  1. Guitar=>POD Input=>POD FX Send=> Amp Input=>Amp FX Send=>POD FX Return=>POD Unbalanced Out=> Amp FX Return=>Amp Spkr Out=>Cab If you're using the POD as an Audio Interface to the computer you need to set the POD as the Default Playback Output in Control Panel/Sound (Windows, don't know from MAC).
  2. All I was looking for was a link to the factory presets. How is anything beyond "I don't know" relevant? The answer to "who cares" is "I care" and you should've quit there. I even tried to make peace, but you just won't let it go. Insulting to the last. I've seen posts by you where you actually offered good solutions. You've even helped me out a couple of times. I think you mean well. Do you have to be so consistently rude and insulting? Maybe you don't see yourself in that light, but I do, and I can't be the only one despite your 233 up votes. Look, just think about it. You can have the last word if you like, I'm unfollowing this topic as it's already wasted too much of my time and energy - and besides, I got what I came for! Peace!
  3. Here's some of the stuff you don't know. The fw was reinstalled 3 weeks ago when the POD seemed to be misbehaving (Win10 problem), before I decided to get the PRO X (eliminates the excess cabling required for 4 cm, provides a simple dry out solution). I reinstalled my own presets, which is why I didn't have the originals. I haven't made ANY significant changes since then. I'd know. So there, smartypants, lick that lolli! :) ;) :P Dude, this is silly. I'll admit that I don't know everything. Will you?
  4. Pianoguy - That's right, you don't know, so why do you keep assuming that no one else knows? Not only will I go the extra mile to make the next owner's life easier, I'll take the time (if he's a newb) to give him a brief overview with the benefit of my experiences. I'm sure you'll have some smarmy comment about that last line, but dig it - I DON'T CARE! Cruisinon2 - No offense intended, I should've added a smiley face :) !
  5. 1) Obviously, some people DO care, which is how this thread got started in the first place. Buying a used unit with the latest firmware (I HAVE kept up with the updates), pedals calibrated and whatever version of the factory presets I can find will at least give the new owner a running start, which might be nice if he's a newb. 2) Because restoring a bundle is a lot easier. Maybe I'm just a nice guy. Punkyboy: My bad! I was going by what the editor said after i sent the bundle to the POD. I should know better than that! The original presets installed fine. Thanks for saving that, for anybody who wants it for whatever reason.
  6. I want the originals because I'm selling the unit - replaced with a HD Pro X with FBV. When I downloaded the above bundle, all I got was blank presets..
  7. For PC use Cantabile. Slightly more expensive, far more features, excellent support.
  8. If you're looking for opinions of this vs that, you'd probably do better to post on Gearslutz or Gearpage. Folks there own all sorts of stuff, and they LIVE for giving their opinions to anyone who cares. Here you'll find lots of people who LIKE the POD, and enjoy helping each other with it. There, opinions (about everything) abound! For myself, I had an ME-70, and it didn't take long after I got my POD till the ME-70 hit Craigslist. I currently have a love/hate relationship with my POD. Every time I get frustrated and think I'm gonna dump it, I find some new way to use it. But if I had $1500.........

    Path B GONE!

Smashcraft - You know, it's been so long since I played with his patches I'd totally forgotten about that! Be hysterical if I'd been testing with his one bad patch!

    Path B GONE!

I figured out the problem, it was something simple. My original setup - noisegate pre-split, delay path A, reverb path B, pan pedal post split - was correct and was working fine. The problem was that the spring reverb default mix (15%),combined with the 6db loss, wasn't noticeable, even though the external mixer was set to unity gain. Turned up the mix setting on the reverb and BINGO! Reverb! I probably, as a first troubleshooting step, took out the noisegate and swapped the pan pedal to pre-split, which then cut out path B completely. Thanks, rewolf, for reminding me about that signal routing thread. Don't know why meambobo's preset didn't work. Probably by the time I got around to that I'd so confused myself that I'd turned off the channel on the external mixer and didn't notice? Anyhow, thanks all!
  11. Like if you were using something like Live or Cantabile with multiple devices controlled automatically from the host. Gotcha. Thanks!
  12. I don't understand. Why would you send it a message if you don't want it to do something? The only choices are on or off. If it's on your only reason to send it a message would be to turn it off, no? What am I missing?

    Path B GONE!

Thanks rewolf. Originally I had a noisegate there, which is mono, and same diff with nothing pre split.

    Path B GONE!

Simple stuff Global: input 1 guitar Input 2 variax Path a - delay panned hard left Path b - reverb panned hard right Pre split - pan pedal Guitar split with ABY. Out a to amp input, out b to pod input. Xlr left to external mixer CH 1 Xlr right to external mixer CH 2 Amp fx send to external mixer CH 3 External mixer all channels panned hard right, right out to amp fx return. Pretty obvious what I'm trying to do. Keep my distorted tube pre analog and mix it with clean digital reverb and delay over which I have maximum static and dynamic control before returning the mixed signal to the tube amp's power section. I never use edit except as as a batch patch manager, less annoying and faster to edit patches on the pod itself. I never use dual amp setups, so I loaded up one of meambobo's excellent rigs, same problem. Keep thinking I've missed something simple. Have I?

    Path B GONE!

I seem to have lost input/output in path B. I'm using xlr outs to a mixer and by cable swapping I've determined that both mixer channels work, both POD xlr outs. work. No matter what I do with the POD mixer settings, no path B. Reflashed, did factory reset, no joy. Any ideas before I go to support??
  16. Try putting your guitar straight into the head. Take the amp's fx send to the POD fx return. Put an fx loop first in the chain, then take the 1/4" out from the POD to the amp's fx return. Try it (1/4" out) set to line or amp, see which sounds better with your amp. Like wise the fx loop switch on the back of the POD. That should work.
  17. Try increasing the buffer size. Sometimes bigger IS better!

    spdif

Of course, both devices need to be tested, same problem, no access. By the time I find two devices, rent them, pick them up and return them, it's cheaper to buy the 6i6 from Amazon. Since the FTP is already retired for other reasons, if it's the POD at least I'll know it's worth repairing in terms of having a device to use it with. Assuming, of course, that the cost to repair the POD is reasonable. This whole spdif thing is about studio use, without it the POD is still useful for performance 4cm with my amp. Of course, if it's not affordable to fix, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a Helix...... :)sigh....

bartnettle1 - Thanks for your replies. Actually, I'd need to find someone with an interface that has spdif IN (probably what you meant). Nobody I know has one. I tried GC, asked if they had something out-of-box that I could test it with, told them IF the POD spdif was working I'd buy a Focusrite 6i6 from them (even though much cheaper on Amazon - no sales tax), but none of their 3 Denver area stores had anything I could use for the test. Guess I'll just have to get the 6i6 from Amazon and take the risk.
  20. 4cm Signal flow: Guitar=>POD Guitar IN=>FX=>FX Loop Block=> POD FX Send=>MKV Guitar IN=>MKV Preamp=>MKV FX Loop Send=>POD FX Return L/Mono=> FX=>POD 1/4" OUT with Switch set to AMP=>MKV FX Loop Return=>MKV Power Amp=>MKV Speaker If you look at the properties of the FX Loop Block you'll see that there are Level settings for both send and receive. There's also a switch on the back of the POD that accommodates for Stompbox levels vs Rack Efx levels. There's also a Send Level knob on the MKV. Since, if I had the money for a Boogie MKV I'd buy a new car instead, you're on your own as to what combination of level settings and switches will give you the best results. Have fun!

    spdif

I retired the FTP because the outputs had gotten flakey. Unfortunately, it's the only interface of the 4 that I own that has spdif IN. Likewise, the POD is the only device I have that has spdif OUT. Yes, spdif is enabled in the ASIO panel, and the Host preferences (if that's what you mean, ASIO DRIVE???), and the Host track has spdif as INPUT. I have 2 brand new data cables, one the expensive choice from Radio Shack, one a mid priced one from Amazon. Same specs, different lengths. Both, at one time, worked.

Onepiece - Yep. pfsmith0 - "the fewer data converters you use..." Makes sense to me.

pfsmith0 - Thanks for the reply, I'm beginning to think that my trusty old Fast Track Pro has bit the big one! I know that you're fond of technical testing - have you ever compared the quality of the spdif signal to that of a regular xlr or 1/4 out to interface connection? How much of a difference does it really make? I thought I heard a difference in the high frequencies, but I don't claim to have audiophile ears.

Does anybody use this? I can't get it to work, and I don't know if it's my interface or the POD. Seems like I had it working once upon a long time ago, but I coulda' been trippin'.
