  1. Does anyone have a list of what all the FX in the POD are based off of? Like the distortion pedals? I know the amps have a list, but I'm pretty sure the FX are based off of stuff as well.
  2. Good so it's basically a pan limiter and not an actual panner. That means I can still get, say, stereo delay if I had a ping pong on channel A and Channel A was panned center, yes? The reason I'm asking is maybe I can just place my post amp effects on Path A and make that center pan to make the mixer the last block, you know what I'm saying?
  3. The reason why I don't always end up having the mixer in the end is because I like to set up certain things in certain ways. I do have 1 question though. If I set 1 channel to be dead center, would the stereo effects on that channel still be stereo, or mono? Honestly Line 6 needs an end chain output block. So far I'm hearing that the POD has great tone, but the features seem to have dipped slightly from the XT to the HD series. Still love my HD though, it's just frustrating when I run into things like this.
  4. People need to understand that just because a pickup system is used for MIDI or synthesis doesn't mean that pickup will only do just that. The thing that's making it MIDI isn't the pickups itself but the floor unit converting the channels into MIDI via pitch tracking. There's a reason why it uses the term modeling instead of MIDI.
  5. It seems like some effects really don't take any slight gain than quiet very well. A lot of the EQs don't like having volume put into them. It's like there's no real headroom with a lot of stuff or else clipping will occur. It's obvious that the main output stage is capable of having a higher output than this but it's just not cutting it with the FX. Is there anyway I can set up a chain to be loud without clipping? I've ran into problems where the output is seriously low, which isn't very good for recording. For live it's not good because the max volume is seriously underwhelming which isn't good. Sure I could feed it into the front of my amp, but do I really want the preamp stage of my amp to mess with the tone of my POD? It sounds so much better through the power amp input on the back, but that makes the master knob on my POD the volume control. Like I said, any tips on dealing with this?
  6. I have to agree with Zap, there's plenty of times when a reflash WILL fix it and you just have to keep trying.
  7. I believe it's not so easy on the JTV models. Since James Tyler decided to have his whacky little bridge design, the graphtechs don't sit in the bridge very well.
  8. I worship my guitar, does that count?
  9. Are there pedals with switches that work with line 6? Does the line 6 pedal have a switch?
  10. Some of that stuff looks pretty cool. I imagine that's their "Variax Workbench"? Either way, it all boils down to what you think sounds better. I think the Variax does. I've said this a million times, but those piezos make a hell of a difference in modeling sound quality (as in they're better).
  11. Yeah I'm not a big fan of those stories. If there's something wrong with your guitar, there's something wrong with your guitar, and if a Line 6 authorized place is the only place you can take it to without having it "invalidate your warranty" then they HAVE to fix it for you. It's not fair for you to get a broken guitar and expect them to just accept that for you. You paid for the guitar, you should get how it's supposed to be, nothing lesser.
  12. Winner winner chicken dinner, sir. It works like a charm now. Just enough to make sitting fine, just a little so that it doesn't accidentally switch when using it standing up. Since mine is used, I have no problem removing some of something as minor as a rubber stopper.
  13. When I switched to the VDI I noticed noise problems cease immediately. No more random outburts of noise. Note that I was using a PSU not a battery, and I'm 90% sure my unit is faulty anyways. Battery would be silent as well.
  14. I imagine the switch is digital, so no pressure sensitivity. I never had an expression pedal until now so I wouldn't know how easy a typical one is to press. It's one of the reasons I got the POD, for wahs/expressions both in the POD in my VST plugins. Fun stuff.
  15. How the hell is maintaining your guitar a warranty invalidation? That's insane.
  16. Well apparently it's the expression pedal, and it was detecting a change virtually all the time so I had to recalibrate it. Kind of annoying. Why does it do that?
  17. This is seriously infuriating. What caused the Controllers' Model to go back to blank again after a split second of selecting a model? It makes editing paremeters in HD500 Edit impossible and it's really really making me mad. Please help.
  18. Well, I've said workbench works fine, I'm just concerned if... well if I should be concerned about the Hold-Right-On-Bootup menu shows F when I test the Variax. I'm hoping it's just because it's an old Variax, as the View Variax menu shows 3.10 300/600 and Workbench works fine. I'm just asking if anyone else gets an F (failed?) on the Variax test on the boot up test menu. As for Workbench, the only thing I've noticed is that using the HD500 is a lot slower than using the dongle.
  19. Yeah, isn't that basically what the JTV is, their reply to the suggestions they got to the original Variax? They definitely listen, it's obvious that if it's not in their best interest and is way out there then it won't be listened to, but it's always worth to make a suggestion. It's why I did my palm mute idea because it's obvious that the high gain kids stay away from the Variax because of this, and there are possible solutions which would open up a whole new audience for the Variax, which is why I put it in. Think about your idea and word it nicely to appeal to Line 6 and tell them why it's a good idea.
  20. No one with an old Variax and a 500 can help me with this?
  21. The best pitch shifters I've ever heard is Reaper's Reapitch and Quikquak's Pitchwheel. Formant preserving and no warble are the 2 main things I look for in a pitch shifter. Another thing is latency. Reapitch is more for post-recording pitch shifting because the latency is horrendous. Pitchwheel does about the same thing, maybe a smidge less in quality, but the latency is useable. These are both VST/plugins btw, and Reapitch only works in the Reaper DAW.
  22. All pitch shifting is based on resampling. There's no other way to pitch shift. The only other pitch shifting is synthetic pitch shifting which basically just controls the frequency a synthesizer is outputting, but the JTV isn't a synth.
  23. Hey Glenn! I've seen a lot of your videos and they're great. I loved the POD HD500 one, helped me get to know what my 600 would sound like in an HD before I got one, and it was definitely an impressive combo to get.
  24. As tempting a getting a generic PS adapter seems, it's best to just get the correct one. Some devices are more picky than others, and when that's the case you need the correct adapter. I blew my portable amp by doing what you did. No more jamming on the go for me.
  25. Should I be concerned that the Variax test on my hd500 shows an F when trying it on my 600? Or is this just for JTVs? HD Variax edit screen shows up as Variax 300/600 3.10 though. Workbench works fine. I don't get it.
