  1. When you say "It's still ALL about the code.", can I infer that the Line6 gurus were able to do more with less? I can only assume you guys/gals have competitor's equipment that you use as reference to compare when developing the Helix. Are we going to be shocked as to how awesome the models are when comparisons are made to the more expensive units?
  2. I have been considering purchasing TC Electronics Viscous Vibe pedal to go with my 500X. The video of the Helix U-Vibe model blew that pedal out of the water to my ears. I was also looking at Strymon's Time Line and I am looking forward to hearing comparisons of the Helix with its competitors now that Line6 is in the higher $$$ arena.
  3. Did you introduce any new equipment that uses electricity when this started? Not just music equipment but anything in the proximity of your gear or that uses power from your fuse box.
  4. More so in the first half of the the 20th century, but... You can't compare apples to oranges, i.e., fenders made of metal to fenders made of plastic.
  5. Congrats! Great price and I think you will be very happy.
  6. Phantom power is listed in the video.
  7. I agree The Persuaders are easier on the ears than Iron Maiden, but I was quoting another author so... Don Cornelius! I haven't seen an afro that big since the Mod Squad. Which reminds me, when I was a kid dad would not allow Soul Train on "his" TV. I still watched it when he wasn't home. American Bandstand was allowed. He had some hate issues. The irony is that in 1981, he suffered a spinal cord injury and for about the past 20 years, all his in home caretakers have been minorities. Funny how life works out sometimes.
  8. Haters gonna hate. Your Brain on Hate If you're a heavy metal fan, you've probably heard the Iron Maiden song "There's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate." As it turns out, those lyrics have a grain of truth in them, at least in a neurological sense. In 2008, scientists at University College London in the U.K. published a study in which they included 17 subjects who'd expressed a strong hatred for another person -- typically, an ex-lover or a colleague. When the subjects' brains were mapped with an MRI scanner while they looked at pictures of the people they hated, activity was observed the putamen and insular cortex -- two brain regions that also light up when a person sees a picture of a loved one. (http://science.howstuffworks.com/life/hate1.htm) Hmmm... Maybe you really love "people like that" but you are a little confused? I read all your post posts condemning the gluttony of moral turpitude exemplified by those who would exploit the 30 day return policy. I, on the other hand, returned the model packs without re-purchasing them at the 30% discount rate before the announcement of the Helix. So I guess that means I am still eligible to break bread with you. Just messing with you. :)
  9. Just when I was starting to get over that learning curve for the HD500X.
  10. Just on Chrome for me. Explorer and Firefox work. I think we need to update a plugin or Flash or something.
  11. That's how long it took for my return. I'm guessing it was a bit hectic at Line6 sorting this out. I have always found them to be an honorable company. Currently enjoying the original amps.
  12. Perhaps you would consider demonstrating your Ninja tone crafting skills.
  13. I am not a guitar teacher, but I believe the reason they teach Mary had a Little Lamb is because it is a tune most people can recite off the top of their head. What this means is that you already know what it is supposed to sound like and your brain can compare and contrast what you expect from what you are playing. It is also a very simple song with only 4 notes. Granted, there are other (more adult) songs that might work, but it may be a challenge to find one so universally known.
  14. So I have to admit I did not have a clue what "foe sue" meant. I looked it up using Greek as the language in google translate. Then I googled "foe sue definition" and leaned it is an obsolete term meaning "to make petition to or for" which it what I believe you meant in your post. Or was it as an intransitive verb, "to make a request or application". Thanks for the education!
  15. Audacity is free and has a lot of add ins that manipulate your track, including one that slows down the track and maintains pitch.
  16. I first picked up a guitar when I was about 13. I'll be 54 in 2 months. I tried guitar lessons from a guy at a local music shop. He was more interested in teaching me what he liked to play than what I was interested in. If I had been more assertive, I would have found another teacher but I was just a kid that did not really understand the long term view. I basically learned everything I played by ear from that point on. My first guitar was a string-less acoustic that my mom hung on the the basement wall as art. Not a keeper to say the least. I pulled it down and strung it up. I learned chords from a sheet of paper with the basic forms we all started with. Many years passed that I never picked up the guitar. I regret that now. Players my age did not grow up with the unbelievable advantages younger players have today. There was no POD. There was no internet. There were no forums where others paid it forward like folks do here. There were 45s you could play back at LP speed and LPs your could play back at 78. Now there are more opportunities and affordable equipment than a person could ever get through in a lifetime. I finally decided to spend more time learning to play about 3 years ago. I have spent a few bucks on equipment throughout the years. I found myself in that rut you mentioned. I have spent time searching the internet for free lessons and such. There are good sites available and I have learned a few things that way. Just the other day I finally decided it was time to put a little money into learning some songs because that is what interests me. Maybe I should be concerned with theory but what holds my attention right now is playing songs. As I progress I will likely need to pick up theory to advance. So I signed up for a paid site. It's only $99 a year and when I consider the time I am saving it is worth it. The more songs I learn the easier it becomes for me to figure out songs on my own. It gives me insight I would have otherwise not gained. So, stevevnicks, you are not too much younger that I am, but my advice would be to take those 9 years you have before you are my age and do something you enjoy. There are plenty of different songs and styles on the site I joined and I like the format the lessons are presented in. They even have videos on theory when I decide I need that. Maybe next year there will a different site that fills my needs but in the mean time, life is too short at my age to do anything else but what I enjoy doing. Carpe Diem.
  17. Also, ColonelForbin was doing some experimenting with MIDI a while back and I think he would be a good resource. Hopefully he will chime in with some of his findings. I take it you want to do this because you like the 4CM. Does it really sound better to you with the DT amp? I suppose it is doubling your PRE amp signal if you are using the PREs. If you are using the Full amps I would think you would easily get clipping. Or are you not using amp sim at all?
  18. Yes, the DT listens on Channel 1. Will you be using more than one DT?
  19. No. entrée sera guitare pour votre Strat, Variax Mag pour votre JTV utilisant les micros magneting et Variax pour les modèles de JTV. Vous avez également des options pour l'entrée 2 en fonction de ce que vous voulez. No. Input will be guitar for your Strat, Variax Mag for your JTV using the magneting pickups and Variax for the JTV models. You also have options for Input 2 depending on what you want.
  20. Whenever I have connected to a DT from my POD I used a pair for 2 way communication but I am thinking you should be able to just send from the POD to the DT. Is it not working? Are you sending on Channel 1?
  21. For pianoguyy: "Do you speak the common tongue?" Yes, translate.google.com. :) It's not perfect but it is a big help. Cheers! ******************* Hello Zouzou26, I have been playing around using a DT50HD using L6Link to a DT amp and ALTO TS112A active speakers via the XLR outputs. You can watch the HD500X switch to STACK PWR AMP when the DT "boots up". You can then switch it back to Studio/Direct on the Setup page if that is what you wish. It remains so when switching patches. From the Advanced Manual: Resonance Level, Thump, and Decay controls will only be audible when the POD is in Studio/Direct output mode. Note that this Mode setting affects the signal fed to several POD HD500X outputs: Balanced, Unbalanced & Phones outputs as well as USB Record Send & L6 LINK audio outputs. Cheers!
  22. Not exactly what the OP wanted but... You should be able to copy and paste the first file into your OS application. PDF version of "List of models included in HD model packs" document and hurghanico's contribution.
