biga1988
Hi, I'm quite new to Line 6 POD gear and recording in general, and having a bit of a problem. I'm running my POD into a Tascam DP24, im using both outputs into the DP24? And the problem im having is that when i listen to my guitar through the headphone out of my POD it sounds great, but as soon as i record onto the Tascam it sounds very muddy, messy and slightly buzzy here and there, from either my monitors or headphones. And while that may seem like its the Tascam fault, when i record direct into the tascam using its built in amp simulator,it sounds obviously poorer in terms of realism, but it does sound some what clearer and a lot more defined than when i record with the POD. I understand that people might not no much about the Tascam, but just wondered if anyone might know if theirs anything i'm doing wrong with the POD. Any help will be much appreciated. bjnette
I don't know much about your Tascam but if it is possible to record the HD outs into the Tascam bypassing any pre amp on the channel. The receive of an insert would work too. I think the tascam can receive s/pdif and this would also bypass an additional pre amp stage. There is a pad and basic switches on the HD which is most likely the problem, mismatching the output to the receive device. Line level. Thanks for your reply, So do you mean that i should bypass the pre on the Tascam? I have the Tascam set to line and the HD to studio direct which i thinks right? Thanks again. bjnette
Line in is okay. Check your toggle switches on the HD as it might help!
Triryche
You might be coming in too hot clipping the inputs on the Tascam. Also try lowering your master volume on the POD HD.
spaceatl
buzzy...hmmm....I wonder if you might be using balanced cables (TRS)...If you are using TRS cables, that is fine in terms of the POD HD Desktops 1/4 outs...However, if you are using the 1/4 inputs on the Tascam and they happen to be unbalanced, then you usually end up with a somewhat weak and noisy signal...just a guess, but maybe try using ordinary guitar cables (TS)...Two other possible options...Try using a 1/4TRS (headphone plug) to two 1/4 TS and use the headphone out to drive the inputs to the Tascam...headphone amps are basically high power line level drivers. Another option that someone has already suggested is using the SPDIF out...If the Tascam has an SPDIF input, this would give you the best quality recording since you completely remove the DAC(POD) and the ADC (Tascam) taking two conversions out of the recording chain...
