Hey everyone, 1) In the video tutorial (link below), it states the Output Modes effect Line6 Link. Is this still true in the HD500X? http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-hd/video-tutorial-understanding-output-modes-on-t-r73 2) Does the new Global EQ only effect the XLR outs? Thanks

I bought a DT50HD too. Couldn't resist it for the price. The first thing I did before I opened the box was call Line6 support and ask if my serial number was on the list for Bulletin 059. Mine was after the batch that "might" have the problem. Made in 1/13. That is supposed to be a year after they made changes to new ones.

Hey Brazzy, What is Line6's resolution for your amp? Other posts indicate they are not making the DT50s anymore. Are they going to mod a Euro DT50 and swap it for yours? Three strikes and you would think it was out!

When I did the new update the first time, I kept my original patches. After reading there were additional patches in the update, I re-flashed too, allowing overwrite of my patches. So the only way I can wrap my head around this is that a 1/4 inch was plugged into the front of the DT, which allowed sound out of the DT using the DT's preamp, then, when plugging in the L6 Link, the HD preamp took over, which could have taken the short amount of time as demonstrated in the mp3 file. Sounds like you got everything in a stable condition now. I know there are different opinions on the new models, but I found enough I like to keep them. Cheers and good luck with your tones.

Quick question. Are you unplugging and plugging in the L6 Link after the DT and HD are already powered up? If so, I guess I don't understand why you need to do this. I don't think it is a good idea. I always power up the HD, then the DT with L6 Link already connected using the two together in this configuration. It just occurred to me that before you re-insert the L6 Link, the amp was using the amps pre until the PODs pre took over. If that is the case, then it would be normal operation (except that I would not recommend it) Actually, how did you even get sound out of the DT with the L6 Link disconnected? Did you have the standard jack plugged into the front of the DT as well? Because the front of the amp input is disabled when connecting the L6 Link, in my experience.

I don't know what is causing this but I would try to isolate the variables. Leave the USB cable disconnected. Remove the JTV VDI cable and use the standard jack or a standard guitar. With the POD and the DT off and the L6 Link connected between the POD and your DT, power up the POD and wait a few seconds to ensure it is done the boot process. Move to a new, blank patch in the POD. Add a clean sounding amp to the amp block. Turn down all the volume and EQ dials on the face of the DT. Set the DT Master Volume about 12 o'clock. Ensure Low Volume Mode on the back of the DT is turned off. When you power up the DT, pinch the voicing and the pentode/triode switches together and hold them like that for about 12 seconds until you see voicing I light up. This sets the DT to factory settings. When you start to play something, pay attention to the amp to see if it switches to channel B. It should stay on Channel A unless you turn of the amp block. Listen for relay switching inside the DT. Make sure your physical connections are solid. If you can wiggle them and the problem is reproduced, that could be the problem. Let us know what you find out. Cheers

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Sometimes I can't hear a difference when I switch an EQ on and off in patches I've downloaded. I think that might be because the patch was tweaked for an FRFR setup and I am using DT amps. Or my ears are too old. Or both.

No de-esser in the 500, bummer. Would an EQ(s) before the amp would accomplish the same thing?

I don't remember reading anyone having troubles with the FW and having to roll back. Can you tell us what is happening?

Using HD Edit can result it unexpected behavior compared to the editor in the POD. This tread is meant to be a resource for users to share their findings and as a repository of those anomalies. I have provided an example: This is what I did: Moved to a blank preset. My test preset. Ensured the tap tempo was set to preset. Set the tempo to 150. Saved the new test preset. Switched to another preset and back to the test preset. Tempo stayed at 150. Tapped in a new tempo with the foot switch. Did not save the preset. The tempo changed to 240. Switched to another preset and back to the test preset. The test preset tempo was not 150 as expected, but was 240. Where did I go wrong here? Original Post: http://line6.com/support/topic/13848-can-i-use-preset-delay-time-and-tap-at-the-same-time/?p=98936 Unplugging the POD from my computer worked. Moved to a blank preset. My test preset. Ensured the tap tempo was set to preset. Set the tempo to 100. Saved the new test preset. Tapped in a new tempo with the foot switch. The tempo changed to 240. I did not save the preset. Selected the preset again and the tempo reverted to 100. Original Post: http://line6.com/support/topic/13848-can-i-use-preset-delay-time-and-tap-at-the-same-time/?p=98974

Can I use Preset delay time and Tap at the same time?
CipherHost replied to carl1000's topic in POD HD
Consistency, using HD Edit or the editor in the POD, would by my expectation. Line6 Staff posting a "Known Issues" quick reference document of anomalies would be an asset. In the mean time, knowing there are issues can save time and frustration. Again, thanks for bringing it up in your post. -

I would have never guessed that the software designed to edit parameters has this type of side effect, but good to know. Thanks for chiming in pianoguyy. -

Thanks. I went to school in Davenport; Palmer. Worked on the riverboats too; different boats on both sides of the river. It is a pretty nice area as I recall. The flooding of the Mississippi wasn't so bad, but I had second thoughts my first winter there in 93. One day the temp was -15 with a wind chill of -45.

Can I use Preset delay time and Tap at the same time?
CipherHost replied to carl1000's topic in POD HD
So I tried this too and it appears the preset auto-saves the latest tap tempo you tap just as Carl1000 has stated. We must be doing something wrong if phil_m says it should work. This is what I did: Moved to a blank preset. -
Just wondering if you tried saving the patch with the heel down?

Can I use Preset delay time and Tap at the same time?

Great answer, but I don't think you have to choose another preset and come back to the original preset, just choose the original preset again. -
The titles of the setlists did not come over when I did the FW update even though I chose to overwrite my existing tones. It did overwrite the tones though. The Variax setlist is the sixth setlist going from left to right, top to bottom. Here is the list I downloaded from the forum. I just can't find exactly where the link is.

Sorry, I was looking at the new DT25 heads. There were selling for $450.
-
Ditto, except I did get the model packs.
-
That sounds like a good deal. The DT25s were the first to disappear from GC and MF.
-
There are a lot of great folks with JTVs and the older Variax guitar modelers who can help you here. Until some of those folks chime in, (no pun intended), I'm guessing you might want to take a look at these Line6 videos if you have not already. http://line6.com/support/forum-18/announcement-27-latest-hd500x-tone-building-videos/

From my limited MIDI experience... You should be able to send MIDI commands to multiple devices. The key is matching the channel you send the change to is the channel each device is listening to. The setback I see with what you are wanting to do is that you have already used FS1 - FS8 to send MIDI commands to change patches in your POD. Normally you have a MIDI thru to reach other devices. Some type of Y cable or some kind of multi MIDI connector box. It's none of my business but... If you are going to set 4 FS's to control an external MIDI device, you could use the ABCD setup and create your setlist in the order you will be using the patches. The nice thing is the flexibility.

Brand-new HD500X ... huge volume differences between presets
CipherHost replied to bobwilken's topic in POD HD
If I understand what you want, just drag any block just behind (to the right) of the amp. You will see a black bar letting you know where the block will rest when you release. -
Bad switch for tap tempo/tuner button HD300. Replacement?
CipherHost replied to indyj_son's topic in POD HD
I used to have a Variax 300 that I bought used. The tone control didn't work. I called Line6 to see if I could get the part number so I could buy a new switch and replace it myself. Line6 sent me the part. I was not charged for the part or the shipping. The support team for US customers can be reached at 818-575-3600 (option 2), Mon-Fri 8am - 5 pm PST.
