately I had at least used File History to back up important data files on a separate drive, but I still lost some data. Now I have everything in place to recover fully and quickly if (no, when) that happens again.

Before I make any other suggestions, a couple of questions: What is your Lenovo's FULL model #? Processor model? When you got it, did you perform ALL of the available Windows updates? That means rebooting and re-checking Windows Updates until there were no more updates to install on two or more successive reboots? Did you then install all of your other (non Line 6) applications? What applications did you install? Are you backing up all of the relevant (to those applications) data directories to OneDrive or elsewhere in the cloud? Are you using ANY antivirus/malware programs other than Windows Defender? Did you uninstall whatever crapware that the Lenovo came with pre-installed? A screenshot(s) of your Startup settings - SETTINGS>APPS>STARTUP - could be helpful here. I know, that's a lot of questions and you might not understand why they are relevant, but there is no logical explanation for why a brand new Win11 system should be as hosed as yours seems to be, and before I make any further suggestions I need to know these things so that I don't make things worse. TBH - depending upon your answers to the above, my best advice MIGHT be to restore it to the condition it was in when you took it out of the box, then come back for advice on how to proceed. But that could be painful and very time consuming. I've been using Windows since before there was Windows (DOS) and if it's not necessary...

But that could be painful and very time consuming. I've been using Windows since before there was Windows (DOS) and if it's not necessary... OK, whew, that was a lot, lol. Let me see if I can address those in order. The processor listed in system info is "Snapdragon(R) X-X126100-Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU When I got it out of the box, I plugged it in, booted it up, it went through its 'setting up' windows, updates etc. and eventually when it came the desktop and didn't prompt any further updates, it was good to go. There is a windows update - "Windows 11, version 25H2" that is having an issue with downloading to install. Not sure why its hanging at 0% when I choose to update. In general, I have the settings set to download/install when they are available. I did not have anything additional with Lenovo to install, nothing of the usual bloatware that I noticed. I had an offer to install McAfee but did not install that. The only startup apps that are turned on currently are Microsoft One Drive and Windows Security Notification. This laptop was more meant to be a 'home' laptop, rather than a musical hub, however, I didn't think putting HX edit on here would be such a task, and it would sure help with not having to swap laptops seeing as I do home stuff and music stuff from the same desk (damn apartment living strikes again)...but if I need to rotate laptops, then so be it, it's not the end of the world. rd2rk
I'm suspecting that both windows update and HXEdit are having a problem with that processor. After uninstalling all Line6 drivers and HXEdit, try turning OFF Core Isolation: Settings>Privacy&Security>Device Security>Core Isolation Details>Local Security Authority Protection=OFF Try to install HXEdit again and if that doesn't work turn CI back ON and open a support ticket. Ask if HXEdit is compatible with that processor. You can also try opening a chat with a Microsoft Support person to ask about the Update problem. Sometimes those syatem updates just take a long time. 25H2 took FOREVER on both of my i7 machines. After an hour or so I went out for a run, went shopping, and two hours later when I got home it was FINALLY installing! SLOWLY!
PerS
With the risk I double post… got logged out when posting, know I weas logged in before… anyway In search for a new laptop, I ran into the two posts below. This could be a Snapdragon problem but could also be that Line6 needs to update the drivers for HX Edit. It I a new hardware and guess it will need drivers for it. Haven’t seen anyone got it to work on Snapdragon. Hope it’s a lead to find a solution for you. https://www.reddit.com/r/Line6Helix/comments/1drwt48/surface_pro_11_and_helix_lt_issue/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Line6Helix/comments/1lcowxd/hx_stomp_xl_into_surface_pro_11/ //Per
