I have read all the posts on this subject and I think there is actually a fault with phone output, the reason I have come to this conclusion is when I first had my Helix listening to my through the headphone output with my Beydynamic 770 rated 80 ohms sounded just fine. Good volume no distortion the same as listening through my interface. Now it doesn’t, to get any sort of quality the volume has to be set very low, past twelve a clock and it distorts and sounds awful.

I’ve had the same problem, Helix wouldn’t allow me to backup before the new update and since the new update I’ve nothing but problems with amp cabs greyed out, now sound and pops on patches, it’s a mess at the moment.

Has anyone been able to create the tape saturation effect that the Strymon Deco offers?

I’ve found the problem! I wasn’t aware the the global eq doesn’t work with link, it only operates via the other outlets so I’ve just run my eq on each patch and it’s ok now . Happy man

I’m using my sound stage Lt3’s through the link and also into my studio monitors via xlr. When I have loaded previous old presets they sound really bad, it’s like not loading a cab sim but not as bad as that, just harsh and overly bright to me. The other users who have found this are on a Facebook users page. I’ve had to put the guitar pad on which I’ve never had to do, my global eq has always been set to low cut at 80 and high cut at 60. I returned the it to 2.21 update and it sounded the same so it must be me, I just don’t remember them being that bad. It could be an age thing , it’s still the best bit of kit I’ve owned it’s pretty well replaced all my amps and effects, I love it.

Unfortunately I found the complete opposite, I find it harsh and on some presets unusable. I’ve checked everything and it still sounds bad to me. I tried the new trainwreck amp and it is horrible and harsh, I’ve used other uses presets of customtone but they sound as bad. I’m playing a strat and a les Paul, I’m not the only one either who’s experienced this problem.

I have checked everything and put everything back to how I had it originally set up global before any updating. It is very odd but I’m not the only one finding it harsh several members of a Helix user group on Facebook reported the same issue yet others have had no sound or tone issues.

I’ve now updated back to 2.21 and re installed all presets and they all seem overly bright and brittle which I don’t recall them ever sounding that bad, some are actually completely unusable. I then re installed 2.30 which sounds as bright and brittle, I don’t think it’s my ears because the Helix has never sound bad from the day I purchased it. I’m not sure what’s wrong, the global eq doesn’t seem to do anything now, I have the low cut at 80 and the height cut set at 6 normally but on much higher settings as a test you can’t hear any changes!

Hi Phil, On the Line 6 Worship Team users group on Facebook, there’s a few of us that have found the sound really bad and I tried to reset it back to 2.21 update and then have another go at updating again but it wouldn’t let me. Not sure what else I can do.

Thanks I’ll check them but it’s the tone or sound, it sounds just bad and I’m not the only one who’s had this issue.

Hi Phil, Thanks for your help, I have done as you said but but no change I'm afraid. I can't see what I am doing wrong, the set up is bellow; however when the two buttons on the far side of Helix are set to Preset they will change presets on the Strymon, they function as a scroll through the strymon presets. When I assign the Helix snapshots to change the strymons presets they either don't change them or change them incorectly. Nothing seems compatible and I can't work out what to do. HELP !!!! Hi, Im having a problem with my Bigsky and Helix, My Helix is set to Snapshots on the bottom Pedals on top, 4 snapshots set to have 4 different reverbs on the Strymon. The problem is the strymon isnt seeing the right commands, Helix is set this way; Bank/prog - Midi ch 1 Bank CC000 - 0 Bank CC32 - 1 Program - 0 Studio Program - 1 Great hall Program - 2 Clean up plate Program - 7 Epiphany When I try to program the same set up onto other patches It wont work I get different reverbs and often the program numbers turn to Off in the Helix even when everthing has been saved. Can you help, what am i doing wrong? Cheers Mark

Which Twin do you mean the Tweed 57 or the blackface, Fenders reissue Tweed Twin they brought out needed a bit of work to get it to sound like the vintage twin. I had my Tweed 57 hand built by Rosewell Amps in the Uk, Dave builds some of the best sounding tweed amps I've herd. It's a shame the Helix doesn't have a 57 tweed twin. Line 6 had a Tweed Twin the low powered 57 but it when missing after the first pods came out and it was never scene again in the pods.

Lincoln as yet hasn't posted any Helix patches yet, I took the HD patches I had plus one that another user had been working on and also I purchased the Ohwnhammer studio collection of cabs and messed around until I got what I wanted. To me it sounds great with my strat which has area 58 pups. Just need to find a good Joe Bonamassa tone from the Muddy Waters concerts he did with the high powered twins to use with my Les Paul.

I'd love to know how it sounds. I wonder if a EV12l would sound good, I had one in a cab for my Soldano slo100 when I was looking to get Claptons 24 Nights tone, great speaker.

The Helix is superb but you have to spend a lot of time tweaking and adjusting to get the tones you want for live work, Lincoln Brewster's tone works really well for me live. I agree a good jazz tone is hard to get but the crazy thing is I don't know why that should be, user error I guess. I have only had the Mustang 3 v2 for a few days so I'm still messing with it, many users say that its shrill or there's a metallic tone, actually you get that with the real Fender amps there's something in the tweed circuits that give that tone but I cant remember what it is, the speakers need time to really break in. I wondered about a speaker swap, you need to find the right speaker to give no colour to preserve the emulations.

Thank so much for your help, I have actually set the mix in Helix fx lop to 0, when on 100% there wasn't any sound coming through. Any way it works but it needs a little 'tweaking'. The Mustang 3 amp is very good considering it me £240 delivered, the fender tones are very accurate, I have a real Fender 57 twin with vintage Jensen speakers and vintage caps and the tone is spot on even when I drive it with my Fender Clapton strat with the midrange boost on full. If anyone is looking for the Clapton tone of his original John Surh built twins you can get it with the mustang.

Hi, Is it possible to place the Fender mustang in the fx loop of Helix so I can use Helix effects before and after the mustang amp sim. The Fender 57 Tweed Twin is very good but the Helix effects are te best. Can any one help?

Please can some one help me, I looked at my amp list and amps have gone missing, you can see faintly there name but the amps are gone! Tried a resett and firmware update instal at nothing, in fact every time I try something, amps disappear some re apear. HELP!!!

Has any one used the HD Variac plexi for Lincoln Brewsters x3 patches?

Hi Has anyone been using the HD version of the Variac Marshal, I was hoping to get my Lincoln Brewster tone I had on my x3 live but I'm not sure it sounds the same. Any thoughts? Mark
