So far so good on first outing. Brought amp to practice modest 12 channel mixer board and mackie mains not sure what kind. Xlr outs are hot had to turn down gain on mixer quite a bit.(line out I guess on fh1500) volume knob is Independent of xlr set volume. Which is great. tone was really close to what came out of front of amp. First used mon/left out than for fun used both xlr outs. Now most all my set up is mono I think. But, it seemed to sound a tad fuller with both xlr's hooked up. Not sure why? Now if your a head phone user the tones you make in your headset with the fh1500 will be totally off from what comes out front and back I have discovered. I use a pretty good frfr headsets. Set all your tones up from what you here from the front playing at the volume you would be in your band. Hate to say this, and I'll probably get hate mail. IMO this fh1500 sounds better and is less tone temperamental than my helix and way easier to navigate with iPad app. This weekend bigger stage better sound system test.....

Now that I've been playing this amp for awhile. I've noticed how much better the HD amp/cabs sound than the standard amplify amps on this app. Sooooo, how about it line 6 give us more HD amps etc. this is such a big sounding amp to dumb it down.

Looper interface function to fbv shortboard mkii does not work like manual says. See looper thread I started. Maybe this will change with new fbv3
-
Yeah I've tried that. It's hit or miss. Most of the time when I try to save to fh1500 it goes thru the process of saving then the app turns off. Good news is when I get app up an running again the parameter saved. Just a hassle.

This is from app on iPad
-
Most every time I try to save something I have changed on th FH app I.e. Changing treble or bass settings or whatever. When I go to save to fh1500, app drops off line almost every time. When I bring app back on line parameter is saved that I changed fortunately. But this is a pain.

If only my Firehawk 1500 could do this........it would be great!

So here's my wish list. Please add yours and to ideascale. Maybe if we band together we will get something better in next FW updates. Easier looper control. Able to assign more than one fx block per foot switch. Faster preset switching ( even though this amp switches faster than amplify and maybe just a tad faster than helix). Trails on delay and reverb.
-
I think you'll find in this price rang or even above not much crosses over between presets. The helix has trails with delay and reverb but only within that preset not when you switch presets. I don't run any thing external in the fx loops so I can't help you there all my fx are within each preset.

After long time I've figured out the mkii looper quandary.. Well at least with mine. Number 1). Make sure your looper block is asigned to let say the stomp switch. #2) first depress starts record and here's where it gets funky. #3) second depress stops recording and immediately starts play back but now if you try to clear recording with holding the switch down for more than two seconds you start cycling thru overdub reverse play back etc. or if you keep clicking you cycle thru the looper functions. What I have found out is just do two very quick double clicks to stop play back then after your music from your looper stops hold down same switch for more than two seconds and looper clears. Now, you can make your looper music on your clean preset channel and then switch to your lead channel. All you have do do is assign your looper to same switch for both presets. After you make your loop then just one click down to here play back to make sure you like what you did then two really quick double clicks to stop loop, then switch presets then adjust looper playback level one click down to start loop and bam start soloing.

Ok I refriend you. We're about the only ones on the fh1500 forum. Lol

Ouch! I started this thread! Just decided to post pic here so you don't have to jump back and forth between web sites that's all. I de friend you. Ha ha.

This was on a different forum. Fh1500 roller case coming soon I guess?

Now that I have been messing with my new fh1500 and mkii shortboard a lot. The one thing I would like to see work is the looper function. I can assign it to a upper row fx switch. I can also make it record and stop. But the other functions of the looper is where I get into the looper of death. There is no way I can erase the loop. If you try what the regular Firehawk manual says by doing two quick switchs or I've read that one longer Push and hold to erase, it just starts to play back shorter and shorter parts of the loop. Then I have to turn off fh1500 and reset my app to get out of the death spiral. Hope the new fbv3 interfaces better?

My spell check went crazy. So let me try to say it again. If I assign my looper to let's say stomp or delay fx switch on my fbv shortboard mkii I can get it to record and play back. I also can get the looper to overdub if needed. When I try to erase what's on the loop by double clicking the switch or even long press then all heck brakes loose it just goes into the non stop loop from heck. I then have to turn off FH 1500 and reset app to get back to normal. So is this a bug, or my mkii not working correctly, or user error?
-
Sorry spell check it should read etc. not metec..
-
No matter what I try with the looper asigned to a switch (stomp, mod, metec) I get in a death loop there is, well at least at my end no way to stop the loop. I have to turn amp off and reset app. I'm using a fbv shortboard mkii
-
Thnx. I'll try that....
-
The other question is.. Can you get the looper to work only thru the app. Or does the mkii need to be hooked up
-
Via the app, I can assign to my mkii pedal the on off switch to looper block. My questions are... Is there a way to erase what you have done. It seems once you record something via the looper its always there when you try to record something else. Is the looper able to cross when changing preset like the helix, like record something clean then change preset and lead over it with you solo preset o are you stuck alway on that preset?

Pic for comparison fh1500 on left. Amplify150 right. Fender deluxe reverb in background.

I use to have the 500x connected to dt25 amp. So for tube purist that combo was great with the way the 500x switched the amp topology. My problem with it was when playing it at a contemporary church the volume was to much. As everyone knows you need to be in that volume sweet spot to have great tube tone and without a iso box. It didn't work. The fh1500 still sound really good and the volume is very usable form almost off to stadium loud. And the FH app is way cool having your iPad on a stand and adjusting things as you play.

The wheels from line six should be free to registered purchasers!

Well well well, what a pleasant surprise. There is a lot going on with what comes out the front with the 12 inch main, two mid horns and I have to say an a partridge in a ...... Two bass ports on the bottom. Vs my amplifi150 just sonically better, HD amps etc. the FH app is great, lets you assign fx to foot switchs. And you don't have to Bend over or put you helix on a desk to edit. Compared to my helix just easier to dial in great tones or find some already made in the cloud and with the helix you were always in search of mr. good monitor. If there was such a thing? Here's the drawback, ITS HEAVY! Why didn't line 6 put castors on this? Ouch... Next up xlr outs to FOH to see how the front great tone compares to the simulated xlr outs. Which is funny since the front is simulated out per say. Now the better part. The preset switching is way faster than my amplifi 150 and a little faster than changing presets on my helix. Oh, the fbv mkii works with the FH. I have fbv 3 on order.
-
Mstumme, is pretty much correct I a/b my amplifi 150 to the fh1500. I used the same downloaded presets to both with same volume levels. The fh1500 is just better all the way around. Tone is closer amp like than amplifi. Also most of the amps are from the HD family unlike the Amplifi. The FH app is better, also you can assign your fx blocks to your floor pedal just like helix, looper is great addition. The fbv mkii also works with the fh1500. Don't let the 1500 watt rating scare you. The volume control is great from low to high it keeps its tone. But let the wieght scare you. Line6 this amp needs casters! 63 lbs! Oh preset switching is way faster than amplify and maybe even the helix I used to own! I will be playing out next week will report back with live experience.....
