brue58ski Posted October 15, 2014 Share Posted October 15, 2014 Well, start with Jazzbox position 4 (I can't remember which guitar model this is) and a Fender bassman. Keep the amp drive clean. Turn the tone knob down to taste on the guitar and adjust the amp tone controls. Then try all the different mics. Then try all the different cabs adjusting other amp parameters as you do this. Yeah, that is the basic formula I use, only I use the Twin with the jazzbox model. Some light compression and maybe light(er) chorus and it sounds pretty good, but people use so many different types of rigs to play jazz, I thought I'd ask. Thanks. I have taken shots at the "Jazz" tone using my method but never got anything that really blew me away. But, then again, I haven't spent a lot of time on it.
